Yashimato was still waiting outside his wifes quarters as the sun rose the next day, and had refused any food or water from his aides.

His wife had survived the ordeal and was being tended to by the best doctors he could find. But his son had died shortly after being born. As the doctors had informed him, he felt like someone had just pulled his heart straight out of his chest. Now he had only one son, a rather impatient and wreckless 16 year old who was in the process of learning from a karate master in Kyoto.

It wasn't until he'd been allowed in to see his wife that he moved and spoke.

She was lying on the bed with handmaidens on either side. He motioned to them and they silently left.

"My wife."

"I am well my husband. But our son." She fell silent but refused to allow herself to show her emotions.

"He will be honoured as one of the clan. But you are my concern for now."

"The doctors say I will recover within a week or two, but you should take some food and sake. You have not slept and there are long days ahead of us."

"Indeed there are, but we will endure them as we have always done. I will leave you to your rest for there are matters of some importance I have left to lie."

He rose and bowed his head slightly before leaving. As he left one of his aides was waiting outside and followed at a discreet distance.

"My Lord, the Prussiain Gaijin ambassador's ship has been sighted off the coast. It will arrive late this evening and we expect them to land the day after."

"How has the Emperor responded?"

"He has sent two warships to escort the ship into harbour and has prepared an honour guard of the elite to meet him at the dock tomorrow."

"Hmmm." That meant that the Emperor was intent in securing any foreign aide for himself. But protocol meant that he and his fellow lords would be allowed to meet the ambassador. It would be an opportunity to guage how the man might respond to a change in power.

"Very well, the preparations will continue. Tell the others that I will deal with the Gaijin myself when the time comes."

The aide bowed and moved silently away. The rest of the day was clear. He'd cancelled or postponed any meetings due to the crisis with his wife and decided to devote the rest of the day to training in the dojo. Summoning his master swordsman, he began practicing and drilling for several hours before lunch.

After lunch he gathered his senior family members together and held a memorial for his dead son in the family shrine. The boys body had been prepared and lay on a small pyre in the center of the palace. As they finished offering their prayers for the departed Yamashita set fire to the pire and knelt silently hiding his true emotions from those around him. He waited until the fire had consumed everything and gone out before bidding the ashes be collected into a box to be cast out to sea. That would be done the next day.

Not too long after the ceremony had finished, he received a visitor. It was one of the Village leaders from his local district. He agreed to meet him in the garden just outside the main castle. The man was in his late 60's but surprisingly fit and also the master at the local Ju-Jitsu dojo. He had even taught Yamashit and his older brother for a time.

"Sensie Eiju."

"My Lord. I bring you honour and respect from my village in this troubling time for you."

"I thank you for your concern Sensie."

"I have heard that a powerful Gaijin is coming to the land."

Yamashita nodded but said nothing.

"Many of the people see this as the coming of the end of our way of life. It would be unfortunate if there was to be unrest."

"I can assure you Sensie that any unrest will be severely dealt with. The Gaijin is our guest and will be treated as such. But I can also assure you that if they do try to corrupt our nation they will be dealt with with the full wrath of the Tsun Empire."

"As it should be." The old man stood and bowed slightly. "Perhaps the Gaijin could be brougt to our humble village where we can show him some of our hospitality?"

"I will consider it." The man walked slowly off down the garden path towards the main way down to the castle gates. Two men who had come with him joined the man as he left the garden and walked with him.

Yamashita watched them until they were out of sight and headed back into the palace. It was nearly dinner time and he was due to eat at the Castle of Hiro Mishima, one of his co-conspiritors. The man was having a banquet for the local Lords as well as some of the military elite who had returned from a recent campaign in the barbarian regions on the mainland. Perhaps, he thought, there might be some potential recruits amoungst them for their cause.

<Kiev, the Ukraine>

Aloph paced the floor waiting for the smith from the coucil of tinkers. He wondered how the campaign in the south was going. He feared the worst about the poorly trained troops that made of the vast majority of his army. He hoped that the Capital Guards infantry would give them staying power. Then the door to the office flew open.

Emperor Gustav Aloph met the smith from the Council of Tinkers.

"I have something to show you," the smith annouced," it is a rocket filled with a variant of Greek Fire. I believe that this would work well, on naval vessels."

"Arrange a demonstration for the admiral," he ordered hoping that the battle would be fought by the time the people arrived.

<Naval HQ, Ukraine>

Admiral Prach paced office in the Naval HQ. He cursed the miserable luck that would have the rebels arrive before the Emperor's men. The general was startled as a large explosion rang out.

He rushed out of the building to hear the cry," They have blown the gate!"

He lit the slow match of his pistol, donned his baldric and hurried toward the fray.

Flames lit up the twilight at the gate. The massive wooden doors were hanging from a single hinge and burning.

"To me marines," the Admiral yelled.

He knew that sailors might be ok for holding walls, but that they would be no use stopping a rebel charge. The Admiral drew his pistol, and waited to the rebels to come or the marines to arrive. As he waited, several sailors attempted to partially brace the gate with timber.

As fifty marines rallied to the admiral the rebels pikes bashed the gate over with a thud. Demons they would have to be to defeat this foe. The admiral raised his pistol, as the front rank of rebels was beset by heated sand from murder holes in the arch. The tramp of boots on cobbles turned to the screams of men as sand found joins in armor.

The admiral fired his pistol into the mass of humanity milling under the arch, and drew his sword. Fifty matchlocks fired a second later as a fresh wave of rebels surged over the first. They to joined their injured comrades writhing in pain in the entrance to the naval base.

The Catahract colonel noticed the struggle going on at the gate. We watched as the first two waves of rebels were halted. The third wave ground forward with much less enthusiasm as the officer rallied two dozen cataphracts to the gate.

<Rebel Encampment, near Naval HQ, Ukraine>

General Misha Oal stared through his spyglass at the fighting at the gate of the Naval Base. The fire was hamperig his men. He cursed the leader that rallied the marines to the gate. He had hoped to keep most of the men occupied along the wall.

<near Rebel Camp, Ukraine>

The colonel in charge of the contingent of capital guards studied the rebel encapment.

"How can I mess that up the most?" he thought to himself.

Then it came to him as he noticed the flash of a spyglass surveying the battle from a tent on a hill.

He divided up several hundred men into company sized groups, and ordered them to set upon the camp and start to light tents and ammunition and other flammables on fire. He took a group of ten men to sneak in and assasinate that general. He ordered the other twenty-five hundred to wreak a little havoc in the rear of the column of troops attempting to force the gate.

As the plan went into effect the Colonel and his ten men snuck over to the general's tent. Unfortanately, by that time he had dissapeared inside. As the camp began to ignite, the walked up to entrance, and noticed the general poring over a map.

"Die traitor," he uttered as he fired his pistol into the man.

<Palace, Prussia

The Colonel walked over to the dead man in the street, and turned him over with the toe of his boot.

"Figures," he thought.
He recognized the man from an old school he had attended.

He handed his pistols to one of his men as the guards directed him through the gates and into the palace proper. He took a moment to obeserve his surroundings and contrast it with the palace from Ukraine. He and the Duke were ushered through and into a throne room, where both kneeled.

Buckingham Palace West Wing London

The assasin crept swiftly and quietly through the halls of the west wing of the palace. There were not as many guards as usual, he was told though that the king stayed up late in the study. He crept arond a corner, and twenty five muskets went off. Litteraly the assasin was turned into ribons of flesh. A trap.

Buckingham Palace East Wing

Charles ran down the hall to the king's room. Foolish guards, his annoymous tip had them chasing the wrong. Charles opened the door to the king's bedroom. There the young lad laid sound asleep in his bed.

Charles walked over quietly raised his saber then in a rush of fury sliced the man's head off. In a second blood covered everything. Footsteps.

Charles looked wildy about. No escape a guard walked by the door and saw Charles running towards him his sword blood covered and raised high. The guard pulled out his musket and blew the traitor's head clean off...[/b]

(OOC: Just noticed that the name of the main char keeps changing from post to post. For future ref and for my own peace of mind it's 'Yashima Itsuruga'.)

IC:

The next day Yashima san and his entourage set out from the castle at midday. With Yashima and his wife were a half dozen aides and 30 personal guards.

Yashima himself rode on his horse at the head of the column flanked by two of his most trusted guards and his wife rode behind him in a horse drawn pagoda. Behind that the remaining 24 men marched in a column.

It was a slightly overcast day with a light breeze but there was a nice scent of cherry blossoms in the air and there was little chance of rain.

Their trip to the castle of Yashima's associate would take roughly 3 hours but they weren't in a hurry and enjoyed the countryside. They passed groups of peasants who bowed obligingly and some younger ones who ran along side and waved at them only to be hushed down by elders.

As they mounted the next hill even Yashima was awed by the view.

Surrounded by green hills and fields Tanaka Mashta sans castle sat upon a mound and was at that moment bathed in a sunbeam breaking through the clouds. As they continued the ride down the hill and towards the small village around the entrance to the castle they began to see that the others were in the process of arriving. Indeed they caught up with and became caught behind the entourage of another Lord from a neighbouring region who was waiting for a local farmer to clear his livestock from the road. The mans guards were ushering the man and his animals out of the way and allowing their master to pass. As Yashima passed they bowed and waited for their party to go before entering the castle themselves.

Inside the Lords were lead into the room that had been prepared for them while the women were shown into a small room off to the side.

In the main dining hall a low table had been laiden with an abundance of food and sake and already Tanaka san and several other Lords were already sitting and talking casually. At the side of the room several Geisha girls played instruments while another danced and others served drinks.

Yashima entered calmly and Tanaka rose to greet him.

"You honour my house Yashima san. Come, sit with me for there is much to discuss."

OOC:
Dunno. I just do not know if I can or want to run a government. Even though I have a small portion of talent in politics, I do not like being involved in politics. Dunno.
