So I'm thinking/planning/scheming of building my own computer. Mainly because I've never done it before and I've always wanted to try it. For those who have their own custom machines or have experience with this sort of stuff, this is what I'm thinking of. Let me know what you guys think.
Intel Core i5-6500 3.2 ghz quad core
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo 82.9 CFM Sleeve bearing CPU Cooler
Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8gb) DDR4-2400
Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5” 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive
MSA Radeon RX 480 8GB Gaming X Video Card
EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Asus DRW-24B1ST DVD/CD Writer
Asus Xonar DSX 24-bit 192 KHz sound card
TP-link TL PCI-Express Wi-Fi
Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 140mm Fan
Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case
It’s saying I’m at 341 watts and a total of $1028.22. I'm not planning on getting everything immediately, probably slowly over time. So I can change what I'm getting as things go along. I'm interested more in playing games from yesteryear while also have the capability of playing stuff from now and the future, if anything strikes my fancy. I doubt anything really will, since my tastes run strictly towards RTS and that seems to have died down a bit as a genre.
One of my buddies who's into this sort of thing approved of this set up, and said I could drop the power supply if I wanted since I have a lot of wattage to play with if I'm working with a 750 watt power supply for a 341 watt requirement.

Re: People who build computers
Everything looks good, but I would bump the CPU to the Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (six core) to get the bump for gaming, multi-processing, etc.
As a addition, even though you are getting a 3TB Drive, I would add a external HD for important stuff like pictures, movies, music, etc...for the fact you can quickly detach and take it with you, like if you're going to a friend's house to watch/share movies, music, show pictures...or...if an emergency happens you won't lose important stuff. You might even use a 2 TB Passport, which is wallet sized just for backup purposes.

And it's 'always' good to have extra wattage.

I have a 1TB external hard drive currently that I match up with my Macbook Pro.
Also my friend said something about a grounding bracelet.

I Grounding Bracelet is just something to keep you from accidently hitting your components with a static discharge. I've never used one in the many computers that I have built...the odds are fairly rare for it to happen until you're body is prone to that, or your wearing your fuzzy bear pajamas and dragging your feet on carpet.

So you're saying I shouldn't wear the fuzzy bear pajamas you got me so we'd have a matching set? I thought it would kind of be like you're with me in spirit as I built this thing.
