Jedi Transport (Tone Krellisk, Jana Dophi)

As the Jedi flotilla reverted from hyperspace, the Ossus Jedi Temple hailed the lead ship. The screen showed a Nautolan female in dark hard robes.

"Jedi flotilla, this is Master Kali Skywalker. I run the Jedi Temple here on Ossus. Our landing space on the temple island is limited; we are transmitting coordinates for the main landing fields on the banks of the river above the waterfall.

"We are glad to see you. We have everything in readiness for your arrival. The complex can house a few thousand individuals, and at the moment less than half of those rooms are full. Our quartermaster Sorra Qail will be on hand with her staff to assist your offloading.

"We understand Master Jana Dophi, the Order's chief librarian, is in command of the flotilla. Our Temple librarian, Disaara Lon, asked me to relay a welcome."

The talk of a broken droid needing attention immediately had Arice's attention, he almost jumped for joy inside when she suggested he took a look. At the same time he tried to retain his composure, "Yes, of course - I'll have him better than new in no time - where are your... Ahhh, hang on - here they are - you go, I'll sort him out." Iara smiled and turned her back on him, he looked like a child on Life Day morning having gotten the toy they'd always wanted.

Within minutes he had tools laid out neatly and was carefully removing the outer casings and laying them out in a logical order. As he worked, the clang of utensils could be heard from the kitchen, the chitter, chatter and laughter of children... The smell of home cooking... It felt like a life away, a life he'd never had... A childhood spent at the Jedi Temple in the Old Republic, just as he was about to finish training his first padawan, the purge, tragedy, then the years in hiding, further years in the penal colony... The years in the asteroid base, with Rissk had been good... Frell, the years in the Undercity, first with Maris, then with Rissk had been good... Although sharing house with a raging 'usually drunk' bounty hunting Trandoshan wasn't exactly the perfect picture of homelife... She'd been a good friend, but manic at best... He wondered where she was now...

Lost in his thoughts, when he realised where he was again, the droid was in pieces, laid in a perfect logical pattern, with all the major wiring exposed. With a micro welder he set to work repairing damaged circuits, he didn't need a wiring schematic, the systems and systems of systems all made perfect sense. He was totally absorbed in the work, the perfect escapism from his myriad of troubles... He only hoped Iara wouldn't have dinner cooked too soon...

OOC: Combined post between me and Halc. Because Adam isn't rude and ignoring a notable Jedi Master from asking a question of pressing concern. *Sticks tongue out at Beorht*

IC:

He pushed the thoughts from his head. It did not matter. "Master Sage," he continued, "rumors have been circulating about the temple since our return of the growing Sith threat. Has the Council made any decisions on how best to respond to this? I have heard of the devastation that the Sith left of the City of the Jedi, and have since learned of the details of the battle; surely, their ability to successfully take down one of our most powerful lines of defense is a point of concern?"

“There are plans underway.” Adam said responding to the Whiphid. “The Jedi Shadows were a group in the days of the old republic. A very secretive group to hunt down threats to the order, they stood between the order and the darkness.” Pausing Adam proffered over a datapad with instructions to destroy after reading. “You are correct in worrying about the state of affairs; it is time for us to take a more proactive stance and soon we will be ready.”

L’hnnar thought on the words for a moment. “Our enemies appear to have been ready for some time, Master Sage. They have a whole military force that rivals our allies’ combined might mustered behind them. For all our sakes, I hope that this initiative will help us to better combat this rising threat. We were warned that, what happened on Taylon was only the beginning. I’m not one to take the warnings of a Sith Lord lightly.”

“No, we cannot take his threat lightly at all.” Adam paused. “We have so little information and we cannot act without it. Information is ammunition we’re in short supply.” The Grandmaster continued without missing a beat, “Where is he going to attack? The Antarian Rangers are patrolling as best as they can and our position here is well defended but that is no guarantee of catching him. And if we were going after him where would we even strike? That is why the Shadows are so important. They can walk in the dark places and gain us vital information.”

L’hnnar nodded. “There is no questioning our capability, Master Sage; especially if this Jedi Shadow initiative is successful. We are, indeed, in need of information. But what about those that have already fought against him? Cazzik Wyn, I understand, has faced off against this Sith Lord twice already, and there are others who have taken it upon themselves to hunt him down on their own accord.” Foolishly, he added to himself, but it was something that he felt he need not state. No doubt Adam shared his sentiments on the matter. “Surely they might have learned something by now that we could use.”

Adam thought for a moment before deciding a course of action. “I want you to make a report. Use all the sources you can and generate information. Go to those Jedi and debrief them, I’ll talk to my sources inside the Republic and see if I can generate any leads through them. The Shadows still need special training, I shall see to it while you gather as much intelligence as you can. I’m counting on you L’hnnar.”

L’hnnar was slightly taken aback by the assignment. He was far newer to the Jedi Order than most of the others that were capable of this type of assignment. Nevertheless, he knew, somehow, that it was only proper that he be assigned to the task. “Very well, Master Sage,” he said with a bow. “It may take some time, but I will learn what I can. Something tells me that time will be of the essence so, with your leave, I will begin immediately."

"Captain, it appears we landed in the wrong area." A rusted protocol droid appeared behind him causing him to stir slightly. "Damned Jedi, always giving wrong directions." He pointed out. "Must be that damndable platform over yonder." He turned around and slapped the droid in the chest hard, causing it's servos to whirl and whine as it attempted to maintain it's balance. Within moments the massive ships were in the air again, but weren't attempting to climb to incredible heights, instead they maintained a low altitude and headed directly for the primary landing platform. This time it had to be right, as he spotted several Jedi waiting nearby.

Within moments the Quasar Fire Carrier and the Orion Class Cruisers made their approach, landing softly on the pad until the remaining two Orion Class had to be re-directed onto an alternate pad. With a grunt, Gelroy again made his way down into the primary hangar. The sound of the massive doors opening to the world outside was loud enough to make even a Jedi cringe, but he didn't care. This was his pride and joy and well she got the job done. He took a moment to look at the massive steel crates which had the precious cargo within and then down at the bottom of the massive ramp before making his way down. "Well, about time you Jedi made your way out to greet me! I was about half a click out, waiting there like a lost dune sea womp rat!"

A pair of huge hovertrucks crossed the river from the city and pulled up near Gelroy's ship; loader droids disembarked. The red-haired spacer who strode out to meet Gelroy didn't look like a Jedi. She didn't wear robes or carry a lightsabre, and she certainly didn't walk like a monk. Her cigarra dripped ash.

"Yeah, well, half a click's about right here. Gelroy, is it? Yeah - when the Jedi picked that ruined island as their Temple they didn't take into account that there's no landing room there. Or maybe they just wanted an extra layer of security between here and there. There aren't any bridges, either. It's a nightmare."

She took a final drag on the cigarra, dropped the butt, and crushed it with her hee. "Sorra Qail, Temple quartermaster. What you got here? Your subdivision has the Orions and the Quasar Fire...but someone crusked up and we don't have your manifest, just the general idea. And I've got to coordinate your ships, plus a good few new arrivals - some more ships are inbound.

"What do you have and where do you want it?"

Gelroy huffed at the thought of someone messing up the manifest.

Lady Deveraux wasn't going to be pleased considering the cargo.

"Well Qail, come with me, this ain't yer regular ole' freighter and this ain't yer regular ole' cargo."
He motioned the Quartermaster onboard and walked briskly over towards one of the huge crates. He pointed towards one of the hovertrucks. "You won't be needin them hover things, these babies will practically do whatever you want em to." He frowned slightly. "A pity the Jedi aren't here to appreciate what Ms. Deveraux has brought for them." He pointed out towards the alternate platform. "Those be Orion Class Cruisers, heavily armed Jedi Praxeum Warships so to speak, roughly 700 meters in length." He nodded briefly before turning to the crate and punching in a few numbers into the console built into the panel.

The XSC Logos which were laser engraved into the side began to hiss and whirl as the built in servos twisted and grinded. Gelroy took a few steps back as they suddenly split open on all four sides, revealing the beauty within. Inside the crate sat a glistening XJ3 Stealth-X fighter, literally fresh of the assembly line. "These be the new Jedi ships Ms. Deveraux ordered especially for the Jedi, I count twenty four in all." He reached in his pocket and fumbled around before pulling out a small holodisk and placing it on the ground. With a simple push, the holo activated.

There she was, in her simple business attire, looking rather emotionless as usual yet underneath that expressionless face, one might be able to see she was hiding a smile. "Greetings Master Jedi, or rather whomever is receiving this on behalf of the Order. I am please to present to you the latest in fighter technology." She made a motion to her left. "This fighter doesn't just have stealth capabilities but expanded sensor ranges, specialized weaponry and a kill switch should this fall into the wrong hands. I do hope these serve the Jedi Order well in their fight against the Sith, Empire or whomever infringes on the freedom of the Galaxy. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require anything further." She paused for a moment, bowing at the waist. "Both these and the Orion Class Cruisers, are free of cost to the Republic and the Jedi Order. They are a gift from the deepest part of my heart for your servitude without asking for anything in return. Farewell."

With that, the holo faded, and Gelroy bent down to retrieve the disk, smirking as he did so. "So, what do ye think Quartermaster of the Jedi?"

Sorra Qail, Warden of the Sky, indulged in violent profanity. Somewhere in the string of blistering obscenities she expressed how impressed the ships left her.

"I'd heard about these fighters," she said; "Master Rekali has been waitin' for them. Hold on a minute."

Back on the island, Ember ducked away from watching a demonstration as his comlink buzzed. "Hello? The StealthX's are here? Now? All right - I'll have some pilots come down and-"

"-so the pilots'll be here in a few minutes," Qail said to Gelroy, running a hand along the side of the nearest snubfighter. "For the fighters, at least. Not sure what the Council plans for these Orions. So it's just your Quasar Fire leaving system alone, then? D'you want an escort to hyperspace - or will you be sticking around for a little while?"

"I would love to join you." Adam said smiling at the Twi'lek woman. "That is if it is alright with Alu." he made an elegant bow to the little girl.

"Of course master Sage!" she replied with a toothy grin.

"Very well then lead on." He motioned and waved with his hand as the girl marched into the Kitchen. Their conversation before the invitation had been brief. The Jedi hadn't known Lyn as well as he had wished, and what time they had was dismally short. for a brief fleeting moment he felt guilty that he was standing in Lyn's home hugging his little girl, that he couldn't have saved him. Shaking off the thought he finished his walk into the kitchen. "So how can I help?" He asked rolling up his sleeves.

"You can start by peeling the dri'lora in the bottom cupboard," she said, "and then we'll see what else I need done. The plan is Noodles Pacanth with a blue sauce; Alu likes the dri'lora better sometimes. Can you make a blue sauce?"

She set the pot on the stove and started frying the Pacanth scattergort petals. "And if you can't...well, I'm not sure I have much use for you, now do I?"

Uniodon passed his pipe to the Verpine, who handed his flask back to the old man. The loader droids weren't needed for ferrying the ships themselves, but the odd automatons were hard at work moving the docking equipment, fuel, spare parts, and ammunition.

"Bah!" Uniodon spat. It was half an emotional gesture, half a reflex from the strong Verpine moonshine. "Back in my day we didn't have all these fancy ships and weapons. A man had his lightsaber, his cloak, and a datapad if he was lucky!"

Crick clicked his mandibles together in the approximate equivalent of a verpine laugh. "Old man, back in your day the Old Republic was still new and Palpatine was a file clerk. Instead of Star Destroyers they had Ships Going After Accretion Disks of Hydrogen."

Uniodon almost spat whiskey. He would have, if the stuff weren't so hard to get ahold of here on Ossus.

"Ah, alright. I think you've passed the 'witty banter' bit of your Knighthood trial. Let me show you what we have in store."

In the half an hour dinner had been cooking, Arice had stripped the pit droid to components, repaired several components and put it all back together including retro-fitting some ordinarily non-compatible components, the whole sensor array had been upgraded, his gears, pulleys and motivators were all upgraded, some with better parts from Iara's parts bin and some by a simple - re-wiring to make them, more efficient. Even the voice module was tweaked over, to give him a more fluid voice and a broader vocabulary. All back together he micro welded all the seams and holes in the panels, so the original damage was invisible.

All finished he used a mechanised polisher to clean any signs of work being done, then gave the joints a final dib of perma oil.

When he activated the droid, it moved with a new fluidity, looking almost alive. It looked up at him, almost in wonder, then examined it's shiny, more dextrous hands and leapt off the workbench before running into the kitchen.. Arice wiped his hands off with a rag, before following the little droid into the kitchen. There was an air of awkwardness as he entered, subtle - as if he'd interrupted something, he gave Iara and Adam a sheepish smile as he wandered over to the basin and began washing his hands, "Hmmmm, smells great Iara! Erm, hope your happy with your droid..."

"Negative lass. The New Republic military saw fit that I be escorted by another fine design." He pulled up his wrist comlink which was linked to his ships central computer core. There is displayed the image of the distant Divinity Class Star Destroyers in orbit. "Those be Divinity's, beautiful ships, but Ms. Deveraux didn't design 'em alone." He was quick to point out. "One of yer own Republicans helped out on that one." He said with a toothy grin before turning back to the Stealth-X. "Yeah these babies will do you Jedi just fine, get you in and out of nowhere!" He smacked his forehead hard. "Oh right, I got ye a message regarding one of yer own. Top secret stuff, I already know of it but it comes from an outfit called Havoc Squadron." He nodded to himself.

"Under the command of Jedi Knight Aaralyn Blackthorne. It's in regards to her current status." His friendly mannerisms seemed to dissipate with that state, turning to a cold tone.

OOC - Vague would come in at this point, I haven't caught him up to speed yet but I will soon. So I will be doing the holo message.

"We understand Master Jana Dophi, the Order's chief librarian, is in command of the flotilla. Our Temple librarian, Disaara Lon, asked me to relay a welcome."

Jana had come to the bridge of the vessel, and so naturally, Salvatore had shifted to her shoulder. He sat, his tail swinging slowly, gently brushing against her back. Every once in a while, he lightly patted Jana's hair, which was done up in a bun. At the beginning of the trip, he had sworn that he would assassinate her bun, claiming that it had done him great injustice. He wouldn't explain what this injustice was, or how it had come to pass, just that there was now a vendetta between Salvatore E. Salmurian, Son of Akain Karna and Caitlyn DeVries, and Jana Dophi's hair. The Anuran had accussed Renato of being in on the conspiracy and had ventured to say that he was not really blind, but doing the bidding of the hair bun and using his supposed blindness as a cover story. Tone had responded by disabling a lot of what his datapad could access. But then again, this was Salvatore E. Salmurian, so that hadn't stopped him for long.

The ships had entered orbit now and were headed down towards the planet below. Following the instructions indicated, the flotilla moved almost as one. They had gotten in touch with the New Republic and had requested a number of escort vessels, but there was nothing larger than a Victory-class Star Destroyer. Their journey had been one that would be quick, and neither the New Republic nor the Jedi had anticipated anyone attempting to attack the Jedi. As it stood, the small grouping of New Republic ships had remained in orbit of Ossus, waiting for the signal that they were able to return to their home base.

OOC: If anyone wants to make a Jedi Char and say that they came over with the group from Onderon, feel free to, at this point in time. I'm going to let Beorht handle the landing itself, though honestly, I guess it's an NPC-it moment.

OOC/ Yeah, Mirr, it's an NPC thing - I posted that so you knew who was doing what and such.

IC/ "I am!" Iara turned from final preparations as Quirk cavorted around the kitchen with Alu. "He's never moved smoother. Nicely done, Arice. Thank you. Here - help me carry this in."

The pasta and snack foods and salad and rolls soon covered the table. Iara sat at the head, with Alu to her right. She fed her daughter the peeled dri'lora. "Adam - would you mind serving while I take care of the munchkin?"

Adam acquiesced with good grace, and the dinner commenced. It had an awkward edge, she realized soon. But she could work past that.

"So Adam - when Arice and I were out sparring, some big ships landed. They're not part of the flotilla from Onderon. What's with them?"

As Arice took his seat he smelled the good food and felt remarkably at home. It felt like a whisper of normality in a life-time of furiours storms. He looked at the man known as Adam Sage, he looked remarkably ordinary, considering the impressive feat he'd pulled off against Malakai's Force Phantoms...

He looked up to Adam for the response about the large ships.

Keira Sage scowled as she watched Ember's demonstration. Where's the fun in all this sneaking around? Just hit 'em hard and hit 'em fast, that's how I do things. Having seen enough she turned from the scene and started to walk away just as Jace and Felicity were walking towards her.

"Keira," Felicity said when she saw her cousin, "where are you going?"

"For a walk," the girl said simply not even stopping to chat.

Felicity watched her cousin leave for a moment then shook her head. "Sheesh, what is with her?" She complained to Jace, "She's so hard to approach."

"Those?" Adam finished chewing. "They're some sort of self-contained mobile praxeum - like a very small Chu'unthor, conceptually. About seven hundred meters. To tell the truth, we're trying to centralize the Jedi Order quite a bit. A lot of Jedi have been packed into a too-small facility on Onderon for a while, and there are even some left on that modified Ithorian herd ship. But even if we get everyone here, make this place their base of operations - we still wouldn't have enough people to man those ships. So we're loaning them to the Antarian Rangers, our hosts and backup. And when Jedi work with the Rangers, which happens all the time, they'll have training facilities easily available. It's a compromise, and it feels a little ungrateful, but reality is reality." He twirled another ball of noodles on his fork. "Now those starfighters - we have a use for those, absolutely."

"Starfighters?"

"She also sent us some state-of-the-art fightercraft. Those are earmarked for a special project, though." About to eat, he paused. "Iara, you're formally part of the Order now. Have you given any thought to what you'd like to do within the Order? And you, Arice - you've been through a lot recently, too. Of course we have all sorts of things that need doing, but what would you two like to do?"

Iara chewed slowly, thinking.

"You were a sector governor for the Sith Empire," Adam said as she ate, "so you have administrative and strategic experience. You've commanded warships in battle, played politics."

"With Mikhail-"

"Your role as a mentor to my brother makes it even more important that you have something specific to do. Once he wakes up, he's going to need you to be as solid as you can be. Now, if you're worried about being technically a Knight, don't be. You're in good company. Arice here is long overdue for Master, and Ember Rekali waited a long time, too. It won't limit your...let's call them career options. What do you want to do?"

"Adam...I'm not sure I'm ready for that. Sometimes I still feel like I'm putting myself together."

Arice felt someone muddled by this conversation... He hadn't thought about 'what he wanted to do' he'd just drifted from doing what needed doing at one moment to the next since he'd rejoined the order. Long overdue Master? Yes, he was technically a Knight, but he didn't think of himself as a Knight or Master, barely even Jedi - he'd been too pre-occupied fighting things, rescuing people or similar... He thought back to that moment while the purge was being staged, and the Jedi were about to disperse and go into hiding, Master Yoda had said to him, "Arice Quinn, upon you - the title of Master I bestow." He'd turned his back the little green Jedi ,"You can't do that, part of being a Master is having trained a Knight - and I haven't successfully done that." Yoda had been quite insistant, "Ready for the trials, Krokk was..."

The arguement hadn't lasted long, Yoda had known stubborn-ness and maybe even expected it from a Zabrak...

Lost in his thoughts Arice looked up, "I hadn't really thought about it Master Sage, I suppose technically I should make another attempt to train a padawan... I think that would be a good start. I'm good at fixing things and making things... Beyond that I really had no particular plans."

There wasn't much to be said, Gelroy had a message for the Grand Master of the Order, or atleast someone on the Jedi Council and it had come from a higher authority within the New Republic than he dared to question. He kept his eyes and mouth to himself as he moved through the Ossus Temple. They atleast informed him they were headed towards the location of L'hnnar, some Whiphid Jedi Master. The Antarian Rangers who flanked him gave him an odd feeling of itchy fingers as they pressed forward into the room in which the Jedi Master was located. The lead ranger stepped forward and bowed softly at the waist and spoke. "Master L'hnnar, This Captain has an important message for you in regards to a Jedi Commander, one Aaralyn Blackthorne. It's of the highest priority from the Republic."

L'hnnar looked over his shoulder at the news, at the sound of the name "Aaralyn Blackthorne." She had been his student for a time, training with him alongside Tone Krellisk. He considered it a personal favor to Faarel Blackthorne, one of his first students, to teach his daughter the ways of the Force. In his time as a Jedi General for the Old Republic, especially during the Clone Wars, the words "important message" and "highest priority," especially when it was referring to an individual, never meant anything but bad news. "Bring him in," he instructed the Ranger. He allowed the other his leave. "What news do you bear, captain?" he asked.

The spacer proceeded to tell what he had learned of the Blackthorne Jedi in recent weeks. She had arrived on scene at Alsakan shortly after the Charon devastated the world, and confronted Sivter only to be defeated herself. Sivter sent her off to fight against Darth Trayus, with the help of some form of Force crystal. They had a tracking device on her, which lead to Cylon, then the Kuat sector. She was still on the move, but her final destination remained unknown.

L'hnnar stroked his beard thoughtfully once the captain was finished. Aaralyn was, no doubt, in over her head. If she faced off against Darth Trayus, and lived, yet Trayus himself was still at large, he could only surmise one possible conclusion. Which also bode ill about her venture to the Kuat sector... did it have anything to do with the news reports he had heard of? "Thank you, captain," he said neutrally. "We will be sure to launch an investigation into the matter."

By the time the second training droid hit the ground, Guun was dripping sweat. Trying to train himself past his normal point of comfort, Guun had set the training difficulty up a few levels so he would be fighting four training droids instead of the usual two. The first two were already smoldering piles of rubble as the other two circled around him with their vibroblades whirling through the air. Focusing his energy, Guun did his best to keep both droids in eyesight even as they circled around him trying to draw his attention in multiple directions.

This never does get easier, he reflected to himself.

Suddenly, the first droid attacked with a large arcing slash towards Guun’s head while the second came in with a slash at his legs. Luckily, Guun had seen the second attack coming and was able to jump as he blocked the first droids’ attack. As the second droid tried to recover from his missed low swing, Guun connected a kick with the droids’’ head sending it clattering to the floor for the moment. Buying the time, Guun went on the offensive with the other droid. Slashing over and over with his remaining energy, Guun kept the droid on the retreat until finally the droid began to return the favor and went on the offensive. Sparks flew as the lightsaber and vibrobalde clashed over and over, Guun did his best deflecting the incoming blows until finally a strike caught him in the hip causing him to drop to the ground.

As the droid went for the killing blow, Guun was able to sweep the droid’s legs out from under it and press his advantage. That was until the second droid regained its feet. Trying to take advantage of the momentary distraction, the second droid charged Guun while his back was turned. Then, calling upon the Force, Guun grabbed the second droid and threw it into the first sending both back into a group of trees. By this point, Guun could feel the fatigue growing, he wasn’t sure how much more he could take before the droids got the best of him and when that happened he’d be stuck in the medbay and unable to let it go.

Calling upon the last of his strength, Guun rushed the downed droids and unleashed his final assault. Hacking through the trees, Guun came upon the droids and in a flurry cut down the first droid before the second even reached its feet. Breathing heavily, Guun stared at the final droid, “This is where this ends,” he said taking his battle stance. The droid charged him swinging high, a textbook move. Blocking easily, Guun grabbed the droid and in a swift move threw the droid behind him while swinging his lightsaber in an arc to slash at the droid’s back.

Whirling around the droid charged one last time swinging the vibroblade wildly until finally after many parries, Guun blocked an attack and slashed at the unprotected midsection, cutting the droid in half.

“So,” Guun muttered to himself drenched in sweat, “next level isn’t always better.”

No plans. Adam thought, Adrift in a sea. He moved the fork around the plate a little looking between the two. He was about to speak, mouth agape, when suddenly the man dropped his utensil and grabbed his forehead. Pain. "Something has happened." Adam said standing up from the table. When he accepted the post heading the Jedi order he accepted that each and every member of the fledgling Order was a member of his family to be protected, and now something awful had happened to his family. "I need to excuse myself." The Grand Master stood and headed to to the door giving a reassuring smile to Alu, no need to frighten the girl, before exiting.

As Adam walked down the hallways heading towards the council chamber a Antarian Ranger approached him bearing a datapad. "Sir." He said. "I was just coming to see you." Adam extended his hand and retrieved the datapad without bandying words. He signaled the ranger to follow him as he walked towards the council chamber. After examining the data he looked up at the Ranger and stopped just before the council chamber. "I want you to to inform all members of the council present of what transpired here." he said. The Ranger saluted and walked off to perform his duty.

A small astromech droid sat near the council chambers plugged into a data terminal. Adam recognized the droid as his brothers, aptly named Droid. He was no doubt gather research for his master. "Driod." Adam said, "I have a mission for you, top priority." The droid tooted enthusiastically and rolled about in a small circle. "I need you to fetch Ember Rekali and bring him to me." Droid tooted and hollered before darting off down the hall as fast as it's wheels could take it.

Adam walked into the Jedi Council chamber and unlocked a small recording device. Pressing the button he activated a temple intercom, he let his finger off the talk button for a moment to gather his thoughts. "You have all heard of the news reports indicating a Rogue Imperial Faction has stolen an imperial super star destroyer." he began pausing for a moment, "We have received word that this ship has destroyed our enclave on Onderon. We are no strangers to tragedy. In our lifetimes we've seen Jedi slaughtered, Temples desecrated, Masters fallen and Padawans corrupted. But we have learned to adapt, to endure and to overcome, we may not know what we have to do, but we know how we have to do it:
without fear, and without anger.

Murderers who hide behind their traditions must be prevented from further atrocities! We have the mandate and the responsibility to stop these people, and we are the only force who can. The Republic has other concerns; our allies in the Anari Alliance, and the Antarian Rangers may help us, but the Force alone can give us the insight and ability to stand against those who seek our destruction. They hate us for our belief that people can be better, that self-interest fails before what is right. Our newest generation of Knights will feel the temptations of revenge. We must fight this urge and instead seek justice. This must be our rallying cry.

Righteous indignation turns far too quickly into hatred and prejudice, which corrupts the soul. we must be patient with the concerns and the feelings of our younger members. Otherwise, even if we cripple this ship and capture the people responsible we will lose the war. We must be examples of justice, not revenge, not holy war. We are keepers of the peace." Adam released the button and sighed a little. A Rogue Imperial group? It didn't feel right. Before they could act they needed more information, they needed to be in possession of all the facts.

Iara felt...well, not a lot, really. She'd sensed worlds die before, tremors in the Force, but whatever this was, it was on such a relatively low level that she might have felt a bit queasy, no more. Only instinct told her that Adam was reacting to a disturbance in the Force.

As the door closed behind Adam, she set herself to feeding Alu.

"How's everything?" she said to Arice, making a joke of business as usual.

"And you are...Droid?"

The astromech spun and tootled with adolescent glee at another errand accomplished. At Ember's side, the bronzed protocol droid adjusted its angle of inclination with as much care as a geriatric going for extra jello. Ten years ago, it had been top of the line. "Droid informs you that Master Sage wishes to see you, sir."

"Does he mention where?"

Ember tilted his head as the Temple intercom hummed to life. Master Sage's voice rang through the Temple complex; here in the training halls, it resounded with special force. Not waiting to pack up his gear, Ember set off through the halls, exited the training pyramid, and trotted across the complex to the slim bridge. It had no railing, but he walked it quickly, then entered the small Council Chamber building on an independent spur of rock. He liked walking over the waterfall.

"Master Sage," he said formally, entering the Council Chamber. "What do you need me to do?"

The Grandmaster turned, and once again Ember was struck by Sage's relative youth. At a guess, Ember had five or ten years on him, and some of the other Masters were even older. The Grandmaster struck Ember as a disciplined and focused firebrand. The sense of paradox was only amplified by a youthful face and a strong presence in the Force. Old enough to know what he was doing; young enough to not know what he couldn't accomplish. For these times, ideal.

"Ember. Did you feel it?"

"No"

Sage grimaced and sat in his Council chair. Ember remained standing. "That's right - you don't know many people at the Onderon Jedi enclave."

"I helped build it," Ember said, "but no."

"You need to accelerate the timetable for the Shadows. Do you have candidates in mind?"

"A few. And I've talked to some."

"Nail them down. Start training tonight if you can. Focus on law enforcement or intelligence experience; I'd rather have ex-CorSec Knights with average Force skills than kids who know how to make themselves invisible. The right mindset is key. Maturity is important here."

Ember just nodded. He knew what to look for; they'd discussed this earlier, but he sensed Adam needed to talk right now. The Grandmaster paused and looked up at him. "We have a Jedi Knight who works for NRI; get her. We have some who used to work for CorSec; talk to them. I know I'm giving you almost no time to forge a team and teach them what they need to know, but..."

"I understand. I'll get on it right away." He bowed and exited, walking quickly. As he passed over the narrow bridge to the main island, he stopped and stared down the waterfall.

Why did I agree to this? This is the same job I did for Lyn as a Detori. What makes me think it'll be any different now?

But there was no time for such questions. And so he walked back down the bridge into the city complex and set about finding his people.

Arice looked up from his plate, 'How are things? How were things?' He was alive... that was just about everything positive he could say about his current situation - though a chance to train with someone and a good meal... These factors were improving his outlook.

"Things are looking up Iara, I can't say things have been great recently... Hmmm, well not since I rejoined the order.... Hmmm, come to think of it, if I had to compare the times when I WAS an active Jedi to when I wasn't - I'd have to say life was far easier and at face value, far better as a non-Jedi... The trouble is there's always something missing - you can take a man out of the Jedi order, but you can't take the Jedi Order of the man... How about yourself? Is Alu a relation? I'm finding it hard to sense... Though I must admit, whenever I don't have a blade in my hand, I feel my connection to the force is very weak... All the years of hiding out? Old habits dying hard? It will return in time... Tell me more about yourself, I know you're Twi'Lek, who is an excellent Jar Kai practicioner, a fantastic cook, little else - tell me your story?"

He'd thought of saying 'attractive Twi'Lek' - she was, but he was an old man, she was a young girl and he didn't want to embarrass a potential friend, particularly one who had been so kind to him. Even if he'd been 30 years younger, the life he'd led, the emotional and mental baggage he was hauling around with him, like a millstone around his neck... He'd lived as a loner, and it seemed he'd die a loner - if he could do some good along the way, and rescue Rissk, maybe somehow do something about 'Darius Malakai' along the way - well he'd take that and be happy, relationships, happiness - that was for the young.

OOC: As it will become obvious, this takes place between Halc's and Beorht's posts....

IC:
L'hnnar had felt it, just as Adam had. Like the grandmaster, he knew many from the Onderon temple; he had to, having served as its headmaster for the better part of the past year. He wondered if Tone had felt the disturbance, as well. When the Ranger had informed him of the news, L'hnnar had already known. There was no other explanation for how he felt, there was only one other connection to such a level he had, and it would not have been felt at such a magnitude. He thanked the Ranger, all the same, and proceeded to the Council chambers. It felt strange, being on the Council. It wasn't a concept he was used to, much less a position he ever expected to hold. Yet when Adam approached him with the offer, what would he have said? Serving on the Council was a great honor, and evidently he did something that Adam liked which gained him that position.

As Adam wrapped up his speech, L'hnnar cleared his throat. "Master Sage," he began, "I recently received information regarding one Aaralyn Blackthorne, a former apprentice of mine... she had gone missing since her attempted assist at Alsakan just after Sivter's assault on the world. Reliable sources had managed to track her movements from the Alsakan system, to Cylon, and to the Kuat sector. No doubt the official reports seem a bit off, especially given news of this Star Destroyer matching the description of the one stolen. I hardly find it coincidental that Aaralyn's arrival in the Kuat sector happen to be at the same approximate time of the changing of hands of this Star Destroyer." He hated to admit this, but he wouldn't have been the first Jedi Master to have an apprentice, official or not, fall to the dark side. He was open to the possibility, however, that she had not strayed from the Light. "I'm not saying that she was involved in any way... but it does suggest that the official reports of this 'rogue Imperial faction' are false."

He then remembered something. It was in the moments following his departure to Ruusan. He had been informed of this even shortly after his return to Ossus. An explosion, caused by what some had claimed to be a malfunctioning droid. But malfunctioning droids did not state warnings. "I believe Onderon was a warning," he said, following the brief moment of silence. "Some of you may have heard of the incident at the Jedi Temple, during the call to arms to Ruusan. The droid stated that... Taylon was just the beginning... and they intended to finish what they started." L'hnnar frowned. Onderon couldn't have been the intended final target, however. But this was no coincidence. "If I may offer a suggestion, Master Sage... I believe that those whom attacked Onderon could have been the very same people who destroyed the City of the Jedi."

OOC: I'm going to drop Faye in here but I still intend on finishing up her story in Shadows of War.

IC: A beaten and battered Republic cruiser jumped out of hyperspace over the planet Ossus. Jedi Master Faye Ward stood on the bridge, her eyes wandering over the scarred surface of the planet and then the Jedi flotilla in orbit. Why are Jedi from Onderon here? The question left a sour note in the pit of her stomach and somehow she knew something must have happened. One thing after another. After the news she received in the galactic core about the possible fate of the galaxy the least she could have hoped for was to not come home to even more bad news.

"Your shuttle is ready," a young Republic officer told her.

Faye simply nodded at him but said nothing. She followed the young man to the hangar bay where Arilyn and Anastasya were waiting for her. Commander Kiph bid her a brief farewell and then they were on board the shuttle and heading towards the planet. Faye had a lot on her mind while she was in transit. The true origins of Arilyn's people were surprising but even more surprising than that was Arilyn's connection to Laeradr. As she thought about it the wound she received from the former Linshi Monk began to throb and anymore thoughts on Laeradr and the future of the galaxy were dashed away.

The trip to the landing pad and the subsequent hovercar ride to the temple were carried out in silence. Even Arilyn was deep in thought as she pondered the new truths she had just learned about herself. Upon arriving at the temple the three parted ways and Faye, determined to meet with Grandmaster Sage, made her way straight towards the Jedi Council chambers. When she arrived the various members of the Jedi Council, some new faces included, were already deep in conversation. Faye quietly made her way to her seat and sat down as she listened to L'hnnar.

"Wait a minute," she blurted out suddenly when L'hnnar had finished his assessment about their enemy, "'attacked Onderon'? When? How?"

The others turned to look at her, some with expressions that seemed to say, 'how do you not know this?' Faye's cheeks started to turn red so she quickly offered an explanation. "I'm sorry," she apologized, "but I've recently just returned from--somewhere else."

She didn't feel it prudent to talk about what she learned just yet. Bad news stacked on top of even more bad news was the last thing the Order needed right now. No, she would discuss it with Adam alone when she had the chance.

"Alu is my daughter," she said. "My husband was Lyn-Char Beorht, a Zeltron. Alu was conceived with genetic engineering - so she looks fully Twi'lek, but has pheromonal abilities like her father." She smiled fondly at the kid, who was chowing down on the peeled dri'lora.

"I worked for the Sith Empire for a long time. Lyn was on the run from the Detori, and he came to us for sanctuary; that's how we met. Then the Sith Empire sent me to conquer this whole area. I ruled the Anari Sector for a few years, turned to the Light Side while fighting the Xen'Chi, and left this sector to its own devices. When Lyn died and my Apprentice, Mikhail, disappeared...I guess I just started wandering. Me, Alu and Quirk. We ran into Adam and his people while they were liberating the sector, fighting Darth Sirena, and we helped out with that. A lot of battles...

"That's about it. I could talk about my childhood, about how I learned from the Theran Listeners on Nam Chorios, what it was like working directly for Norik Kun..." She shrugged. "I've lost some friends and done a lot of good and bad. That's about all there is to me."

Arice chewed his food and mulled on every word. So she'd been a Darksider? A Sith no less... It changed his opinion of her somewhat, he didn't want it to - she was still an attractive young Twi'Lek, who had fought valiantly in the valley - yet she'd been a darksider... She'd used the darkside...

He shrugged, "Master Yoda used to say, ' Once you have started down the dark path - forever will it dominate your destiny' I don't know if it's true - I've never been tempted by the darkside - I think it's a matter of principle. We are supposed to be a civilised society with morals, without morals we might as well be animals... Do you feel committed to abstaining from using the darkside? Or are you a grey knight, calling on both disciplines, believing that the end justifies the means? I'm not being rude, or critical - I'm only interested."

It was hard to put out as non-critical, but he genuinely was not looking to offend, the very concept of falling to the darkside was so alien to Arice Quinn, that he could barely comprehend an individual doing it...

"It's not as if I was ever a Jedi," she said defensively. "The Theran Listeners do good and such, and I picked up bits and pieces from others, but it's not as though I fell to the Dark Side so much as sauntered vaguely downward. I was raised like anyone else, with a mix of morals and pragmatism; nothing like the Jedi ethos. Of course, once I got to the Sith, I was still fairly young - I don't even think I'd turned thirty at that point." She grinned. "Thirty-four now, in case you were wondering. In any case, no, I'm not gray. I turned away from the Dark Side psychologically and spiritually a couple of years ago, and the leftover traces of Dark energy in my body were purged when Adam created the light on Ruusan. That decreased the addictive symptoms, which I was successfully resisting anyways. I am now, and have been for a while, farther towards the Light Side than some Jedi I could name."

For an instant there was something ugly in her eyes. "After all, Alu spent her first few years being raised by Darksiders. I wouldn't do that to her again."

Arice listened to what Iara had to say. He couldn't hate for it, in some respects she had to be admired for making the decision to turn away from the darkside. In the old republic there was always a culture of teaching to resist the darkside, and he knew some of his fellow students had failed in that respect despite the teachings. So the fact that Iara had effectively chosen to turn her back on the darkside without even a point of reference, seemed to be quite admirable and impressive.

"Hmmmm, well - they say it's easier to resist falling to the darkside than to fall then return into the light... In the Old Republic - it was a big part of Jedi culture to talk about 'resisting' the darkside and how once you'd gone down the dark path forever would it dominate your destiny. I knew several Jedi who, after the purge went into hiding, but without the framework of the Jedi Order - found themselves also meandering down the dark path, becoming bounty hunters, mercenaries or a simple 'sabre for hire' and using their abilities for ways in which the Jedi Order would never have approved... "

He chewed his food and thought carefully, "I wonder if maybe part of why I spent so long in hiding, and why I was so... Why I distanced myself so much from the Jedi way of life was because in the circumstances at the time, trying to wield a sabre and use the force was impossible without compromising your morals, your principles... "That makes sense..."

Alu began to make a fuss; Quirk bundled her off, leaving Iara and Arice alone at the table.

"In my limited experience, you're right. I mean, it's all about your level of accountability, right? If Alu throws a tantrum and some toys get levitated or broken, that's not so bad - she's a little kid. A Jedi is more accountable than a regular person because of the commitments he's made, the truths he's internalized, the principles he's accepted as fact. So yes, from what I've seen, a Jedi who falls often becomes a more vicious and hardened Darksider than someone like me. Naga Sadow and Palpatine did some serious damage - but Exar Kun, Revan, Malak, Darth Vader, they were all Jedi once.

"You were a Jedi before the Purge?" Her forehead furrowed. "You saw it all, then. I've heard people talk about the flaws of the old Order. The Zeison Sha, the Iron Knights, the Teepo Paladins, Djinn Altis...all these groups that were driven out, alienated, judged and condemned for slight differences in belief. I'm not talking about that Potentium nonsense. But people who know what they're talking about have told me the old Order had serious problems. What was your perspective?"

The Temple intercom rang. Even here, in one of the old stone apartment buildings, the Temple public address system could be heard. It was Adam's voice.

"You have all heard of the news reports indicating a Rogue Imperial Faction has stolen an imperial super star destroyer. We have received word that this ship has destroyed our enclave on Onderon. We are no strangers to tragedy. In our lifetimes we've seen Jedi slaughtered, Temples desecrated, Masters fallen and Padawans corrupted. Arice had been about to speak when the announcement echoed from the communicator. Yet more tragedy had struck... His starship and jet-bike were still at the temple on Onderon - he'd left the access key in the ship, his only hope was that someone had managed to use it to evacuate...

He wasn't sure whether to react to the announcement or Iara's question, it seemed he couldn't leave it unanswered, "The Old Order had it's problems as did the Old Republic, naivity, burocracy, too much talk and not enough action... Overconfidence... The main reason the Old Order fell, as did the Old Republic - was because neither believed it was possible for it to fall. The trouble is Iara, we all try our best to live within the conventions of what is right and wrong, good practice and bad practice and meet the expectations of our peers, our society... But it's all a fantasy, nothing is really black and white, it's all shades of grey and we innocently try to saunter into the brighter shades and live the lives we think are right... We're all just people at the end of the day, I think the Old Repbulic had to fall, as did the Old Order, the slate needed to be wiped clean, some the traditions and beliefs that were held were simply held because they had always been held. The Galaxy is a changing place - our perspective has to change with it...."

He paused, "Do you think we should go and see if we can find out more about Onderon? "

Ossu Ikari was behind the controls of a stolen... Stolen? Borrowed, Kuat Vanguard, a small freighter, she'd found in the hangars at the temple on Onderon.

It was a fairly spartan ship, it looked fairly new - except for a layer of dust over everything that implied a few weeks of non-use at least. It even had a shiny new, albeit dusty Repulsor Bike in the rear...

Part of her felt guilty, guilty for leaving Onderon without her master, guilty for taking someones ship without their permission... Of course the latter she could rationalise - she'd saved the ship from destruction and was returning it.

She was more concerned about her master Ansaria'vator... She'd seen the ship and instructed Ossu and some other padawans to flee, for Ossus... She'd really wanted to stay, and face the danger - but she was an obedient apprentice and trusted that Ansari knew the will of the force.

When she'd landed in the hangar, her contemporaries left without a word - each lost in their thoughts. Ansari looked at the keycard in the ignition slot. It had a name on it 'Arice Quinn'. She would have to try to discover Ansari's where abouts later - for now - she would find this 'Arice Quinn' no doubt he'd be pleased to discover his ship hadn't been destroyed...

Kayla Masi walked through the halls of the Jedi Temple with wonder in her eyes. She had never seen anything like this. The Temple at Onderon had been pretty, but this was different. She was just a smuggler from Contruum, who had found out only a few months ago that she had the ability to wield the Force. She hadn't been able to believe that someone like her could have this ability. Looking back on her life, it made sense, because she had been able to do things without any explanation as to why. She had chalked it up to luck, but the Jedi that had told her that she could use the Force had been rather dead set on the fact that it was explainable through the Force. A part of her had been a little happier thinking that it was luck. If it was luck, then she didn't really have to do anything, did she? It just happened. Once she had found out that it was this Force thing, her worry had been that it wouldn't just happen, because she knew about it. Now she needed to learn, to figure out how to do it. She had been lost in the shuffle at Onderon. Also, she didn't think that she was the age that most Jedi looked for when they looked for apprentices. She was in her mid-20s, after all.

Walking through the Jedi Temple, she wondered if she would run into someone that she knew from Onderon.

The subtle vibrations of a ship in flight, tiny tremors caused by electric currents, radiating energy, and whirring machinery were all comforts to an animal with hypersonic hearing - an animal hiding in a storage compartment on Arice Quinn's ship. The meter long wolf creature could hear, feel, and sense when the ship's engines cooled and exhaust ports whistled. Safety.

Exiled from his homeworld, forgotten in a haze of silence, the young Codru-Ji had nearly perished on Onderon with no one to protect him. He had no way to communicate with these aliens, but he was stranded. Munto Cudro, his home for nearly seven years before he arrived on Onderon, was the last place in the galaxy he would ever see again. What is the meaning of life without a home? Without family, friends, or even a name? A whimper slipped from his slick, black lips.

The sounds of shuffling feet stirred the wyrwulf into action. It was time to depart this ship - to go from one lonely asylum to another. The young creature lifted his nimble frame on three pairs of legs and sauntered out from his hiding spot. He was a wiry creature, more thin than one might expect of a wolf. His hair was jet black from the top of his head to the tip of his tale, but his chest and paws were a dull gray. The last grooming session had obviously been long ago since his hair stood up in random patches. There was one alien left in the ship, a Twi'Lek as far as the wyrwulf could tell. Perhaps she knew where to get food? The young, collarless animal continued his slow, calculated walk up to Ossu Ikari. Yes, surely she would lead him to food.

Ossu watched the rest of the apprentices who had fled the temple bombardment and rose with a sigh. She was a lethan a rare, red-skinned Twi'Lek of fairly short stature. Unusually she wore brilliant white robes, dazzlingly clean and crisp looking. The other remarkable feature about her was the unusual golden bejewelled headpiece she wore. It was unusual particularly for a Jedi Twi'Lek, as it was clearly a piece of slave jewelry, not just there for decoration, but there as means of preventing her from moving her Lekku in the normal way. it therefore prevented her from communicating in the Twi'Lek language, probably fitted because some previous owner had feared her communicating secretly. Her head was crowned with a form fitted helmet-like structure which seemed to hold the Lekku in a downward position, then as the two brain tails draped over her shoulders and chest, they were then linked together, with three gold bands were fitted tightly to each Lekku linked to it's twin on the opposite Lekku with a gold chain, forcing them to remain draped in front, unable to be separated.

She was about to leave the ship when she sensed something moving about, she turned and scanned the ship, only to see a wiry, hairy form, barely identifiable slinking around looking sorry for itself. She walked over and looked closer at the creature, she thought she could see the creatures ribs just showing behind the mass of matted fur. She leaned lower, "You look like you could use a good meal, come on."

With the key in her hand she left the ship, locked it and retreated to the cantina with the creature in tow. A few eyebrows were raised as she approached the cantina with the ferral looking creature at her heel - so she walked past and allowed it to follow her to the rear of the cantina where the back door to the kitchens were. She slipped inside and returned with a large plate of scraps and a bowl of water, she placed them on the floor for the creature then ruffled the fur on it's head in a friendly way, then stood up to think about where to find this 'Quinn'.

Good decision.

The wyrwulf lapped up the water and indulged in the scraps. Meat, bread, deliciousness. He released a low volume howl and nudged Ossu's knee with his nose as a gesture of friendship. Soon the alien was gone and the wyrwulf was left to his own devices and a full stomach. He hadn't been on Onderon long before it was attacked, but it was just his luck that he'd have to escape yet another planet after just getting used to the surroundings. If only he could find a bed, or even a purpose. Father... why? Why were your constituents more important than me? The unusual politics of Munto Cudro, the ritual kidnappings of wyrwulves... unfortunately this wolf drew the short straw. Xenophobic, isolationist Munto Cudro. Fools. They know not what they do.

The wyrwulf wandered the premises, his six paws gracefully working in unison. Kitchens, lecture halls, dormitories, training centers, young Jedi padawans scurrying about with books and toys in their hands or on their backs - a supposed safe haven of wisdom and tolerance, but not much use for an animal like him.

If only I could speak...

The wyrwulf found himself in an outdoor training area, happy to smell some fresh air again. A Jedi was training... the wyrwulf could smell him, hear him... sense him. With nothing better to do, he decided to observe. The animal covered land quickly in the wilderness, his six padded paws missing every twig and leaf with instinctual prowess. Soon he came across Gunn, the man's light sword twinkling in the day light, fending off mechanical monsters created by the temple. The wyrwulf recognized all these things, but knew not what they were. He prowled in the bushes, watching Gunn's impressive display of combat. The Jedi seemed invincible, although this one lacked the same finesse of the masters - the short, quick movements that wasted no energy. Gunn finished off the last droid, slicing it in half before finally taking a moment to catch his breath and reflect.

But the whirring sound was still present... The Cudro-Ji of Munto Cudro have hypersonic ears, giving them the ability to hear frequencies that many different alien species are oblivious to. Frequencies like the ones these training droids power cores and thought processors give off. It's still active...

As a last act of defiance, the upper torso of a semi-functioning droid lifted it's chest off the ground with one half-severed arm in order to fit in one more swing of its vibro blade with a free hand. Gunn didn't see it, perhaps didn't sense the immediate danger so soon after finishing the training. The wyrwulf acted, leaping out from behind a bush with a triumphant howl. The animal pounced on the droid's back, sending it's photoreceptors straight into the forest floor. Gunn was back on his game now, sensing the arrival of the sentient lifeform and the danger of the droid. As though they had planned the entire thing, the wyrwulf jumped just as Gunn's brilliant saber stabbed straight down through the droid's mechanical cranium. The whirring finally ceased.

The wolf landed next to Gunn with his knees bent and his brow tensed in a canine scowl. The adrenalin slowly faded and the realization of safety set in. The wyrwulf's tale began to wag casually as he calmed down.

OOC: Just a couple of status posts from me to show that my characters are around. Kail’s is coming up…

IC: After arriving from Onderon, Chirushk wasted no time getting the medical wing into shape. The Mriss Jedi Master, while quite small compared to many other species, had no trouble making himself known. He floated around on a small repulsorlift disk that carried him from one point to another as he gave out orders and directions. The medical staff scrambled to comply or risk being berated by the notoriously cantankerous Master Healer.

Although the medical wing had been well designed and built, it still fell below Chirushk’s exacting standards, but he was determined to correct the long list of flaws he had spotted. The Old Bird of the Jedi Order had come to roost…

Guun felt himself in a state of awe, "Thanks little guy," Gunn said as he moved to pet the new creature. "Where did you come from?" he asked as he holstered his ligthsaber.

Staring at the creature, Guun found himself thinking, "Is this right? Will this be what's best for me?" Until finally Guun stepped forward and brough out a bit of snacks he had left in his bag.

"Hungry, little fella?" Guun asked as he produced a number of small food pellets.

"He is sentient, you know," a woman's voice said as she approached. Both Guun and the wyrwulf looked up to see a Jedi Knight walking towards them and behind her trailed a small child. "He is Codru-Ji, a species that is born as Wyrwulves but cocoon themselves at puberty and emerge as humanoid. You can talk to him normally, he will understand you."

Guun looked at the woman with a confused expression on his face that seemed to ask, 'Who are you?' When Jade noticed it her cheeks flushed a bit and she quickly held her hand out. "Forgive me," she apologized, "Jade Kitana, Jedi Historian. There are documents containing information about the Codru-Ji in this very temple if you're interested. Some of it recently recovered from the Great Jedi Library."

Down at the woman's feet the young Vrikan child, Sylva, stood halfway behind Jade's legs as she stared at the wyrwulf in front of her. Her tiny hand was engulfed in Jade's left palm, preventing the girl from escaping or approaching this strange creature that was now invading her space. She let out a low growl from the safety of her hiding spot that was as comical as it was adorable. Whether or not the wyrwulf felt challenged by her was anyone's guess, either way the young child was not dissuaded from defending her territory.
