Just a Night on the Town

Post by Nichalus »

Jason Free, the man the people on the Watchtower and within the JLA has come to know as Mister Miracle, stood looking at Spectacular for a moment, almost seemingly sizing her up, even being brash enough to lean to the side look at her ass, and then straightening up, putting his oranged gloved hand on his chin in contemplation.

"You look like a 4, but a 2 will probably look outstanding on you." He stated with a broad grin. "Mother...size 2, something in black I think would be appropriate, perhaps a Wang...oh wait..JLo, you know the one, and all the accessories..."

Turning to Fury, he shouts. "Fury, taking your girl out for a carafe of fine wine and a munch of real italian bread...won't be long, don't wait up, promise to have her home by midnight.....ish."

Fury and Tiffany both, at the same time, manage to get out a surprised "Wha..."

Ping...

The whirling vortex of the Boom Tube suddenly appears next to Jason and Tiffany, and with a resounding BOOM!, they both disappear within, and the tube vanishes.

At the same moment, with another BOOM!, the two of them appear from the tube in the middle of a elevator that is reverberating from the concussive force of the Boom Tube.

Jason's costume is gone, and now he wears a black silk jacket and casual slacks, with a white shirt and loose red tie, which he nonchalatily is pulling up and straighting, as he looks at himself in the mirrored walls of the elevator. "Whew, glad there wasn't anyone in here...the last time I did that, the poor folks just didn't look at me right the rest of the night."

Tiffany, was now wearing a form fitted gloss black leather vest with ties up the back, and equally form fitted black pants, with calf-high black stilletto boots, with a small black purse hanging from her shoulder.

Jason turns to her, gives her the once over, and smiles disarmingly. "Oh my...in a word....Spectacular!"

Before she can say anything, the doors to the elevator open, and the Greeter looks at them, with a semi-shocked look on his face. "Sir, Ma'dam...are you ok? The whole building suddenly shook....AH!..." He says as he suddenly recognizes Jason. "....Mr. Free! So good of you to come see us again! I hope that you and your...guest." He looks at Tiffany with a smile of approval. "Were not too surprised by the shaking."

“Again?” Tiffany asked with a smirk. “Does he come here often?” She asked.

“Oh, every now and then.” The greeter said. “You put all the other women to shame though.”

She turned and lifted an eyebrow at Free. “Other women, huh? And what would your mother say about that?” She asked, letting a smile grow on her face, before she started walking. The clothing she was wearing, interestingly enough was basically her actual costume, just changed to look different. All of her belongings, which had to be carefully stored on her person anyway, since the suit was skintight, were still there.

This was an interesting place, she had to admit. The decor was quite nice, and it was the nicest place that she’d been to in a while to eat, which was saying something, since she lived in downtown Manhattan.

"Oh now, please." Jason stated with a completely sincere smile. "I am not some roguish, one woman a night, wine, dine and bed man like...say...Isaiah Muir." He leans forward in a conspiratory manner and whispers to her. "He's quite the scoundrel from what I read in the Entertainment sections of the news."

He gently takes her arm, and places it through his own, and escorts her through the room. "Hey Jack!" He waves to the bartender, who smiles back with a nod and yells back. "What your pleasure tonight Jason?"

"How about that '64 Dom, and two glasses, Italian Appetizer Plate and have Sally bring it out please." Jason states as they continue to walk towards the large glass doors. "You see, I'm really not the naer'do well, that you see Tiff." He pauses for a moment, looks at her and smiles. "May I call you Tiff? It seems a more 'casual' for me, kind of a way to lighten the mood...so to speak."

"Anyway..." He really doesn't give her a chance to answer, as the large glass doors open, and they step out onto a balcony that has only one table. Decorative plants and low hedges surround the sides, and the edge that faces the skyline of Metropolis is a low solid glass barrier. The view is quite spectacular, as the setting sun hangs just on the edge of the mountainous range to the north of the bustling city. Metropolis harbor gleams in an orange-sheen, dotted with various sized ships, slowly moving through. The streets far below are bustling with people and vehicles making their way to their destinations. The giant globe on top of the Daily Planet suddenly lights up as the light of the day fades away.

He pulls out a chair for Tiffany to sit, and once she is comfortable, he moves to the other side and takes his seat. "Yes, I have brought a 'few' women here. But you shouldn't make a judgemental assumtion based on that. I appreciate the environment and atmosphere here, not to mention the view is ..well..." He merely gestures at the scenery.

"I like to share it with a beautiful woman, and strike up an equally stimulating conversation." He puts his hand on his chin and rests his elbow on the table with a sigh of almost frustration. "And trust me, it has been a challenge to find a person to sit where you are and have the latter part of my desire fulfilled. I have found that not all Earth Women are created equal. They have the beauty, but not the most intellectually stimulating conversationalists. And I abhor boring conversationalist."

"Boy, he's got that right." Comes the voice of Sally who steps out onto the balcony with a tray that holds a delicable and copious amounts of breads, oils, sauces, and various selections of fruits and vegetables. Following her, another waiter brings a silver bottle holder filled with ice and a dark green bottle of Dom Perigon. "He's actually had a few women escorted out because all they talked about was themselves. My boy Jason is a fairly picky guy. Some of the ones he brought in put Angelina Jolie to shame, but ....I've seen him in her too many times just by himself sitting out here looking at the sky." Sally continues with a shrug and arranges the food on the table for them and opens the bottle of Dom, and then pouring small initial amounts in each of their glasses.

Jason smiles with just a bit of uneasiness. "You have to forgive Sally, she has a nasty case of ...'big mouth'." He shooes her away and looks at Tiffany. "Sorry, she means well. Solitude is 'not' a bad thing....

Sally begins to leave, but then leans over to whisper in Jason's ear, while giving a big smile and look to Tiffany. "Go easy on her Jason, she looks like a winner to me."

"OH, and as for my 'mother'', as you brought up." Jason smiled broadly. "Mother, is quite fond of the experiences with the opposite sex that I have...and no, not in the manner in which that sounds."

"And trust me...If Mother doesn't like someone, she will most definately let me know about it."

A faint ..Ping.. sounds as if to agree with his statement.

“I wasn’t referring to the box, doofus.” Tiffany said. “Tiff does seem a bit too informal for us, just yet.” She added, before looking out at the view. It was a nice view and when she looked back at the table, she stomached a small grimace. One of the things that she did to keep the body that she had was to keep her carbohydrates intake low. Thankfully there was a decent selection of fruits and vegetables to keep her going. Just from the champagne alone, she’d have to watch the carb intake. “So, you’re not from earth, and you’re not exactly normal, that’s automatically got to put a damper on the conversations that can be had. I guess I’ll let you have the floor then and start us off with a topic.”

For perhaps the first time in the several conversations that he has had on this balcony, he smiled a genuine smile of approval. Many of the other females he had spoken to always talked about themselves, what they wanted, etc. None had ever asked about who 'he' was, or what he did for a living. It was perhaps the way he gave off a 'devil may care' attitude, or the fine clothes that Mother provided for him, or his attractiveness.

But then again, he wasn't so naive to forget that she was an Agent of SHIELD, and that no doubt they had little to no information about him since his arrival at the Watchtower, other than his association with Darkseid and that he obviously was the son of Scott Free and Big Barta. He held no delusions that she would report what she had learned about him to Fury.

"Well....Tiff." He grinned broadly. "I am, what you Earthlings call a New Gods..." He held up his hand at what he assumed would be a pre-conceived notion from her. "..No, it is merely the name of our race, I do not hold a conceit that I am some sort of divine being with unlimited powers that seeks to hold sway over all that bow before me."

"My mother was Big Barta, and my father of course was Scott Free..the original Mister Miracle. Both of whom..." For perhaps the first time, his smile disappears, and his face takes on a more serious look, as he looks away towards the city for a moment. "..are dead."

"Before their unfortunate demise, my parents trained me in their own particular brand of styles in preparation to fight against Darkseid and his forces. They trained me here on Earth since I was a teenager, knowing that it would be safer for me here than on New Genesis, so while I'm alien to your species, I've probably spent most of my life here on Earth."

"But then they heard of the impending invasion and took me back to New Genesis, but it ended up not making a difference at all..." he continues as within his mind he relives the last moment that he was with his parents.

..ping..ping...ping... Mother pings softly, in a way that sounds like she is trying to console him.

"Anyway..." Jason continues. "Darkseid made a surprise assaulted New Genesis, and we were not prepared. During the battle I watched my parents fall at his hands, and at that point Mother made the decision to get me to safety, and Boom Tubed us away. It was really shear coincidence that we arrived at the Watchtower, as Mother figured that it would be the safest place for me."

His frown lingers for a moment, and then he turns back to Tiffany, his smile slowly returning. "So, now I'm here to stay it appears. But I'm in good company....at least for the moment."

Touched, Tiffany reached her hands out and placed them on Free's. "I'm so sorry for your loss. That had to be difficult to deal with. My parents are still alive, they just got banged up a bit during the Chrell Invasion. My father's a lawyer while my mother's a dentist. I have an older sister, Kourtney, she actually works for S.H.I.E.L.D. as well. It's a long complicated story about how we got our powers and I'm not one to sit and talk about myself that much. It's not spectacular." She said. Tabling the issue of calling her "Tiff" for a later date, she smiled, taking a sip of the champagne, wanting to get his thoughts off of his parents and the loss that he'd experienced in his life. It was obvious that it still affected him, and that it had changed him in a great way. From the looks of it, he used the joking and witty remarks as a means to cover up what was going on inside. It wasn't the first time she'd dealt with someone who acted like that, using something else or a particular behavior to cover up how they were feeling. "Why don't we talk about something else. How about...tell me about the Mother Box?" She asked.

He looked down and felt her hand on his, and for a brief moment he revelled in the touch. But, then he looked up at her eyes, the pity, the sympathy, the feelings he did not wish to to see on anyone's face in these moments. For a moment, the very air, the table and the balcony itself, seems to slightly shimmer like a extremely thin sheet of metal shaken in the wind. To most, the effect feels like a sudden 'chill', as if a cold breeze wafted through the room.

He held up his other hand, and waggled his finger back and forth. "No, no, no..." He said with a smile like a mother telling a child not to touch a hot surface. "..we'll have none of that tonight. My tale of woe is not a subject that needs to be lingered on, nor illicit feelings of empathy on my behalf...not to mention, it confounds my 'good nature'.

Stemming the growing feelings of anger and vengence, which he keeps a 'very' tight wrap on due to his connection with the Anti-Life Equation, and recalling his father's teachings to control his emotions, he slowly pulls his hand away from Tiffany.

Settling back in his chair, he takes a prolonged drink from his glass and sighs contentedly with the taste. "One of the best things about your culture Tiff..." He says as he drains the last of his Dom, and then reaches for the bottle and refills his glass. He looks to see that Tiffany's is still half full, and then replaces the bottle in its ice bucket. "..the succulant tastes of your drinks, and the flavors of your foods. They are much like all humans...varied in style, taste and demeanor."

"As for Mother, she too is perhaps one of the last of her kind." He smiles warmly, as his normal upbeat composure returns. "She is my Guide, my Council, my Friend and Ally. But most important to me, she is the embodiment of 'both' my parents."

--Ping...Ping, Ping.....Ping..Ping..-- Comes the sound from the air around Jason, whom smiles broadly.

"You are most welcome Mother, and I mean every word of that." He answers to the wind.

"You see, much like my father did, the Mother Boxes, are not necessarily a 'box'. Truthfully, they can be anything. Any shape or form. My father had his built into his suit. I took a 'different' route, and perhaps a more radical one in some eyes. Mother is actually a 'part' of me." He smiles slightly in a playfully wicked grin. "Modesty forbids me to show you at this juncution of our relationship."

And there he did it again. Somehow manage to take a good conversation or moment and ruin it by being a smartass. Of course, Tiffany probably should have been very used to it. After all, she had worked hard for quite a while to pull Derrek Sheppard out of the mind state of self abuse that he'd been in for years. Once he'd lost his fiance, one of the former Captain America's had become a recluse, attempting to drink himself into a stupor. Unfortunately, his super soldier serum had stopped that, but that didn't mean he had tried, a lot. Already a wiseass, Derrek had taken things to the next level, lashing out through his words and actions. Other members of S.H.I.E.L.D. One had distanced themselves from him because of this behavior, but not Tiffany. She'd been in love with him and had watched from the sidelines as he'd been with another woman. She'd done her best to try to rehabilitate him, to be there for him and do what needed to be done to show him that life went on and that he needed to rejoin the land of the living. More than once Michaels had gone to bat against Fury who had threatened to kick Sheppard out of S.H.I.E.L.D. One and out of S.H.I.E.L.D itself. All of that work, she had put in without even giving it a second thought.

All for nothing.

"Keep it in your pants." She said and then rolled her eyes. "That's one thing that isn't escaping from it's confines at all tonight."

"And I would be extremely disappointed if this night were to end in such a fashion...Tiffany." He smiled, and it was a smile that was perhaps the most honest one that she had seen tonight. "One of the things my father taught me, was not to 'hear' the words that are spoken to you, but to 'see' the words and the truth that lays behind them. Because a person says a thing, does not mean that it should be taken as the truth. A face, an expression and the eyes always tell the truth."

"You've been hurt before...and by someone very close to you. People of my race are empathic by nature, and we 'feel' what others feel." He bluntly states, as he takes a small bite of the bread after dipping it in olive oil. "The way you rolled your eyes. The way you said your last statement, shows you have no humor, or desire towards the more base human need for affection or comfort. If I have illicited a painful memory...then I apologize. It was not my intention."

"What I 'can' assure you of is this. I am 'not' some devil may care being, with a flippant comment for everything." He once again looks away, almost as if he is trying to decide if he should continue. When he turns back, his blue eyes are nearly opaque and his face is completely earnest. "What I am is an alien in your world. An alien that has no home, no family and ultimately...no place in your society. I hold within me a power that I must keep in constant check."

"And as you have summized by now, I use a buoyant, flippant attitude about things as my way of keeping that power in check." His wry smile returns, as he downs the rest of his glass, and sweeps it before him in a dramatic gesture. "Forever upbeat, and jovial is the price that must be paid for all that I am." Setting his glass on the table, he stands, steps over to her, and extends his hand. "But what I don't have, is a 'friend' to talk to, someone that can truly understand who and what I am. Would you care to dance with me?"

Suddenly, music begins to come from the very air around them. The sound is vibrant, but soft..it is almost as if a full orchastra is sitting on the balcony with them. The song is a musical rendition of 'Unforgetable' by Nat King Cole. "Please, this is not my version of trying to woo you off your feet, or an attempt to illicit pity from you. It is merely two people enjoying each others company, and with nothing planned for the future, but only for the moment."

Maybe it was the music, maybe it was the champagne. But it was not the words or the actions. That was what she had to keep telling herself. "You're doing an awfully good job of trying to woo, even if you say it's not your intention." Tiffany said. "You're making a girl all flustered, Mr. Free." She said with a smirk. "You're right, I was hurt a while ago. It wasn't particularly nice and it's not something that I enjoyed. His name was Derek Sheppard. He was a former Captain America. It was...well, I mean, it is...complicated." Michaels said, knowing what could be inferred from the last sentence. Whether he took it that was his problem, all things considered.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

"It would have been more difficult to break into Wayne Enterprises." The man said.

"Well, it was easy because you have me. You aren't worried about the security on this place?"

"Nah. Granted, the guy in charge is a cripple, so you never know the tricks he might have up his wheelchair." Grayson Delancey said. He turned and smirked at the woman who was with him. It wasn't his idea of a date, but hey it could turn into that, possibly. Maybe after they were done with work.

"I'm sure that since you're only through the second layer of security and there's six more, that you might want to re-evaluate that statement." The woman said. "We're not being paid by the hour, Delancey, you might want to get a move on." She added.

"Yeah yeah yeah, Wasp your sting comes from more than just one place."

"Suck up."

"As I was growing up, I remember watching your Captain America and his exploits." Jason smiled. "The most noble of warriors on your planet. He and Superman were personages of like minds. Always fighting for their beliefs, fighting for their worlds, and would gladly give their lives to save them."

"It was in the latter years that I noticed a...change, in his demeanor. I can only speculate as to the reasons why, but it must have been something devastating to shake the good Captain's foundations..." He sees the look on her face and realizes the subject is having a profound effect on her.

Jason smiled comfortingly enough, so that it did not appear to be patronizing. "I can understand how you have a discomfort towards having a relationship Tiffany. But dispite your misgivings, and your assumtions towards my intentions. I can assure you that my methods are strictly in the friendship arena."

"Emotional attachments have a way of becoming...well...emotional." He says with a slight smirk. "The stoney looking fellow at the Watchtower with the penchant for wanton destruction and Galactic Domination would give his soul for what I possess. But we...I...cannot live our lives in past, or fear what the future may bring. We must live in the moment, because...."

"--Jesus, a single tear falls from my eye...--" The image of the faces of Fury and Superman appear on a screen that hangs suspended in midair next to them. Superman's face appears slightly embarrassed for intruding on their date in this manner, but Fury's face is quite the opposite, as his single eye gives Tiffany the once over, as if trying to guess why she is wearing what she is wearing. "--I hate ta break up the lovefest going on here, but we got a situation. You two are nearby, so we need you to go have a look see.--"

"--What the Director means...--"
Superman breaks in with an apologetic expression. "--..The Watchetower systems have reported a possible break-in attempt going on at the Chase Complex in Metropolis. The Security Systems there have sent a silent alert to us here that someone is attempting to access a Highly Restricted Area within the complex, and we cannot allow that."

"What's in the Restricted Area..." Tiffany began to ask, but was sharply cut off by Fury.

"--What's in there is of no concern to you at the moment Agent Michaels. The mission is for you and Romeo there, to stop whoever the blazes is attempting to access it, detain them, and bring them in for questioning. Got it? Fury...out!--"

The screen winks from existance, and Jason turns to look at Tiffany with a sour expression on is lips. "He's ...what the word?" he thinks for a moment. "Ah yes....an asshole."

"And next time Mother, I would appreciate a bit of an advanced warning when I am getting a communication through you."

--Ping, ping ping.-- Mother pings in a apologetic tone.

"Yes, he is a bit of an asshole when he wants certain things." Tiffany said. "I guess this means that the night on the town is cut a little short. Not that you could have expected something like this to happen, Mr. Free." She said with a smile and then paused. "Mother, I was wondering..." She said and then trailed off.

--Ping...Ping...--

And then she was back in her previous costume. "I suppose we should go have a look then?" She asked.

Jason gave a oddly smiled look at Tiffany, as her apparel shimmered back to her SHIELD uniform. Never had Mother obeyed a request from another person, much less predicted what the request would be before Tiffany could finish the question.

"Mother must like you..." He stated at Tiffany, and then his form shimmers and his colorful full-body suit covers his body and face, followed by his high-collared greatcloak, that flows around his form like a living thing.

"Not exactly ...stealthy." Tiffany states wryly.

"Stealth and skulking around is not my usual repartee." Cants his head to the side to look at Spectacular with a wisp of a smile. "Though, if it makes you feel better..." His suit's colors suddenly darken to their dimmest hue, while still retaining a hint of their original colors.

Metal disks suddenly appear under his feet, and his form silently lifts from the ground. He commands the disks to enlarge, and he holds his hand out to help Spectacular step up onto the disks behind him, one foot to each side.

"Hold on, they took even me some time to master." Mister Miracle looks over his shoulder to her.

"I'll be fine.." Spectacular states pridefully. "I'm not some wallflower that is new...Woah!!" She suddenly cries out as the disks suddenly 'flutter' as they adjust to her weight. Tiffany wraps her arms around Miracle's chest, and unbeknownst to Tiffany, a satisfying smile crosses his lips.

"That's much better." Jason says with obvious humor in his tone, and then changes the subject quickly. "Well, since I believe that 'some' stealth is necessary for this, the normal Boom Tube would probably be the wrong transportation. Sooooo......"

Instead of the normal booming sound of a Boom Tube, a swirling blue portal opens below them with a quiet but distinct ...HHHUUUUSHHH.... "Down we go..." Miracle states as they lower into the vortex and disappear.

===== CHASE COMPLEX, Metropolis =====

"This is taking entirely too long Grayson." Wasp stated with an obvious hint of aggravation in her voice. "I could have ordered a pizza by now, had it delivered and eaten half of it...."

Grayson paused for a moment and looked over his shoulder. "Listen..gnat. Someone really screwed the pooch on this one. This was suppose to be a easy in, easy out job. No one told me about this strange encryption I'm currently looking at. It's as if the first three levels of security were 'meant to be easy to bypass. Now I'm looking at a security language and system that I've never seen before. It's almost ....alien."

The Wasp sighed in exasperation. "Listen, you said there isn't an encryption that you couldn't break. 'NOW, your saying that you found a code that you 'can't' break. Of all the ..."

---HHHUUUUSHHHH---

Wasp's eyes widen in shock as she looks at Grayson. She stands up, and puts her hands on her hips. "You Son of a Bitch...did you just shush me?!?

"Umm...no." Grayson says with a slight shake of his head. "I'm trying to get through this, but if you would shut the hell up, that would be nice."

Wasp turns around, and standing across the room from them a man in a flowing green cape hovers off the floor on silver disks, as a woman in a familiar S.H.I.E.L.D. combat suit, leaps from behind him. Without turning her head back to look at him, she begins to insistantly tap Grayson on his shoulder.

"God Dammit Wasp! Would you let me work here?! I can't fucking concentrat...." He spins around with a vicious look on his face....a look that suddenly disappears into surprise, as he looks at the new arrivals.

"Hi!" Mister Miracle waves with a smile. "You must be here for the 'Let's Break into Chase Inc. for the Fun of it' party. But I'm afraid that this is a formal affair, and neither of you are wearing a tie. We're going to have to ask you to leave now."

She’d stifled words that told him that she could fly since he’d seemed so very gung ho about getting them there himself. Men and their means of transportation. Derek had been very protective of that too for some reason. Never ever in his life had let her drive his truck. But all that faded when she saw the two people in the room. Well one of the two. One was dressed like an insect, a wasp was what came to mind. She’d heard of this one. A thief and a terrorist, the woman was one a few of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s wanted lists, as well as on Interpol’s and on Vanguard’s. With very similar powers to Janet Van Dyne, the woman fulfilled the title of “Wasp” very well. But the other, the other she knew very well.

“Grayson.” She said.

“Tiffany!” The other man said with a big smile. “Long time no see.”

“Not since you skipped out on Matthew down in the Congo and we had to rescue him.”

“And stole the diamonds and Fury’s precious piece of intel, I know.” He replied with a smirk. “But that’s the past, and this is the present. I don’t want to have to hurt you and your stoplight friend. We both know I can. So why don’t you guys just take a break from the heroics and skip on out of here.” He said. “I’m trying to show a girl a good time.”

“As if.” Wasp said. With a smirk on her face, she lifted her hands and bioelectric energy shot out of her hands at Mister Miracle. More than enough power to blast through concrete, they had been known to take out superhumans in the past. It was time to see just how strong and powerful this Robin wannabe was.

"Here we go..."  Miracle stated suddenly, as just a faction of a second before Wasp raised her hands and began firing her bio-blasts in his direction.

But he was not at the destination of where the blasts were aimed.  His body was already in motion, as he dipped, flipped and curved around the energy bursts on his aerodisks.  Wasp concentrated her bursts into one beam and fired.  Miracle sensed the attack, and with only a split second to spare, he spread his legs apart and the blast passed between his inner thighs.

"Heyyy!"  Jason exclaimed in mock hurt.  "Let's not get personal!"

The Wasp smirked slightly.  "Personal is the name of the game."  Wasp states as she continues firing at on her elusive target.  He moved with a precision that she had seen in few heroes, most notably Batman and Captain America.  It was almost as if he could predict the path of her beams and then move out of the way, twisting and bending his body in ways that did not seem humanly possible.  "Who the hell are you anyway?  It looks like Walt Disney threw up on you with that color scheme."

Miracle was taken aback by the comment for a split second.  "That hurt my fee..."

"Gotcha!"  Wasp stated, as she fired her right hand in front of him, while simultaneously firing her left at the aerodisk on his left foot.

Jason managed to evade the beam in front at the last second, but soon realized his error, since that beam was the distraction.  The bio-energy beam struck his left aerodisk causing it to shatter, and send him in a spinning and wildly erratic spiral downwards.

With only a second to spare before hitting the ground, he leapt from his remaining disk, while at the same moment a silver quarterstaff appeared in his right hand.  Upon hitting the floor, he rolled perfectly with the momentum, and upon catching his feet from the roll, he leapt straight up into the air with a slight arc.

"How do you deal with insects?"  Jason said in mid-flight, as he dodged, and used his staff to deflect more blasts from the Wasp.  "You ...swat...them!"

He landed in a crouch on the floor, ducked and came in under a sweeping right hook that Wasp threw.  With deft precision, he swung his staff around and took Wasp out at the back of the knees, which caused her to literally upend, her legs flying in the air, and land unceremoniously, not to mention painfully, on her ass.

Miracle stood up, his body completely in tune and aware of his surroundings, and positions of all within the room.  With a obvious flare for theatrics, he raised his arm, and made a 'come get me' motion with his upturned hand.

"The name is Miracle, but you can call me Mister Miracle."

Now that had just pissed her off. Wasp rolled up to her feet and let loose a series of blasts, continuing to fire over and over. She started moving towards him with a singular purpose in mind. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Delancey had stopped what he was doing. Made sense, this was the more pressing matter at hand. She ducked then, under neath Mr. Miracle’s attack and slammed both of her hands into his midsection, firing her stingers as she did. He went flying back wards and she turned to see how Grayson was doing with Spectacular.

The two were not evenly matched. She was a powerhouse compared to him, and both combatants knew it. Her strength class level put her in a different league than he, and so he knew that he’d need to be faster if he was going to effectively combat her. So far he was doing the trick, but Grayson knew that he had to switch things up. All he was doing was avoiding her and blocking her as best as he could. Offense was not the name of the game right then and there. So he started to maneuver. He was counting on a few things going in his favor, and so far he had been right every time. Tiffany was a powerhouse, but she was used to brawling.

All that time around Derek Sheppard wasted. Pity.

She didn’t see that he was setting her up for a fall. A big one for that matter. Soon her back was turned to Wasp who waited, biding her time. And then it came.

The other woman hit Tiffany in the back with the two hardest blasts that she could muster. The result, surprising Spectacular, hit her with a large amount of kinetic force. Superhuman durability was one thing, but that didn’t mean that the laws of physics were completely thrown out of the window. Since they weren’t, Tiffany was, crashing through one of the windows of the tower. Then she started her plummet, knocked unconscious by the blasts and the fight.

Grayson sighed and then looked at Mr. Miracle. “Sucks for your date.”

Jason was extracating himself from the small crater in the wall that he had made due to the impact of Wasp's blasts, when he witnessed the Wasp turn her blasts to an unsuspecting Tiffany, and blast her through the window.

"Tiffany!" Jason yelled as he leapt into the air, his aerodisks suddenly appearing under his feet, and he streaked through the air towards the window.

Wasp reoriented back to Jason, quietly impressed that the man was able to recover so quickly from a point blank blast from her stingers, and began firing her stingers at the moving figure. But she was finding it a near impossiblity to hit the moving target, as Jason dipped, dodged and curved at nearly the precise moment that she fired. It was as if he knew where the blasts were going the moment they left her blasters.

Still streaking towards the window, Miracle casually flipped a small flat circular object, no larger than a quarter, over his shoulder, where it bounced, then rolled in a lazy circle around Wasp's feet, then came to a stop and laid flat between her feet. Wasp was concentrating hard on trying to get a bead on the flying man, that she noticed it at nearly the last second.

"What the he...." She managed to get out when suddenly the small coin exploded with a quiet hiss as literally thousands of microfiliment titanium fibers burst from it's small package. The nearly invisible threads shot out and wrapped themselves around Wasp's wrists and legs, and then the coin-like device retracted the threads, binding her wrists and legs together tightly.

Jason managed a small glance over his shoulder, and smirked slightly, and then turned back towards his destination. Grayson was now standing between the window and himself, his blaster training on Jason.

"My, what a quaint little pistol." Jason smiled as he took a kneeling position on the aerodisks and held out his hands like he was holding a weapon in them. "Let me show you all the rage on Apokolips these days..."

--Ping..pingping..Ping!--

Suddenly a large silvery rifle appears in his hands, the barrel of which was easily the radius of a grown man's forearm. Depressing the trigger, the report of the weapon shattered any remaining windows in the room. As the energy beam lanced out towards Grayson, at the same moment a small cube zipped out from Miracle's glove, and streaked out the window where there could be heard a faint hiss of air, and a metallic line fired from it towards Tiffany's falling form. The line entwined itself about her waist, and despite the cube's small size...Tiffany stopped in midair. As the small cube began retracting the line, it sent several minor jolts of electricity through the line, trying to revive her back to consciousness.

What in the hell was going...oh shit the ground was far away....

Tiffany’s eyes widened and she shook her head, trying to clear it. What was going on? The last thing she remembered, she’d been fighting Grayson and someone dressed like the Wasp in the Chase building. Now she was hanging in the air, being pulled up towards, somewhere. Twisting, she saw through wind tousled locks that she was being pulled back up to the Chase building, through a broken window. She’d gone through the window? Anger started to build, but more than that, annoyance. Anger that Wasp had gotten the drop on her, and annoyance that Mister Miracle had rescued her. Obviously this had to be some kind of contraption of his.

“You can stop shocking me.” She said to no one in particular, her voice captured by the wind and transported away. But it worked, because the shocks stopped.

She was pulled back into the building in time to see Grayson get hit by a blast of energy from some weapon of Miracles. Still too dazed and disoriented, she couldn’t stop Grayson as he flew past her from the impact of the hit. But that didn’t seem to bother him. As soon as he was out of the window, he turned, into the wind and from his boots, booster rockets came and then he was gone.

Leaving Wasp with them.

No honor amongst thieves.

Tiffany walked over to where Wasp was, bound and gagged. There was a look of defiance on the other woman’s face that was quickly replaced with a look of unconsciousness when Spectacular punched her. Then she looked over at Miracle. “I would have been fine. But thanks, I guess.”

Jason made a perplexed look on his face, as the powerful blast from the Apokolipian Rifle vaulted Grayson out the window. He then upended the rifle and looked down the barrel. "Hmm, 'that' probably was a bit too much."

"mmphf mph, mmfphr, mmphff!" Wasp mumbled at him through the filment gag. If her eyes were a weapon, he would surely be ash at this point.

--Pingping..ping, ping pingping, pingpingping.--

"Yes Mother, I know perfectly well what she is saying." Jason stated with a sigh. "Yes, Mother, I am quite aware that such language is extremely vulgar...even by human standards."

He then turned to see Tiffany stalk over to the Wasp, rear back her fist. "Oh, thats gonna leave a mark..." Jason grimaced as Tiffany made her point to the Wasp, then turned to Jason. “I would have been fine. But thanks, I guess.”

"I have no doubt that you would have, but I ...uh..." Seems to ponder the right excuse for a moment. "..umm...I knew ...yeah KNEW!" He seemed pleased with himself, as if he had found the right one. "That I would not have been able to survive without your help, and felt that pulling you back would aid me in stopping these nefarious villians, and ..." He caught the 'Your full of shit' look from Tiffany, and suddenly started looking at the cuff of his glove, as if he had never seen it before.

He was sweet, she had to give him that. Shaking her head with a smirk on her face, Spectacular decided it was time to see just how possessive "Mother" was. "C'mere." She said and reached out, pulling him in. A kiss on the cheek, nothing more. A turn of the head, and angled look into his eyes. Then she leaned in for an actual kiss but there was a buzz that interrupted them. She sighed.

"Spectacular, can I get a sit rep?" The voice of Nick Fury said.

"Two interlopers, one got away, one was captured, nothing was taken, they couldn't break through the security." She said, still looking into Miracle's eyes. They were still close to each other. "One was someone new, exhibited Janet Pym powers." She said.

"And the other?"

"Grayson Delancey."

"That bastard." Fury said, with definitive heat in his voice. "Please tell me he's the one you got."

"Negative." She said. "Busy at the moment, but we'll be in touch." She said and then cut the communications channel. "Now, where were we? Right." She leaned in and kissed him, quickly. "We should probably get Wasp and get moving, Miracle."

As the two leaned into their first attempt, Mother made a soft, almost inaudible...--piiiinnnnnnnnggggggg--, which sounded very much like the sound of a mother seeing her son being kissed for the first time.. 'awww'

Then Fury's voice broke into the moment, and Jason cringed as Mother mentally screamed frustration into his mind from the intrusion, and he had to calm her down before she cut off the communication.  Then he looked back, and Tiffany was still looking at him as she gave her report of Fury.  Her soft eyes, unwavering, and unblinking, stared into his, and for the briefest of moments...and for the first time in his long life...there was a connection.

"Now, where were we?"  She asked as she leaned in and kissed him, quickly, on the lips.

The moment lasted but the merest of a second, but for Jason, it lingered for an eternity, and within that moment, the die was cast, the connection sealed within him..the bond made.

While Tiffany picked up Wasp by the filiment bonds around her waist, looking much like she was holding luggage, Jason's face tightened with concern.

'Dangerous territory Jason...' He said to himself.  '..very dangerous.'

Looking up, he saw that Tiffany was looking at him.  "Something wrong Miracle?"

Immediately, Jason's personable smile returned to his lips...but there was something different, something barely perceptible hidden within it, that Tiffany would notice, but could not fathom at this time.

"No, No..."  Jason stated with a dismissive wave of the hand.  "Just the usual after-battle stupor and such."

"Mother will need you to think about where you wish us to go, and then will open a tube to that location."

With a nod, she closed her eyes and concentrated, thinking about one particular place. When she opened her eyes, she found that they were there. A small man made island off the coast of Long Island, this was the headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D. There were people moving out and about. This was a busy section of one of the helicopter sections of the base. Spectacular looked at Miracle. "I can take it from here." She said with a smile. Then she turned, and Jason looked past her as doors opened and Nick Fury came out towards them, with two S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers in tow. Looking back at Miracle, she reached into one of the few pockets she had on her person and pulled out a cell phone. "I think I need your number." She said and tossed him the phone.

"So this is the new Wasp?" Fury asked and looked down at the bound and still unconscious woman. "Not impressed."

"You're never impressed." Spectacular said.

"Good point." He replied and looked at Miracle. "Good work, kid." He said and then looked at the two soldiers, who grabbed the bound Wasp and took her inside.

Jason smirked slightly at Fury calling him 'kid'. But then again, most humans did not know that New Gods were literally immortal, and that their aging process stopped at the general age of 30. But he kept that to himself for the time being.

"Why thank you Director Fury, but I cannot take all the credit." Jason smiled warmly. "Tiff..er...I mean Agent Michaels was crucial to the success of this little mission. I am merely happy that I was able to ...lend a hand in capturing this ...Wasp person, which...by the way...."

"Excuse me gentlemen.."Jason stated as he walked up to the officers that were carrying the Wasp into the building. "Sorry, but those restraints are kinda ...proprietary...if you get my meaning. I'm sure that you have your own restraints, if you would be so kind as to get some to replace mine."

The SHIELD officers gave Jason a emotionless look, then looked over Jason's shoulder to Fury. "Sir?"

"Yeah, yeah...get some Bio-Shackles brought up." Fury grumbled with irritation.

The agent spoke into his mic, and within moments the new restraints were brought up. "Ok sir. If you would please remove your ..device..we'll put these on." The Agent politely requested.

Jason glanced at the Agent's shackles. "May I have a look at those?"

The Agent again looked over Jason's shoulder and looked for Fury's approval, which Fury gave him a nod of approval, and the Agent handed the surprisingly light rig that was basically two solid metal enclosed tubes for placing around a subject's forearms and hands, with a solid titanium rod holding the two tubes apart.

Jason carefully looked at the device, peered into the inner workings and then rolled his eyes in amusement. "Well...at interesting enough device. On second thought, you would be probably be better off just keeping my binders on her."

The Agent seemed to take offense at the slight. 'Pardon me sir, but these shackles are designed by SHIELD, and tested to withstand the strength of a Level 7, and if she was to wake up and try and use her Bio-Blasts while confined in the tubes, she'd blow her hands off inside without making so much of a dent in the shell."

"If you say so..." Jason stated and then looked at something trival on the ground that seems to catch his attention, and then looks back up at the Agent who is staring at him with a slight scowl on his face. "Oh...I'm sorry. I saw an ant...you were saying?" Jason then slipped his hand down one of the tubes, which activated the unit, and the tube enclosed around his forearm with a click. "Oh...now I've done it. Well, might as well do it right." He then slid his other hand into the second tube, which secured his forearm and hand as the first.

The Agent smiled with a smug look on his face. "Well, what do you think of them now...smartass?" He then sighed heavily and turned to Fury. "Sir, we really don't have time for this. We need to get the subject locked down...."

Fury leaned his head to the side slightly, his eye looking over the Agent's shoulder. "Well, I'll be goddamn..."

There was a loud ...'CLANK'...and when the Agent turned around, the shackle device was lying on the ground in front of Jason. "Oops, sorry. I didn't mean to scratch your toy." Jason smiled, and put two twisted paperclips in the palm of the Agent's upturned hand. "Keep my binders, perhaps your people can make use of them."

Walking back towards Fury and Tiffany, Jason whistled a little tune and tried not to look at Tiffany.

Spectacular couldn't help but smile at what Jason had done. She saw the look on Fury's face and that just made it so much better. Any time she could have the veteran spymaster shown up at something, it was a good day. As long as it wasn't anything too serious. Something like this, child's play, it wasn't that big of a deal. "Be nice." She said to Fury.

"I'd have to be nice in the first place." Fury said. He looked at the other man and then shrugged slightly. "Well, you brought her back at a good enough time, so I'm not too upset. Just remember, I'm the guy with the shotgun. You're the punk who thinks he's hot shit."

Tiffany rolled her eyes. "Boys, play...never mind." She added and then started walking into the building.

"You know, you have some ...issues, Mr. Furry." Jason stated with a bemused squint of his eyes.

"Thats..Fury, Creampuff." Fury grumbled back at Jason

"Oh, sorry." Jason replied, with no hint that he meant it. "You know, in all seriousness, I could help you and your little organization out with your security and containment equipment, not to mention the shoddy placement of your sensors that are set around the base here. Frankly, I could walk an elephant through some areas around this base."

"I am offering you my services as a..ah..Security Consultant. My particular skills are design and thwarting security systems. My father was a 'very' good teacher Director Fury."

"Not ta mention the fact that you would also be able to hang around with your new gal pal." Fury retorted.

"Well..." Jason pausing with a knowing grin. "Tiffany is quite a woman, and after our little foray I find that she intrigues me....in a professional sense of course."

"Make sure it stays that way." Fury said. He was always protective of his own, as far as he needed them to be useful to him, but more so to the female agents. But that was the old fashioned guy in him, he supposed. "Either way though, I don't think I can realistically turn you down, Mister Miracle. I'll take all the help that I can get these days. But remember, I will be watching you." Fury said.
