Avengers: This Day

Post by Cazzik »

And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes were united against a common threat! On that day The Avengers were born — to fight foes no single hero could withstand!

World of Heroes Presents....
AVENGERS: THIS DAY

Wakanda, Africa

The sun had begun to set and the African landscape became darker, yet remained as majestic as ever. Sebastian was silent and still as he watched the sun sink lower into the African savanna. On the horizon he could see the capital city of Wakanda, his destination. He had seen it once before when he was very young. His father, Victor, had taught him about all of the great nations of the world, past and present. Wakanda was among them, as of course, was his home country. He remembered that Wakanda was one of few nations that had not permitted a diplomatic visit. His father explained that there had always been bad blood between their nations.

Of course, when he went into more depth about the history it sounded more like bad blood between monarchs and not so much between sovereign states. Wakanda was ruled by a king called the Black Panther who was chief of the Panther Clan, the most powerful of the Wakandan clans. The most famous Black Panther was the man called T'Challa who had not only ruled the African nation with compassion but served the outside world as a member of the late team of Avengers for many years. The Avengers had always been a constant source of frustration to Sebastian's father, and the Black Panther was no small part of that.

In his old age his father had begun to explain to him why his war with the heroes of the world had been so important to him. To the outside world it seemed that Victor was merely a would-be-world conqueror, albeit an incredibly brilliant one. However, that simple definition of who he was simply wasn't correct. He was much more than that. He had not wanted to conquer the world, he wanted to save it from itself. Of all the accomplishments his father made the most important was his ability to travel through time, to witness untold futures. It was this ability that allowed him to view the destruction of the Earth and humanity in every single reality except for one, a future ruled by him, or so he believed at the time.

As he grew older he came to realize that it was not his destiny to save the world. That right would go to his son. And so Sebastian was groomed to take his father's place, not only as a monarch of a great nation but as a world power himself. There wasn't a single person on Earth that didn't know who his father was, and soon they would all know his name as well. In due time of course. He knew that patience was a weapon that few could wield with any sort of skill. Thankfully, he was a master.

He shut his eyes and reached out through mystical means. It only took a few moments for him to find what he was looking for. Vibranium. Wakanda had the largest stockpile of the precious metal found anywhere in the world. Sebastian needed it to further his plans, to assist him in releasing a future ally from imprisonment. Just one more step in the journey to save the planet. As the last remnants of the sun vanished from sight Sebastian turned around. His dark green cape fluttered in the cool breeze but his armor kept the chill at bay. His eyes narrowed beneath his mask as he looked upon the army that stood before him. A fighting force made up primarily of robotic soldiers of varying capabilities. A man in a black uniform approached Sebastian, "Your army is prepped and ready for war, sir."

Sebastian turned his gaze back to the capital city of Wakanda. He could no longer see it, but he knew it was there. The Wakandans would not expect an assault of this magnitude. It would take everything they had to defend themselves and defeat his army. Unfortunately for them, the attack was merely a diversion. Sebastian cared not whether his army succeeded in conquering the African nation. He simply needed to make sure he was undisturbed when he made his way into the Vibranium mound. His gaze never wavered from the direction of his target, "Commence the attack, Commander."

"As you wish, Lord Doom."

Not too long ago, he had killed his brother in one on one combat. The man hadn’t been his own flesh and blood, but that hadn’t made him any less his brother. T’Shon and M’ume had fought, at Bast’s sacred grotto, while the Panther God had looked on, garbed in the visage and clothing of their father, the recently deceased King of Wakanda. T’Shon, the adopted son, had won and had been forced to kill someone that he had held dear. But he had why it had needed to be done. M’ume was repentant then, sorry for his words against his adopted brother and his biological aunt, but that didn’t mean that one day he wouldn’t feel differently and challenge his brother’s now holy right to rule. A necessary evil it had been and one that had troubled T’Shon ever since. The young man had eaten of the Herbs of Bast and had become the Black Panther, King of Wakanda, Protector of the Vibranium.

Then he had returned to the capital to assume his duties and to serve the people, dispute his misgivings that he was not worthy. his aunt had told him that if he hadn’t been worthy, that Base would not have picked him and would have backed M’ume or yet another for the position. He had moved into his father’s old chambers, his father’s old bedroom. Nothing had changed.

But everything had changed.

Now he was running the country, and having to make decisions that affected millions. To say that it was a tough job would be a gross understatement of the fact. T’Shon was handling things as best as he could, which was to say that he felt that he was doing the worst job in the history of Wakanda. There had been many days since he had assumed the roles and responsibilities that T’Shon had yearned for his adopted father to not have died, even if for the selfish reason that these problems would have no longer been his. Heavy is the head that wears the crown was a saying that he had heard often times growing up. T’Shon had never paid too much attention to them, thinking that he would never be the King of Wakanda. Now the phrase was something that came to his mind unbidden throughout his days. Try as he might, he couldn’t push it out. The King of Wakanda looked up from the desk that he was sitting at.

In his office, he was looking over a proposal for the overhaul of a series of roads in one of the provinces of Wakanda. It wasn’t anything too serious, but the province had asked for government help. That meant that it needed to be brought before him. It had caused him a great deal of headache, which was interesting considering it was something that seemed rather trivial. The main issue was that the number of asphalt and road paving companies in that province were not large enough to handle the additional demand. That in turn meant that this need had to be met somehow, which meant turning to companies in other provinces. That made it political and started the headache

Deciding that it was time for a break, T’Shon rose and walked out onto the balcony that was part of his office. He had been there for only a few minutes when he heard footsteps behind him. Turning, the man dressed in a simple business suit watched as an out of breath aide ran up to him.

“Calm yourself.” T’Shon said. “What is it?”

“Wakanda is under attack, Black Panther.” The aide said. “Machines have struck at various points of the capital.” The aide said. “We must strike against them.”

T’Shon nodded in response to the man's words. "I must change. Prepare the defenses of the city. Alert everyone."

This, at least, was something he knew.

Sean Toretto had just finished a job. It was incredible how the work was rolling in ever since he had become the man that he was now. Toretto was a former soldier, who had been a United States Army Ranger. After getting his discharge, he had gone into business for himself, which meant that he had done a lot of private military corporation styled work. Sean had been a bodyguard, a finder, and much, much more. But the biggest and most important job that he had done had been to work with a man who had been a colleague of a man named Peter Ilvento. This scientist had been working with the machine that Peter Ilvento had utilized in order to work on Ionic energy.

In the process of working with the machine, they had needed a test subject. Despite the fact that Toretto had only been there in the capacity as a bodyguard, he had felt that it was worth it to volunteer to be a test subject. Sean figured that if it worked, it definitely improved the odds of what he could do with his life.

But what had happened had been something that he never had expected. He had received incredible powers through the machine. He was more than just a man now and the possibilities of what he could do were endless. His work had expanded dramatically once people had started to hear of everything that he could do. They were calling him the new Wonder Man. After all, every person who had hired him looked at him in wonder at what he was able to pull off. Toretto had proved that he was worth every penny that he charged for his work. A mercenary though, true to his word, he always got the job done.

Now, he was in New York, in Manhattan, looking for a new job, something to do.

Something with a challenge.

As expected, the Wakandans were putting up an admirable defense of the city. Despite the genius behind his robotic soldiers Doom was still well aware of the technology housed in the African nation. The two armies would be evenly matched. He watched as the opposing forces engaged each other on several fronts, ripping into one another with extreme prejudice. He smiled beneath his mask, his plan would work perfectly. This assault was the perfect distraction, especially when it came time to launch phase 2. Unfortunately, that time was not upon him yet. He was waiting for the right moment. He needed the Black Panther to reveal himself. The King of Wakanda was the only opponent in this battle that could truly pose a threat to Doom. The man would have to be dealt with.....or at the very least he would need to be distracted as well. Doom was ready with the perfect soldiers for the task.

Commander Philips approached his king, "Sir, we believe we have located the Black Panther."

Sebastian fought back the arrogance that he had inherited from his father. This was not the time to become cocky, "Send in the Panther Guards, Commander. Make sure the Wakandan King is the first to encounter them."

Philips nodded and turned away to give the order. Moments later fifteen robotic soldiers quickly made their way into the city, seeking out their target. They were incredibly stealthy and agile, much like the Black Panther himself. Doom had studied T'Shon's predecessors, most notably T'Challa, in order to create weapons that could truly stand a chance of killing the Panther. They had been tested and were more than ready to complete their task. The Panther Guards were equipped with an array of weaponry, including particle weaponry and adamantium tipped claws. They looked like metallic versions of a cat-man, an added touch that Doom put in simply to mock his opponent. Unfortunately, T'Shon wouldn't know who his opponent was. All of the soldiers were unmarked. They did not wave the Latverian flag, nor did they speak in any tongue other than electronic signals. Doom's army was very simply anonymous at this point. Once the Panther was distracted Doom could begin his infiltration of the vibranium mound.

An agent entered the office of Brian Grace, the Director of Vanguard. The Super-Soldier looked up and noticed the rather frantic look on the agent's face, "What is it?"

The young man stepped up and handed Grace a folder, "Sir, it appears that an unknown force has invaded Wakanda. Because we don't have any spies within the borders of Wakanda it was nearly impossible to figure out who they were."

Grace stood up while reading the report. Currently there wasn't anything he could do. Unfortunately, Vanguard was restricted to American soil and interests. He could not send in an army without approval from the joint chiefs of staff. Then again, a strike force not affiliated with Vanguard or the United States wouldn't get into any trouble. He frowned and returned his gaze to the other man, "Agent, locate Ben Davis and bring him here immediately."

The Agent let a tiny smile grace his lips, "Sir, you want me to get Captain America?"

Grace nodded, "The one and only, Agent."

The army of the Black Panther were fighting for home and hearth. They would not give in easily, nor would they give in without taking enemy lives. That was how they had been trained and that was how they fought. This battle would be no exception. The forces of Wakanda clashed with the forces of this unknown invader and the troops looked to their leader to guide them. The Black Panther was in the thick of the battle and he knew how important this fight was. It was T’Shon’s first true test as a ruler, as a leader, and as the Black Panther. He refused to fail his people. These invaders would be repulsed and then their home of operations would be found. Justice would be served. The Wakandans had not asked for this fight nor had they done anything to deserve such a reproachful attack. Quarter would not be given.

T’Shon swung his Vibranium battle staff, the force behind his attack destroying the head of an oncoming enemy. His eyes narrowed as he looked out over the field of battle. No foe could stand against the Wakandan Army. It had been proven time and time again. This would be like any other day when Wakanda was threatened. Her soldiers would stand firm.

His eyes widened a little as he saw the fifteen robotic soldiers entering the city. Whoever his enigmatic opponent was, he would mock T’Shon? Mock the Black Panther? Anger coursed through the veins of the Black Panther and he started running, his personal guard following. They too could see what was happening, what was in front of them. Their enemies looked like the Black Panther. T’Shon moved quickly bringing down his battle staff. He watched as this time it was blocked by one of the robots. As he ducked an attack, he could have sworn that he saw the tempered strength and legendary durability of adamantium on the tips of the claws of his foes.

Who was behind this? He needed to know.

Moving as fast as he could, T’Shon came around one of the robots and jabbed, slamming his battle staff into the robot’s back. It created a dent and that was enough for him to work with. He repeated his attack until the dent had become a hole. Then he reached inside and grabbed whatever he could find and wrenched outwards. Sparks flew as the robot dropped to the ground.

“Is this all that these usurpers have?” He asked and there was a cheer from the soldiers around him. “Wakanda will not fall this day!” T’Shon said, his voice rising. “Fight for your homeland!” He said and with a renewed vigor, dove back into the fray.

Ben Davis stepped into the conference room to find Brian Grace waiting for him. The two Super Soldiers glanced at each other for a brief moment before Grace broke the silence, "Good of you to show up on short notice, Davis. We have an issue."

Ben nodded in agreement, "I understand it has something to do with an incursion into Wakanda?"

Director Grace picked up a remote and turned on a large screen on the far side of the room. An image of the Wakandan capital appeared. Buildings were burning and weapons fire could be seen everywhere, "Roughly two hours ago a foreign army began an invasion. As you know, Wakanda is one of the most powerful and technologically advanced countries on the planet. If a hostile force were to gain control over their weaponry or the stockpile of Vibranium it could tip the balance of power among nations. That is something we cannot allow."

Ben, who was dressed in his civilian clothes, walked up alongside Grace and stared up at the screen, "Agreed. I'm ready to join any Vanguard or Shield defensive strike force you have prepared."

Grace turned the screen off, "We don't have one, Cap. Vanguard is not permitted to go in. It could start an international incident."

Ben's eyes narrowed, "Then what are we doing here, Grace?"

The Vanguard Director tossed several dossiers onto the table in front of Ben, "Just because I can't personally fight doesn't mean you can't. You're not a member of the U.S. armed forces anymore. You aren't an agent of Vanguard or Shield. You might piss off a few senators by going in but that's about it."

Ben nodded in agreement as he picked up the first file, "What are these?"

Grace smiled, "You wanted a strike force, Cap. They are the best solo operatives you could hope for. Some you know, others you don't."

Captain America read the names on the dossiers. He nodded as he read Ethan Cross' name. The man had fought alongside Cap only a few weeks earlier. He recognized Alex Burke's name as well, the armored vigilante known to the world as Iron Man. He had heard of Andrew Snyder as well, from the mouth of Director Grace himself. The man called himself Wolverine and he had served as an Avenger alongside Grace during his days as Patriot. The last name was unfamiliar to him; Sean Toretto. However, the file was impressive. The man was a power house. The strike force seemed well rounded on paper, but Cap had seen enough action to know that statistics and dossiers don't always pan out on the field of battle, "I can get to these people as fast as possible, but we'll still need time to reach Wakanda. That's a long flight, Grace."

The other man nodded, "Burke has access to some of the fastest aircraft in the world called Quinjets. They will get you there in a fraction of the time conventional aircraft could. Besides, Wakanda is not completely defenseless. Aside from having one of the most impressive armies in the world they are lead by the Black Panther, a skilled tactician and warrior. Not to mention we had an ally in the area already. She is on the scene now and has been instructed to offer backup to the King."

Davis collected the folders into a pile and picked them up, "Who is this ally?"

Grace smiled, "You've met her."

Katarina Volkov was the world's greatest spy and espionage agent. When it came down to it, there was no one that could infiltrate a foreign nation undetected faster or with more ease. Despite her skills as a covert operative she was still considered extremely dangerous when engaged in combat, a whole other set of skills she planned on utilizing right now. She had been sent to Wakanda by Director Grace to collect intel on the new Black Panther, King T'Shon. Grace wanted to know whether or not this new King could be counted as an ally or not. It had been sheer luck that she had been nearby when the assault happened. She had changed into her typical black battle attire and engaged several soldiers, robotic and human alike, on her way to locate T'Shon.

She had taken up residence in a tree not far from the royal palace. Her sniper rifle out, she waited to fire on any targets. She didn't want to give away her position to early. Finally, she located the King. At the head of a military force the Black Panther engaged the enemies of his nation with ferocious skill. He laid waste to several enemies. She smiled, perhaps her sniper skills would not be needed. As far as she could tell, T'Shon was every bit the Black Panther his predecessors had been. Just as she was about to lower her weapon she saw the Panther-esque attack bots descend on the King. He fought well, but these machines had clearly been specially designed to fight the Panther. He tore through one of them and turned to inspire his troops. As he dove back into the battle one of the enemy drones launched itself at the King's back. With extreme accuracy that could only be beaten by someone like Ethan Cross she fired the rifle. The bullet ripped through the head of the attacking robot and the metallic body hit the ground. She saw the King turn to examine his fallen enemy. No doubt the Panther would realize he had an ally in the form of a sniper. Hopefully he would not take too much offense when he realized that ally was an outsider who had infiltrated his country. She took out several more of the enemy robots before abandoning her weapon and jumping to the ground below. She quickly began making her way through the horde of Wakandan and robotic soldiers to the side of the King.

T’Shon’s eyes narrowed behind the mask of the Panther. A sniper?

Turning, his mind started doing rapid calculations and based off of the trajectory, he saw where the shot had to have come from. A tree in the distance. His eyesight, amplified by the gifts of Bast, allowed him to see things in ways that others couldn’t. One of the many things that he was able to do now as the Black Panther. It was something that the new King was still adjusting to. A part of him hoped that he never would. That he would always be in a state of wonder at what he was able to do and what the Panther Deity had given to him to help lead his people. As he looked further down, he could see a woman that appeared different than both the Wakandan army and the robots that they were fighting. For starters, the majority of the Wakandan army was black and this woman was white. Next, she decidedly did not appear like a robot. Her uniform was definitely different than that of the soldiers of the Wakandan army. Her fighting style was different as well.

But he couldn’t spare her any more time, there was still danger all aorund. These robots were devilish in their pursuit of him. Spinning around, he brought the staff into the body of another one of the robots and then continued to fight them.

That then, had to be the woman who had shot the robot that had been coming after him. No Wakandan soldier would have done that. While they would have wanted to make sure that their King was safe, they knew the rules of Wakanda and that the King had to maintain his honor and maintain his place. They knew that their King had to be able to stand on his own two feet. T’Shon wasn’t necessarily ungrateful for the save, it was more personal embarrassment than anything else. Turning around once more, he found himself face to face with the woman. Attractive. Well endowed. Appearance of a formidable fighter as well.

“And you are?” The Black Panther asked.

NOTE: Some mature language follows.

Capital City of Wakanda

She had pulled her twin Beretta M9 pistols from their holsters, which were strapped to each of her thighs. She leveled the weapons at another enemy and fired. The bullets ripped through the face plate and the automated soldier hit the ground. Without turning to look at her new companion she answered him, "My name is Katarina and I was sent here to ascertain whether you would be an ally to the free nations of the world like your predecessor, T'Challa, or if you were someone we needed to be concerned about."

She moved with lightning reflexes as she dodged another attack. Employing her weapons again she took down two more enemies, "I'm not sure who's attacking your kingdom, but I offer my assistance in defending your home."

She was banking on the fact that T'Shon was a smart man. If he was he would recognize that he could use her talents during the battle. Not to mention that she could use his backup as well, seeing as how she was completely cut off from Vanguard or SHIELD. The Black Widow was good, but taking on an entire hostile army by herself was not something she was in a hurry to try.

Midtown Manhattan
New York City, New York

The crowd around Sean Toretto dispersed quickly as a helicopter entered the area. It flew low, just above the street. Sean was the only one not to back away, though he did seem interested in the people aboard. A cable was thrown out and a man appeared in the entrance. For a second he looked down before grabbing the cable and quickly descending to the ground in a military fashion. He landed directly in front of the other man. The crowd stared in awe at the spectacle.

The new arrival was tall, just slightly more so than Sean himself. His height, however, was not what drew the attention of everyone in the vicinity. The red, white, and blue uniform and the legendary shield slung across his back is what was of interest. He had a stern yet kind look on his face as he extended his hand to shake Sean's, "Mr. Toretto, I'm Captain America. We need to talk."

The Wild Side Bar
Brooklyn
New York City, New York

Ethan stood outside the Wild Side Bar in Brookyln. His face shown a grim look as he stared at the entrance. After receiving the call from Davis he had immediately gone after the next individual in the pile of dossiers, a man named Andrew Snyder. The guy's file was classified apparently. He did a lot of wet work for a lot of very powerful organizations. On top of all of that he had at one point been a member of the Avengers. Cross should have been thrilled to meet this guy. Unfortunately, he had also been told about the man's less than friendly demeanor. The guy was an animal.

Hawkeye took a deep breath and stepped into the bar. Even in the dim light you could still see that he was in full combat gear, quiver attached to his back and his bow collapsed down to a portable size and latched to his belt. The black and red uniform was reminiscent of military combat gear, though much more sleek. He took off his sun glasses and looked around. There were only a few patrons in the establishment and it didn't take long to spot the one he was searching for. He approached the man and sat down on the bar stool next to him, "Wolverine, right? Listen, I'm Hawkeye. I was sent to pick you up. We have a situation."

Wolverine set his beer down and quickly reached out with his right hand. Three claws shot forth from his hand making a snikt sound as they did. They easily cut through the legs of the bar stool. Hawkeye tumbled to the floor and landed on his ass as Wolverine picked up his beer again, "Fuck off, bub."

As he climbed to his feet and brushed himself off Ethan mumbled under his breath, "I knew I should have gone to get Iron Man instead."

OOC:
Foxx and Cadden, obviously I took some liberties with your characters. I hope that was okay. Feel free to continue the conversations.

T'Shon was a proud man. He was proud of his people and their accomplishments, proud of Wakanda and it's history. But that pride did not lead him to disregard assistance. The woman was willing to help and he needed help from all sides if he was going to make sure that he properly repulsed these invaders and brought them to justice. Turning someone away was not something that he could do at this point in time. Though the numbers that the enemy had brought meant nothing against the might of the Wakandan Army, he didn't know who his foe was and more importantly he didn't know what his foe was planning. For all he knew, this was just a taste of what was to come. In that vein, he couldn't, in good conscience, turn away a possible ally.

However, T'Shon was definitely interested in talking to this woman about how she had gotten into his country. Also, the fact that she was in his country and then this attack had happened was another thing to consider. For all he knew, this was a plan to get him to trust someone that he really didn't need to trust, someone who was going to betray him. But as it stood that was a conversation that was going to happen later. He had far more important things to attend to.

"Your assistance would be most beneficial, Katarina." T'Shon said. "We do need to have words after this. Particularly concerning what you felt gave you the right to spy on myself and my country." He added. "But for now, let's concentrate on the task at hand." He said, turning and continuing the fight.

"I think we both know that's not the case. We have a situation in Wakanda."

"That's in Africa, right?" Sean asked with a smirk as the helicopter lowered to the ground.

"Right." Captain America replied, showing displeasure at the lack of seriousness concerning the situation that they were in. "Vanguard has been watching you for some time. You take jobs that require powers and you've demonstrated that you have powers. We need your help." He said.

"Then you know I don't come cheap. But I'll hear you out for now. Got to have more information before I make up my mind. Where are we going?" He asked as they got onboard the helicopter.

Wolverine finished his beer before he said anything more. It didn't take more than a few seconds. "Listen, bub," he said, "whatever problems you and your boy scouts got, they ain't mine. Your... 'situation'... means shit to me. You wanna play hero? Then go and run along, boy. Leave me out of it." He nodded to the bartender for another beer. "Go tell whoever sent you that I ain't interested."

"Grace sent me," Hawkeye simply said. Wolverine didn't respond. "Brian Grace? Patriot? Tall, dark hair, blue eyes?"

"Yeah, I know him," Wolverine said, taking his beer from the man. "Doesn't change a thing."

"We have reports that Dr. Doom has launched an assault on Wakanda. Despite your rather... interesting... attitude, I'm here to recruit you to help stop him."

"You don't say." He remained disinterested.

"You're mistaken if you believe you have a say in the matter," Hawkeye pressed. "Grace wants you on the team. This is top brass shit. CIA and all that. When Vanguard recruits you, they're not giving you the option to decline. Besides, I'd say it's definitely better than being a washed up nobody who's only solice is found in the bottom of a beer bottle."

Wolverine's claws popped again, and this time they wound up but a couple inches from Hawkeye's neck. Now he understood why Brian wanted him on the team, though he didn't quite get what made him such a popular individual among those he's worked with. It likely stopped at his skill, as he doesn't have much of a personality. "Aww, did I strike a chord?" he said with a smirk, though it wasn't of complete confidence. He was confident enough to know that Wolverine would not kill him. "Anyone ever tell you how your eyes sparkle when you're angry?"

Wolverine couldn't decide if he liked Hawkeye, or hated his guts. Maybe a bit of both. He looked at him for a moment, before finally retracting his claws. "My answer's still no," he said. "Find someone else."

"See, I can't do that," Hawkeye said, seating himself on the stool opposite the one that was destroyed moments earlier. "We need your skills, though Lord knows what they see in you. And I'm not going to stop bothering you until you agree."

Wolverine stared at the beer a moment, contemplating on the new proposal. "Well... Hawkeye... looks like you have me at a loss." He took a swig of the beer. "Fine. I'm in. Now go away."

OOC: Mir and I talked and we will be spear heading this thread, the Avengers, and SHIELD together from now on to make sure everything continues to move forward. We have also revised the plot and come up with something better than before. For the sake of getting everything going I'm going to bump things ahead a bit.

IC:
"Why is he always late?" Briance Grace, Director of Vanguard, mumbled to himself as everyone stood around the warehouse. It was an interesting group of individuals. Ethan Cross, the archer now calling himself Hawkeye, was once a Vanguard agent. Grace didn't know him well but was very aware of his particular skill set. It was definitely on his to do list to get Cross to sign on with Vanguard again. Sean Toretto sat alone on a crate looking annoyed at the lack of information that was being passed among the group. He was an ex-Army Ranger that now offered his skills to anyone who could pay. More mercenary than soldier. However his ionic energy powers made him a powerful being and a potential weapon that Vanguard could utilize against the enemies of the United States if Grace could convince this new Wonder Man to become a government agent.

Looking grumpy as always was Andrew Snyder. He and Grace had been teammates before, when Brian went by the name Patriot and held membership in the late team of Avengers alongside Wolverine. The mutant was the best at what he did. He was one of the world's top tier fighters and his claws and healing factor made his already impressive combat abilities even more dangerous. He was a warrior.

Standing next to Wolverine was Captain America, one of the only other individuals on the planet with the combat skills to hold his own against the mutant. His legendary shield was strapped to his back and the red, white, and blue combat gear was worn with pride. He was a fierce combatant and a brilliant tactician. Ben Davis was a natural born leader. Grace looked around the group one at a time. The archer, the mercenary, the warrior, and the soldier. He looked down at his watch. They were only missing the knight.

As if on cue the sound of repulsors could be heard outside the warehouse. The doors were pushed open and the sound of heavy metal echoed through the large building. Grace frowned as the image of Iron Man became visible. The red and gold armor shined brilliantly as it came out of the sunshine. Iron Man's face plate slid up and revealed the man underneath; billionaire Alex Burke. He scanned the room and looked to Grace last, "Sorry I'm late, Honey. Was running errands. Groceries, dry cleaning, securing world peace. You know, the usual."

Grace frowned and refrained from rolling his eyes, "Now that were all here we can get this show on the road. Here is what we know. An unknown military force has launched an all out attack on the capital of Wakanda. For those of you who don't know, Wakanda is an African nation ruled by a king called the Black Panther. It also happens to sit on the largest stockpile of Vibranium anywhere in the world."

Everyone was quite and listening. Even Burke was paying attention, "We aren't thrilled that Wakanda has so much Vibranium as a resource, but at least we know they don't currently pose a threat to the United States. Unfortunately, we don't know that to be fact about their enemy. We need to get in there and assist Wakanda with the defense of their country."

Cross raised his hand, almost like a school boy, "So.....why aren't we sending in the military or a major Vanguard attack force?"

"Because that could start a war. Director Grace wants to send us in because though we may live in the good ole US of A we aren't actual representatives of America nor do we serve in any branch of the government's military. Meaning, if we get caught our nation stays safe. Theoretically speaking." Grace stared at Burke as the other man finished his explanation. Alex was intelligent. Extremely so. Sometimes his behavior and sarcastic wit made you forget that fact. But if you did there was always something to remind you shortly thereafter.

"Iron Man said it. We need to make sure the Vibranium stays safe but we also need to make sure it doesn't look like the USA is invading a foreign country. You are the best hope we have right now. So.....who's in?"

'What the hell I'm I doing here?!?' Brady thought to himself as he literally was hanging in the farthest corner of the room, held there by his waldoes. His crimson mask was retracted upwards on his face, and allowed only his nose and mouth to be revealed

Here he was, sitting in a room..well..hanging in a room with the most eclectic group of people he had ever seen. Looking at Ethan, he could only surmise that this man was the 'new' Hawkeye. Then there was the solidly built fellow whom he overheard during the conversations having something to do with Ionic energies, which means he would be Wonder Man.

His mouth still went dry everytime he looked the two men standing next to each other. Wild hair, stocky build, and a most definate permenently pissed off demeanor...Wolverine. He had not seen the man pop his claws yet, but then again....he didn't think he wanted to be that close if he did.

But the man standing next to Wolverine. Red, White and Blue armor laced uniform, and that shield on his back....'Captain...fucking...America. Holy Star Spangled shit Batman!!' Every time he looked at the American icon, he was thankful that his mask covered his eyes that stared at him in awe.

This was a superhero fan's wet dream, and Brady grew up reading the stories, comic books and movies of all of them. Growing up as a kid, he painted the trash can lids like Cap's shield and terrorized the neighborhood in his blue pajamas tucked into red spray painted cowboy boots, helping old ladies across the street, carrying grocerys into their houses. Or the time he taped butter knives between his fingers and was cutting dull grooves in the backyard fence...until one popped off and nearly took his eye out.

The others in the room he didn't have a clue as to who they were, except for the hotty, whom he assumed was the Brazilian woman that Burke had mentioned when he pulled him from the ocean. It was after that, that Burke had told him to be here at this time. He didn't say why, only to be here.

It was then that Burke entered in his Iron Man armor and then he heard the conversation about Vibranium and some place called Wik..Wikiticky...Wakalaka...well, some place that sounded like it was named after Fozzy the Bear. Once again, he found himself right back to where he started his thoughts....

'What the fuck am I doing here?'

Burke started going around the room, asking everyone who was 'in'. Brady bided his time and waited.

OOC: Sorry about that. I showed Ninzi a rough draft of a post. I think he mistook it for something else. :D

IC:

"We're going to be paid, yeah?" Sean asked and after a slow, kind of reluctant head nod from Grace, then he himself nodded and smiled. "I'll take the job, if I'm getting paid. That's the only thing I care about. I'll do whatever you guys need to me do, make sure the money is good and we won't have any issues."

"I think this is a bit more serious than just calling it a job." Natalia Pera said.

He turned and looked at her. She was pretty. Any other time and he might have considered asking her out for lunch or something. But this was business and Sean had learned long ago to never mix business with pleasure. Contract negotiations were just that, negotiations, and you couldn't take your eye off the bottom line, even if she did have one of the shapeliest bodies he'd ever seen in his life.

"Lady, speak for yourself. You run a multi billion dollar company, and you get a paycheck. This is no different, just involves people's lives, that's all." He said and she rolled her eyes at his response. They both knew that he had a valid point no matter what she wanted to say or admit about the situation. She didn't do her work for free, no matter what happened, so why should he be any different? No reason for him to do that at all.

"It involves all of our lives." Captain America said, cutting in. It was obvious that he was looking to head off any kind of argument that might have been brewing in the room and keep the focus on the task at hand. That was his job after all. Getting the mission done. "This has the potential to endanger a lot of people, and the repercussions would be disastrous. Vibranium is a powerful item."

"Which I understand. So it's good that you guys called in someone like me, I can get the job done for you." Sean said with a small smile as he turned back to the walking Recruitment Poster. "But like I said, it's the money that's the issue. As long as I'm being paid, I'll help."

"He's worse than you." Natalia said, looking at Iron Man. "I didn't think it was possible."

OOC: I'm not a hundred percent sure if this is supposed to be happening before or after current events in the Iron and Blood thread, so yeah.

IC:

"Alright, so long story short is that you're in, granted that you're paid." Grace said and Toretto nodded after a moment. "The money will be there, don't worry about that." He said and then looked at Snyder. They had a past, a storied one at that. He knew where the other man stood on a number of issues, but he wasn't sure if the Wolverine would be behind them on this endeavor. Then he saw the look on the other man's face and nodded slowly. "So you're in too. That's everyone then." He didn't ask the "new" Spider-Man because Burke had brought him here and vouched for him. While he wasn't too thrilled about the fact that the Iron Spider armor had been worked on and was now out and about without his prior knowledge, it was something that he was going to have to live with. Maybe Fury had a point with all the contingency plans that he was always coming up with. That was something to think about.

"When do we leave?" Toretto asked and Brian smiled.

"Glad you brought it up. We're leaving now." He said and doors to the warehouse were pulled back, revealing a pair of Quinjets. "We'll have you in Wakanda as soon as possible, and trust me, these things are fast."

"I'm faster." Iron Man said.

"Where's your proof?" Wolverine asked.

"The women he's dated." Natalia said with a smile as she walked past Burke, who made a mock face of sadness at her remark.

Wakanda

They had routed most of the attackers, in a hard fought battle that had claimed the lives of many of Wakanda's best fighters. This had only served to anger T'Shon more than anything, as his role as the Black Panther involved his dedication to preserving the lives of his countrymen. Whoever had done this, they would pay, and in spades. T'Shon was surveying the damage that had been dealt, on the battlefield. He looked over at the woman who had been fighting alongside him. A day when Panthers and Spiders walked hand in hand. "Katarina, I want whatever information you have on all of this. I know you know something. Maybe you don't, but the people you work for, they will. I want that information."

She nodded, but whether that was agreeing with his assessment or acknowledging that she would give him the information, he couldn't tell.

T'Shon was about to continue, when a soldier ran up to him. "Black Panther, there is a disturbance at the Vibranium mound."

Stark Industries' Quinjet
Somewhere Over the Atlantic Ocean

It was truly an eclectic group of individuals aboard the aerial transport. Captain America surveyed his surroundings. Iron Man was piloting the jet and Hawkeye was riding shotgun as the co-pilot. Davis could only assume the archer had learned to operate such vehicles during his time with Vanguard. Cap, himself, was standing behind the cockpit, holding on to one of the brace bars. His shield was slung across his back. His eyes glanced towards the remainder of the passengers, all of which were seated on the two military style benches the faced each other. He wasn't sure what to make of Spider-Man. His new teammate sat closest to him, quizzically looking around like a curious child. Next to him sat the mercenary Wonder Man. Despite this man's penchant for money he was basically a soldier and Cap was fairly certain he could count on him to do his part. On the other bench, at the far end of the craft, sat Wolverine. Cap didn't know him personally but had learned through the files on him that he had a code. Despite his berserker tendencies he was a warrior of honor, a soldier not unlike Captain America himself.

The Super Soldier finally broke the silence. "Listen. When we touch down we need to have a plan. Rushing in half cocked is not going to help anyone," He looked directly at Snyder. "Wolverine, you're the stealthiest member of the team. You'll need to scout ahead and......"

"Now who put you in charge of this merry little band, Uncle Sam?" Iron Man's head had turned from the cockpit and was now staring back at everyone else. "Buddy, you run around in a spangly leotard with a frisbee and you think we're all going to listen to you?"

"And who should we listen to, Burke? You? Tell us again how many wars you've fought?" Hawkeye's retort came before Captain America had voiced a response.

"Listen, Robin Hood, when I need to know the best way to take down the Sheriff of Nottingham I'll ask for your opinion. Until then, you should leave the big boy talk to the adults." Iron Man turned back away from Hawkeye as Spider-Man spoke up.

"The Iron Man armor is an extraordinary feat of engineering. It essentially turns Burke into a flying nigh-invulnerable tank. The point I'm making is, he hasn't had to fight many wars because he can stop them right off the bat."

Iron Man looked around, "Just so we're all clear, if I'm the smartest guy in the room, which I am, clearly Webs is a close second. So....that puts the two smart votes in favor of yours truly."

"I aint following you, Burke," Wolverine's gruff tone was heard from the back of the Quinjet. He didn't look up but continued to speak, "Maybe you've forgotten the incident with Mainframe?"

"That was an unfortunate miscalculation. Could have happened to anyone," Iron Man retorted.

"What about Darksyde?" Wolverine responded.

"Technically that was kind of a mutant problem. An argument could be made that you should have handled that better." Burke's wit was about him, as normal.

Wolverine turned his head and looked at Iron Man, "And what about your little adventure in L.A.? With that little blonde? Not the most sound judgment, Burke."

Iron Man raised his hand in protest, "Well.........okay. The hairball may have a point."

Wolverine snorted at the acknowledgement. Burke was brilliant, but he wasn't a leader. "Cap's leading this shin dig. Anyone has a problem with that, they can answer to me."

Captain America nodded at the mutant before turning back to everyone, "Okay. Now, listen up."

Wakanda
The Vibranium Mound

The Wakandan soldiers entered the mound first, followed by their King and his new female ally. The soldiers were quickly dispatched by a group of robotic killers and a new individual. It appeared to be a man in a suit of high tech armor and a dark green cloak. The man, hovering above the rest in the mound, looked down on the two remaining enemies, "King T'Shon. The mighty Black Panther. Clearly I underestimated your ability to survive."

T'Shon glared up at the other man, Katarina stood next to him, guns out and ready. The King took a combat stance, "You have invaded my nation, killed my countrymen, and are now attempting to steal our most precious resource. Tell me your name so I may know what to write on your tombstone."

The armored man shut off his thrusters and dropped to the ground. "You may call me Doom."

OOC:
Mir, I am RPing this taking place after Iron and Blood. Feel free to RP the fight between Doom and Panther/Widow. Doom is fairly similar to his comic book counterpart, except that he doesn't refer to himself in the third person. He has an array of tech and weaponry...similar to Iron Man. He is also a master of the mystical arts.

Brady listened to Cap, his mouth slightly hanging ajar due to the fact that he was this close to the man, and was even in this particular group of battle-tested, world saving, and group of pure badassery.

When he spoke up about Burke and the Iron Man armor, he immediately regretted his words, and grimaced at how much of a suck-up and douche that he must have sounded like. It was almost too much to process in his mind. First Spiderman shows up in his lab, he is then attacked by some unknown group led by some guy with severe trust issues, then his best friend in the world kidnaps him to some underwater base, tries to kill him, he's rescued by Iron Man and 'now' he is sitting in a Quinjet with perhaps one of the most elite groups of individuals in history.

Not to mention his body is going through some weird transformation. His once poor eyesight is now perfect, his body is completely healed from the battering it took from the jaunt through the escape pod tube..in fact, he has never felt more healthy in his entire life. Looking at the HUD within his mask, his self diagnostic system was completing it's third scan, and he still couldn't believe the results. Heart Rate...perfect, his BMI was near optimum for his small, lean size. He couldn't help but keep thinking that somehow the radioactive fluids from his attacker and that from Spiderman's cryo-unit had done something to him. But with the whirlwind of events that he has been going through, he just had not had the time to delve deeper into it.

"Relax son." Came the voice of Captain America, who smiled at him. "I remember the first time that I went into battle. Scared half to death, and worried about doing my part."

Brady looked around with his large orb-like eyes, as if making sure that 'the' Captain America was talking to him, and then leaned towards him speaking in a quiet voice. "Uh...actually Mr. America, I don't have the slightest clue why I'm even here. Sure, I have been developing this suit for years. I've tested it...in a 'controlled' environment and I'm pretty proficent in it's use. But I'm just a lab rat."

"Well, Burke may be a bit brash and arrogant, but he is a genius...." Cap started to respond.

"I heard that, recorded it, and putting it in my audio files so I can remind you, you said it." Burke interupted.

"...anyway." Cap shook his head slightly. "He must see something in you. Time will tell."

"I mean, yeah...Vibranium is some 'wow' type stuff. Discovered in like 1915 in the Antartic, which most people call Anti-Metal which destroys all types of metal, and is a completely different type of Vibranium that is found in Waky Land. Capable of absorbing sound and kinetic energy. Matter of fact, your shield is made from a 'accidental' mixture of Vibranium and Iron by Dr. Myron McClain..which no one has been able to duplicate. But, subsequent experiments did finally yield a bonus...Adamantium, in about the 1960's."

Brady looked over to Wolverine. "By the way Mr. Wolverine..." Pointing up and down at his body, as if to indicate what lies inside of him. "How they got that stuff in your body....ouch."

Before Wolverine can respond, Brady continues on with his dissertation on the properties and benefits of Vibranium for several minutes before he finally realises that everyone is looking at him with mixtures of smiles, mainly from Cap and Burke, and annoyance from all the rest. Brady clamps his mouth shut in embarassment.

"See, I told you he was a smart guy." Burke states with a smirk.

"Yer Kid may be a egghead Burke." Wolverine grumbles. "But if he gets in my way, I'll be having three words with him." To make his point, he raises his fist towards Spiderman, and his three claws pop out from between his knuckles one at a time. "Ya feel me Webhead?"

"'Point' taken." Brady swallows hard at seeing the Adamantium claws in person. "I bet those make some 'great' Shish-Kabobs."

Wolverine sneered. "You wanna find out, kid?" he said, bringing the claws up before his face. "'Cause I'm always up for offering demonstrations...."

"Wolverine, enough," he heard Captain America say. "We cannot be divided as a team, especially not now."

"Stow it, boy scout," Wolverine said. "Don't mistake me voting for you as our fearless leader an indication that I like you. You ain't proven nothin' to me. But I seen Burke lead."

He averted his attention back to Spidey. "Now... about that demonstration...." From his other hand three more claws slid out, slowly, threateningly.

OOC: Meh, all I got. I'm not seeing this go anywhere in particular... but the reaction to Spider-Man's comment can't go ignored! :P

"Listen Gulo-lucus-assholius...that's 'Wolverine Asshole' for the uneducated." Brady suddenly retorted as he stared down at Wolverine with his glossy orbed eyes. "I was just making a point about the situation, and made a crack about your toothpicks. Jesus dude, it was a joke...grow a Adamantium laced funny bone."

'Are you fucking nuts Quinn?' He thought to himself. 'Did you 'really' just called The Wolverine, a man with claws that can cut through anything, not to mention the demeanor of a rabid squirrel on meth...an asshole?'

Brady had always been a smartass, ever since his high school days when the jocks would pick on him due to his skinny body and nerdy mentality. Usually those run ins ended with a thumping by the jocks, but this situation was a whole different universe. He wasn't looking a drubbing by a bunch of football jocks, he was staring down at a man that can eviscerate him...and the mentality that he would do it, and then go read a Good Housekeeping magazine looking for a good Chicken recipe, as if nothing had happened. Even his suit was not capable of withstanding the damage that those claws could do to him.

But there was something different about him since the accident. He felt like a different person. A bold sense of confidence that he had never had before, and that he could almost take on the world.

TINGLING...... This time the tingling in the back of his head felt like someone had just smashed him in the back of the head with a sledgehammer.

Wolverine slashed at him with a speed that belayed his bulky stature, and a fericiousity that would have taken even a well seasoned soldier by complete surprise. But Spiderman's body was already moving before Wolverine's right gleaming clawed fist began to come forward. Standing in place, Spiderman's body seemed to bend backwards at an impossible angle, and Wolverine's claws whistled over Spiderman's bent backwards torso by the merest of centimenters.

"Woah!!" Brady cried out in surprise. But his tingling sensation was already ramping him up again, as Wolverine was following up his miss with an equally deadly left slash towards Spiderman's knees. Once again Brady's body moved almost with a mind of it's own, almost with little to no actual thought or concicous impulse by himself. To Brady, it was as if the tingling sensation controled his reflexes, which in turn made the Iron Spider Armor's own Defensive Agility Programs double his reaction to the danger.

But 'react', is exactly what his body did. In his contorted backwards position, Spiderman put his hands on the flooring of the Quinjet, flicking his feet up, and again, Wolverine's claws slashed through nothing but air, but Spiderman's right booted foot caught Wolverine directly under his chin, intoning a low 'claaang', as his armored boot met Adamantium chin.

Wolverine was momentarily stunned, and it would seem as though he would have backed down from such a blow. He stumbled against the opposite wall of the Quinjet and rubbed his chin, clearly taken aback by Brady's strength. However, he was quick to recover from the blow. Quicker than Brady had assessed. He had managed to wound Wolverine, but he wasn't sure if it stopped at his pride.

Either way, he realized that he probably shouldn't have done that.

Oh, shit.... he thought, as Wolverine regained his senses.

With a glint of rage in his eyes, Wolverine let out a violent yell and brought his claws forward once more. Brady was quick to dodge a couple more cheap shots, and as he came about with another counter-attack, Wolverine grappled his arm and used the momentum to pull him against the opposite bulkhead. He moved quick and brought his fist forward, claws out, as they punctured the wall behind him.

The middle claw had been retracted, however. Slowly, it pierced the skin and crept up to mere centimeters from his neck. In doing so, Wolverine was noticeably calmer. "So, you want a joke?" he said, looking Spider-Man square in the eyes. Or, rather, in his visors. "Here's one that'll tickle you pink. A punk kid figured he'd pick a fight with the wrong guy. He lost. Bet yer dyin' to hear the punchline...."

"Andrew, give it a rest," an unusual voice of reason sounded. Wolverine looked at Burke. "You're not going to prove anything by beating a kid in close-quarters combat."

Wolverine snorted a response, then retracted his claws. "Stark technology," he noted at Spider-Man's armor. "You can't seriously tell me that's all you could do with it, Burke...." Without a second thought, he took his seat. "Kid's got spunk... but lacks training and finesse." He looked back at Brady. "And for a smart kid... he isn't very bright, either...."

While the orbs of his mask did not show it, Brady's eyes were shut...tightly, when Wolverine had him pinned to the wall, his neck walled in by his notorious claws. 'Well...on the bright side, I'm getting killed by Wolverine. That is something that was definitely 'not' on my Bucket List.' Brady thought as he awaited oblivion.

When death didn't come, he cracked open an eyelid, and saw Andrew sitting back in his seat, and making remarks about his intelligence. Rubbing his throat, he looked around the room. Cap merely looked at him with a slight smile and a small nod, as if the brief little donnybrook showed him something about this Spiderman that he did not know before. Whether it was his ability to dodge someone like Wolverine, or that he was foolish enough to stand toe to toe with Wolverine, Brady wasn't sure.

Slowly, he walked over to the cockpit area, unaware that even though the Quinjet's stablizers were compensating for it, the jet was hitting some minor turbulence that caused the craft to buffet and rock, he walked without a stumble or pause to keep his balance. Kneeling down at the entrance to the cockpit, he leaned in towards Burke.

"Look Mr. Burke..." he said quietly. "..I'm sorry about that back there. I really don't know what I'm doing here sir. The last week has been a real trip. I mean, I've gone from just being the research lab rat and minding my business and working on my suit, to getting kidnapped, betrayed and blown up..to..sitting on a Quinjet with a group of ..well...heroes. One of which I damn near sliced me, dice me and make Julian fries out of me."

"Oh, don't take that personally." Burke smiled. "Actually, I think he likes you. Not too many people can take Andrew by surprise like that."

"That brings me to my next thing...I'm..well, I'm going through some..uh..changes."

"Listen Kid, I like you and all, but don't you have a Dad to talk to about going through puberty?" Burke stated in his usual humorous deadpan.

"And I thought 'I' was a smartass." Brady whispered under his breath.

"Come again?"

Brady cleared his throat suddenly. "Um, nothing. I'm not talking about that sir. Something happened in the lab on the night of the attack, and my body is ..reacti...." Brady was suddenly cut off as several indicators began churping for attention on the cockpit panels.

"Listen, we can discuss the birds and the bees later." Burke cut Brady off. "Right now, we're about to enter Wakandan Air Space."

Doom.

An intriguing name. No doubt formulated due to some kind of hubris and obviously as an homage to the man that he dressed similarly to, Victor von Doom, the late Dr. Doom, of Latveria. He’d perished years ago, and now, T’Shon was going to send this man to join his idol. All fell before the light of Bast, and he was the Panther God’s champion. Without a thought to safety, for why would he have one, he sprang into action. Vibranium tipped claws moved through the air as they raced towards the man. T’Shon found his initial attack thwarted, but that was of no surprise to the Wakandan. He ducked Doom’s counter and brought his knee up into the man’s stomach. The other took the attack and T’Shon had a split second to wonder why before he understood. The armor was strong. It would hold. So too would his knee which experienced slight pain. Backing up a step, he moved to the right as he saw out of the corner of his eye the Widow raise her pistols.

Black Widow fired repeatedly, but the rounds had no use. They melted into slag when thrown against the strength of Doom’s personal shield. She realized that this course of action was definitively not going to get the results that she was looking for and dropped it, quickly. Instead, she targeted the robotic soldiers that this Doom fellow had brought with him. When she ran out of rounds, the woman dropped the pistols, instead opting for Wakandan weaponry, dropped by one of the now deceased Wakandan soldiers. This choice proved to be far more deadly, allowing her to start taking down the robotic soldiers and keep them from intervening in the fight between their master and the Black Panther. She knew that she was out of her league here, she didn’t have the tech or the raw powers to be able to handle Doom.

Hopefully the Black Panther would.

T’Shon gritted his teeth as his punch was blocked by Doom’s armored forearm. The other seemed to say a few words and then T’Shon was thrown backwards, landing on the ground. His chest felt as though someone had hit him with an incredibly heavy weight. As he rose, he thanked Bast. His sternum was intact, and he didn’t have any serious bone damage. At least, none that he could currently feel. But he was going to be heavily sore in the morning, that was for sure. The King of Wakanda rose, slowly and pressed a hand against his chest. The foe he faced was not going to go down without a fight, a fight that he would give him.

The Black Panther sprang once more into the fight.

Wakanda
The Vibranium Mound

The Panther was fast, agile. More so than Doom. Unfortunately for the King of Wakanda he had the other man outgunned. As the black clad warrior darted at him Doom raised his hand and repelled the attack with a blast of energy, pushing T'Shon aside. He could almost feel the King's frustration. There was no doubt in Doom's mind that had he not been wearing his armor the Panther would have killed him in seconds. He had always been aware of the strengths of others and did his best not to fall into the same arrogant mind set that his father had once possessed, believing himself superior to all others in every way possible. He knew very well that his hand to hand combat abilities would not stand against someone like the Black Panther, Captain America, or the Batman. He knew that even his incredible intellect could be challenged by others such as Alex Burke and Paul Matthews. Doom's greatest strength was that he was fully aware of his shortcomings and he knew how to compensate for them.

The Black Panther dodged several blasts of concussive energy and managed to grab hold of Doom. His vibranium tipped claws could have penetrated the invader's armor had he been given enough time. However, the suit let out a massive electrical charge that surged through T'Shon's body and dropped the King to his knees. Smoke rose off of the fallen hero. Doom leaned down and gripped the man about his neck and lifted him into the air, "That charge should have killed you. Your combat armor doesn't appear to be sophisticated enough to have warded of death. Perhaps there is more to your heritage than I had initially put stock in." Doom's eyes narrowed under his mask, "No matter. The end comes for all things. Even kings."

Doom's hand began to squeeze around the Panther's throat. Savoring the moment of victory the armor clad villain did it slowly. An arrogant move that, ultimately, cost him this small pleasure. An electrical surge at about 30,000 volts hit Doom and sent a feedback through his armor. The technology protected him from the majority of the attack but he felt enough of it that he dropped the king in surprise.

====================
Wakanda
The Vibranium Mound

Katarina had used what she affectionately referred to as her Widow's Bite on Doom. An electrical attack that came from her wrist guards. It had been enough to slow the man down long enough for her to grab the Panther and drag him to safety. They were nearly out of the mound when she heard something behind them. It sound like a.......jet.

Doom flew up and knocked her to the ground with ease. In his possession was a crate, presumably full of Vibranium. He disengaged his armor's thrusters and set down. His eyes were cold beneath the mask. It was the only part of the man that she could see. "I have what I came for, girl. Not you, not the king, nor anyone else will stand in my way. The gems will be mine. Everything will be mine. And you and your king......you will both be dead."

Whispered words floated from the man's mask. Widow didn't understand them nor did she recognize the language. Suddenly a brilliant light surrounded their adversary and he was gone. He had left without killing them. It only took her a moment before she decided it was in their best interest for her to go back and check the rest of the vibranium stockpile. She left T'Shon in the tunnel, unconscious for the time being. She ran as fast as her athletic legs would carry her. As she entered the massive cavern yet again she saw three of the mechanical soldiers she had taken down. Their chests had a red light blinking on them. The Black Widow knew immediately what they were.....bombs. An explosion inside the Vibranium mound could go off like a nuclear warhead, killing the majority of Wakanda.

She opened up the chest on the first robot and carefully disarmed the bomb. As she made it to the second one she realized that the light was blinking significantly faster. These things were about to go off. She opened the chest and yet again disarmed the bomb. As she made it to the third and final robot she realized she didn't have time to disarm the weapon. She ripped out the bomb and ran as fast as she could to another side tunnel, one on the opposite side of the cavern than the tunnel where the Black Panther lie. She threw the bomb as hard as she could away from her and down the entryway. The weapon ignited while still in mid air and sent the Widow hurtling backwards against the far wall, knocking her unconscious. Blood trickled down her nose and from cuts on her forehead and arm. Her clothes had scorch marks on them. Despite her injuries, she had managed to get the bomb far enough away from the Vibranium.

It was the shock of the explosion, the loud noise, the wave of air that was thrown against him, that brought T’Shon back from unconsciousness. He lifted up off the ground, resting himself on his elbows. From what he could see, he wasn’t sure what had happened, but he knew that he was alive, which meant that significant damage had not been done to the huge Vibranium mound that was his country’s lifeblood. Coughing, he struggled to his feet and stumbled forward, picking up a rifle that had been dropped by one of his soldiers. It was always a good decision to make sure that one was properly armed. Moving into the Vibranium mound, he started to look around as best as he could. His head was ringing, and he was bleeding from a number of cuts and scrapes that he had picked up along the way.

His mind, while moving through a stream of consciousness that would have made James Joyce proud, did have one undercurrent, one theme that rifled through all of the thoughts that came to his mind unbidden. Who was this Doom? What did he want with his Vibranium? And how was the best way to make him pay. T’Shon, a consummate strategist, had been beaten, in one of the first tests of his place as the Black Panther, as the King. He had allowed his country to be both invaded and infiltrated. The infiltrator had helped defend from the invasion, but that didn’t absolve her of the sins that she had committed.

Anything that involved his Vibranium involved him. He had to oversee and approve of all decisions regarding it. Which made the theft of the metal that much more personal, that much more wounding. And it helped hone his damaged senses as he moved through the Mound.

Then he saw her.

Laying strewn on the ground, the Widow lay, her body injured, a price paid. She had sacrificed much to help him defend his country, and he could appreciate that. It didn’t absolve her of her sins, but it did grant her some clemency in the eyes of the King. He walked over to her, and shouldered the rifle, before bending down. He checked her vitals, confirming what his senses had already told him. She was still alive. His hands slid underneath her and he lifted her up. Unconscious, her body was a simple weight that he carried as he walked out of the Vibranium Mound.

That was when the noise started. The Black Panther looked up, his eyesight able to tell him that there were jets in bound. Non-Wakandan jets. His eyes narrowed.

Friend or foe?

Burke deftly guided the Quinjet to a soft landing at the edge of what appeared to have been a hard fought battleground. Black smoke rose from various areas on the scene, with bodies of both Wakandan Soldiers and Doombots inter-mingled with one another.

"Woah..." Brady whispered under his breath as he peered out the Quinjet's cockpit windows. He had seen his share of battlefields, but they were separated by the safety and censors of CNN, MSNBC and other news groups.

"Showtime, let's suit up everyone." Burke stated as the faceplate of his helm snapped down into place and he rose from his seat.

Captain America was already in position at the front of the group, as the rear doors of the Quinjet began to open. "Wolverine.." He stated without looking to everyone, his voice firm and confidently in command. "You, me and Sean are taking point. Iron Man, your our eyes in the sky. Get up and get us an aerial sitrep..."

"Hmm...funny, just what I would have suggested." Burke stated with a hint of cynical distain in his voice for being ordered. The repulsor units in his boots flared to life as he soared skyward.

If Burke's jab had bothered Cap, his face didn't show it. "Ethan, Spiderman, take up positions behind us and watch for enemy targets and call them out."

The Captain knew that Ethan's sharp eyes would be able to spot any enemies at a distance, and would probably take them out faster than alerting everyone. But this new Spiderman had shown he has the same pre-cognitive senses of his predecessor, almost like a living radar, and would definitely be useful staying near the group.

The group stepped down the ramp, with the exception of Spiderman, who grasped the top edge of the cargo door and nimbly flipped up onto the top of the Quinjet, and crouched there looking around the area.

"Wow, this was some party." Brady stated more to himself that to anything else. Part of him was still in awe of being with such a group, taking orders from the walking American Flag, and even almost getting sliced and diced by the Wolverine. "If by party you mean blood and body parts flying through the air, and if by body parts you mean screams and agonizing pain, and if by screams ..."

"Would you shut the fuck up kid." Wolverine grumbled over his shoulder.

"You were a poster child for Ritalin, weren't you?" Spidey quipped back.

Before Wolverine could respond. "Both of you, can it." Cap stated sternly. "Stay on point, we don't know what were dealing with here."

"Sorry Cap, but I think whatever happened here....we missed it." Spiderman stated.

Before his suits systems could even verify anything surrounding him, he knew there was nothing around them that was posing a danger. There was still a slight buzzing sensation on the back of his neck, kind of like the feeling a person might get if they were about to turn a dark corner without knowing what was around it.

Sean had been to Africa before. But he’d never been to any part of Africa that looked like this. Keeping his eyes open, he spread out and refused to let the grip on his M4 slacken. It was a Vanguard weapon, not one that he would have taken himself, but it was one that he was used to from his time in the Army. Usually he found himself using an ACR or a SCAR, but this would do. Not that he needed a gun anyway, considering the powers that he had, but he was still new to all of this having powers thing, and Sean still liked to carry the weapon around because it made him feel more comfortable. There seemed to be so much going on, but nothing at the same time. He could see the King of Wakanda, the Black Panther, and the guy was holding a rather shapely looking woman who was knocked out cold. The battle that had taken place had been vicious and there were dead bodies all over the place. There were also robotic bodies all over the place, and he had a feeling that despite the fact that he had the M4, it wasn’t going to do him much good in a situation like this.

Still, he held it closely and looked around, before his eyes settled back on Captain America. “Area seems to be secure, Captain. Not sure what the hell happened here, exactly. Maybe the guy wearing all black in the middle of the day can help us out on that one.”

“Whoa whoa. Cap’s the leader. He’s in charge of the leadering. I’m in charge of the sarcasm.” Spider-Man said.

“I want double whatever he’s getting.” Sean said in reply.

Wolverine sniffed the air, brow furrowed in a discontented frown. "Don't like this," he said. "Something's not right."

"Maybe it's that we just touched down in a barren no-man's land," Spider-Man said. "Or the fact that we came into this knowing that Doom is after vibranium, and we're pretty much in the midst of the onslaught as we speak?"

Wolverine growled. Despite this, he refused to take the bait. "No. Something else." He popped both sets of claws, a sure sign of imminent danger. Spider-Man had already had a grasp for it, and combined with Wolverine's heightened senses, there was no questioning the lingering feeling he had just a few seconds ago. "I'd bet that it ain't friendly, either."

Wakanda, Africa

The ground began to rumble and shake. The group instinctively took battle stances, prepared for anything. Unfortunately, they were all prepared to fight alone. There was no unity within this task force. Each member may be impressive on their own but they were not trained to fight as one. Hawkeye and Wonder Man had both received military training, which meant they were more likely to fall into line as far as cooperative combat went, but that wasn't saying much. He was fairly certain that Burke would do want he wanted to do and Wolverine would jump in claws first and cut till everything stopped moving. Spider-Man was an anomaly for Cap at the moment. He didn't seem to embrace either the team mentality or the solo gig.

A large group of tanks rolled over the hilltop followed by more of the Doombots. Ben frowned as he saw his team rapidly degrade into a mob. Of course Burke was the first to break ranks. He landed in front of the group and turned towards his companions, "A thousand dollars says I take down twice as many as you, Webs."

Before he got a response he lifted off the ground and hovered for a moment while he turned back to look at another of his teammates, Wolverine, "I'll get three times as many as you, Scruffy." Iron Man shot off at high speed, firing repulsors and missiles at the enemies. Spider-Man was the first to follow while Wolverine grunted and raised his bladed hands in a threatening motion, "Give it your best shot, bub." The mutant took off, undoubtedly hell bent on making Burke eat his words. Cap looked over as Hawkeye notched his bow, "So, we're good to go, right, Cap? We don't need to yell a battle cry or anything right?"

He let fly an arrow that struck a Doombot and exploded, taking out several other adjacent robotic soldiers as well. He notched another arrow and smiled as he ran forward, "Let's see the Tin Man beat me."

Cap turned to Wonder Man who was still standing next to him. Ben turned and watched as Wakandan soldiers ran past the pair to engage the enemy with the rest of the strike force. The Super Soldier's gaze landed on the Black Panther. He did not look away as he spoke to Wonder Man, "Engage the robots, but do me a favor, Sean. Loose the gun. We recruited you because your abilities lie far beyond typical weaponry."

Wonder Man turned to follow Ben's line of sight to the Black Panther, "What are you going to do, Captain?"

"I'm going to assure the man in charge that we came to help before he decides to send his army after us next." Sean nodded and headed off to join the rest of the group in battle.

Ben slung his shield over his back and peacefully approached the Black Panther. As he got closer he noticed the woman whom the monarch was holding was none other than Katarina Volkov, the Black Widow, "King T'Shon. I am Captain America. I apologize for our intrusion into your country. We were alerted to the attack by Katarina, whom it appears you've met. We came as quickly as we could. We thought we could help." His eyes drifted to the beautiful, unconscious woman, "Is she all right?"

Somewhere In the Middle of the Atlantic Ocean

The massive platform sat calmly on the surface of the water. Doom watched as his scientists began placing the vibranium in the proper locations of the machine. Soon his device would be calibrated and he would be able to open the gateway to the Realm Eternal. The sight in which the platform rested was perfect. His partner on the other side had assisted in finding it's location. He wanted to be able to get to Earth just as badly as Doom wanted to get to his home world. There was a treasure there waiting to be harnessed. At least, part of the treasure he was searching for. Undoubtedly, there would be information on the location of the other pieces. Doom turned his attention from the machine to the deck below where his troops were preparing. The invasion of Wakanda had been a feat in itself. However, he was not so arrogant to think that the invasion of Asgard would be any simpler. Indeed, he was moving on from attacking a nation led by the servant of a god to a nation full of gods. His eyes narrowed. Let the war begin.

Brady's eyes widened beneath his mask as he saw the march of lumbering tanks and Doombots cresting the hill. Already his spider-senses, adopting the long coined phrase of his predecessor, were tingling in earnest, which within his mind meant that danger was eminent, but not a 'direct' threat to him yet.

"Um, Mr Burke, I would like to formally tender my resignation." Brady stated in his mic. "Thanks for the cookies and chips, had a wonderful time at Stark, but...um....yeaah."

--Sorry Webhead not accepting resignations today. Play time is over. Time for you to earn your pay. Your Spiderman, now act like it goddammit!"-- Burke shouted through Brady's headset, just as he fired a repulsor beam that cracked open one of the Doom Tanks in a fiery explosion, taking several Doombots with it.

Somewhere inside Brady's mind, there was a sudden spark...trigger...that was touched upon, and he looked out at the scene of battle that was unfolding before him. Wolverine literally waded into a group of Doombots, without any concern, his scream of fury heard above the din of explosions and cries. His adamantium claws lopping off the limbs of the Doombots, that tumbled through the air like a mad chef cutting vegetables in his kitchen. And this was Wolverine's Kitchen. War, fighting, and slicing and dicing without a care for the enemy before him.

TINGLING.....

His body moves before he really even registers the energy shot streaking by him, his body simply moved out of the way...which is far more than the Iron Spider suit was designed for. There was something else working here, but for the moment, he could not quite put his finger on it. The spark within his mind calls him, it tells him that he was made for this, he is...

"I'm the GOD DAMN SPIDERMAN!" He cries out, and a sardonic smile crosses his lips, and he leaps high into the air just as several Doombot rounds whiz by him by the merest of inches. At the top of his leap he fires both of his web spinners, directing the webs at the turrets of two Doom tanks that are on either side of another tank. The webbing solidifies at the tips of the turrets, as Spiderman lands back on the top of the Quinjet.

Spiderman then walks back towards the nose of the Quinjet holding on tightly to each strand of webbing, even he is surprised by the strength of his own legs, and the powerful adhesion to the top of the Quinjet. To be able to stretch the webbing to nearly its breaking limits using only his feets grip and the strength of his hold on the webbing...once again...'not' within the design perameters of the Iron Spider suit.

But at the moment, a wicked smile frames his lips under the mask, and he wills his feet to release. With a loud yell of "WAAAAHOOOOOO!" Spiderman slingshots himself through the air directly between the two tanks, and lands on a large rock behind them, once again adhering to the surface of the stone, and pulls the webs that are attached to the turrets, and then at the precise moment, which is guided by the tingling of his senses, he pulls with all his strength. The two turrets move against their own gears with a loud screeching sound and the rise of black smoke as their gears strip and rend against the surprising strength of Spiderman's lithe frame.

Both turrets then fire, but instead of their intended target of the Quinjet, they obliterate the tank that was between them.

"YES!" Spiderman whoops in victory, and then the secondary explosions from the middle tank cause a chain reaction that cause the two tanks that destroyed it to erupt, almost as an act of vengeance for what they did to it.

"Oh shit!" Spiderman weaves his body with a series of flips and twists, through the screeching fiery shrapnel that rips by him.

OOC: Not too much, but it gets its moving. I may add more later to this.

IC:

“From all appearances, she will be alright. She acquitted herself well, and she demonstrated dedication to protecting the lives of innocents.” T’Shon said, looking down at the woman in his arms. “However, I still am not pleased with how she came to be in a position to do that in the first place. It is not something that I will tolerate. I expect a full explanation of everything. I don’t care whether the man under that mask is a soldier with the Super Soldier Serum or Steven Rogers. I am the King of Wakanda. I could very easily consider the events of today to be two separate declarations of war on my country. As you can see around you, we don’t take kindly to those who would come to our country unannounced with their own, private, agendas.” The Black Panther said. “You would do well, to remember that, Captain.” He added, as a group of medics came to check on him.

He waved them off, and rejoined the fight, but not before giving them the unconscious form of the Black Widow so that they could look after her and make sure that there was nothing wrong.

Sean Toretto didn't have to wait too long to comply with what Captain America had suggested. The weapon only came with a certain number of rounds, and he only had a certain number of magazines. With the sheer number of enemies that were coming towards them, he expended his ammunition rather quickly. The rounds themselves didn't do too much damage to the robots, and he required a lot to the same amount of damage that someone like Wolverine or Iron Man did without too many issues. Maybe the Captain had a point. He dropped the weapon and surged forward, his fists starting to glow with a purplish light to them. He rose into the air and flew straight and true, slamming through robot after robot. The Doombots were strong, but they weren't going to be able to stand up against Ionic energy.

He caught Hawkeye's gaze and the two made a silent decision that they mutually agreed upon. They were the two with the military training and they were easy to team up with, even if Sean liked to work with smaller numbers, namely, one. Despite all of that, understanding that in the time of battle that you needed to count on the guy on your right and the g on your left, well that was something that had been bred into him. So he started leading Doombots on a chase, dodging their attacks, and setting them up. With their attention on him, they didn't notice the archer who started letting loose arrow after arrow at them, each tipped with potent explosives.

When they finally did, and turned to deal with Hawkeye, Sean turned, up in the air, on an invisible, floating dime. Then he moved forward, flying through the air, his eyes purple, seething with Ionic energy.

Captain America nodded. The issue was tabled, but they’d finish discussing it after this was done. He had seen it in the King of Wakanda’s eyes. The soldier turned and jumped back into the battle. The fighting wasn’t over, not by a long shot and he had to contribute. No good leader on the ground could stand back and not help his men and women, and that’s what this team was, even if they weren’t a team yet. Ben corralled Hawkeye and Toretto first. Once they fell in line, the trio moved as a unit, demolishing the various Doombots that stood in their path. Captain America set his sights on Wolverine next. Instead of using words, he used actions, until Wolverine wasn’t listening to him, in so much as he had had his abilities focused and centralized in one direction. Spider-Man followed, opting to quickly become a member of the fold.

Which left Iron Man.

Who was singing along to some rock and roll song as repulsor blasts flew through the air from his palms. As he danced in the air, saying “Missed me” over and over to the Doombots, Burke became aware that the rest of the team was watching him. He paused and looked over his shoulder.

“Liking the show? There’s an encore later.”

“I’ll get the singles.” Toretto said.

“I was going to say that.” Spider-Man said.

“Can you stop showboating?” Captain America said, reaching out for the shield that returned to him.

“Captain America, showboating is my speciality.” Iron Man said, the humor present in his voice. He landed on the ground and started walking towards them, before throwing his hand over his other shoulder and shooting a repulsor blast that decapitated the remaining Doombot.

“Coast’s clear.” Wolverine said and sniffed.

Ben nodded, thanking God that they’d managed this so far without anyone dying, or worse, Burke’s ego taking a hit and turned to see Black Panther coming towards them. “King T’Shon, is there a place that we can talk?” He asked. “We both have questions, and I think it’s time we tried to find some answers.”

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

They were all in the palace’s war and strategy room. Almost all of the computer equipment was turned off. Not that T’Shon knew that Burke could probably override a lot of the Wakandan cyber defenses, but it was the thought that counted, he supposed. The room was also darkened somewhat, and there was no one there except the group, and one Wakandan technician. It was two hours after the attack.

“That’s everything you know about this Doom?” He asked, the holograph.

“Everything we know, you know.” Brian Grace said, his green face flickering every once in a while. “Now, what can you tell us about the Vibranium that was taken?”

“It’s a particular isotope. He went after a particular one, and we’re trying to figure out why. There isn’t anything special about it’s instabilities.” The technician said, after looking at and receiving permission from, his king, to speak.

“Do we have any means to track it?” Captain America asked.

Iron Man nodded. “It’s a slightly radioactive metal. The radiation is localized, and Wakanda only sells small amounts of Vibranium at a time.” He said.

“What’s your point?” Toretto asked.

“His point, is that there’s a limited supply, which means that the radiation is easier to pick out, if you do a world wide scan.” T’Shon said, simply. “We’re doing a scan for Vibranium related radiation around the world, but we’re going to need more satellites.”

“Done.” Grace said. “Let me make a few calls. We’ll get the satellites.”

“Now it’s just a waiting game.” Captain America said and T’Shon nodded.

As Cap, Black Panther and the rest form a circle around the console looking at the readout, Spiderman tries to see around the much larger people to get a look at the readouts for himself. He jumps several times to look over them, and gets the hairy eyeball of irritation from Wolverine. He literally climbs up the back of Iron Man's armor. Burke gets a sudden look of astonishment on his face, and turns his head to look right at Spiderman's mask, a mere inch or two apart. "You know, I had a girl do this to me once, and it was fun, but....um....no."

Spiderman hops off and grumbles slightly as he can't see over or around any of them. "Hmpf...damn jocks." He mutters under his breath and then looks up at the ceiling, and grins beneath his mask.

There is only a very faint hiss, which everyone basically ignores, and then suddenly in the middle of the heroes and researchers, Spiderman slowly comes down in the center of the group, upside down, his waldoes holding the webline. "That's better." He looks down at the readouts, his white orb-like unblinking eyes reflecting the monitors below him.

After a moment of looking at the data. "You know guys, this particular isotope...in theory...could be used to create one helluva power source." He looks around at the the others, who are looking at him in a confused manner. "What? Do none of you steroid-types read anything but the latest editions of Highlights Magazine and the special Big Ass issues of Hustler?"

Spiderman sighes heavily, and shakes his head. "I'll try to use small words. I read a research paper from Dr. Matthews where it 'could' be possible to harness the energies that Vibranium stores within its very cells. Think about it. A hand sized clump of Vibranium can hold enormous amounts of energy...say...enough energy to power a city the size of New York for months. When it starts to run dry, Ted the Power Man steps in, takes a sledge hammer and pounds on the clump for a few minutes, and its all recharged. Rinse and repeat."

He points at the image of Doom on the screen. "Something tells me that King Louis XIV's twin brother here is a man that knows what he's after. I mean....he took this particular type of Vibranium and left literally 'tons' of the other good stuff here. And if he is using it for a power source...let me tell ya guys, even with the small amount that he took...." He whistles in amazement.

"Yeah, I think I skimmed it for some light reading a couple of days ago." Sean said with a wry grin. "No pictures of his girlfriend, so I didn't pay too much attention."

"Now there's a scientific wonder." Burke said appreciatively of Emma Stevens.

Torretto turned to look at the Black Panther. "There can't been too much Vibranium radiation for these sensors to search through, how long should all of this take?" He asked.

"Do you have places to go?" T'Shon asked, evenly.

Sean shrugged. "Not particularly, I'm being paid, but seems to me that this business is all rather important and needs to be dealt with as soon as possible."

T'Shon couldn't help it, the King looked at Captain America. "You come to my country with paid mercenaries, to fight your battles? Typical Americans." He said and looked back at the screen.

Spiderman looked around at Torretto. "Wait? Your getting paid to come here and...what? Thrill us with us with your 'Me Tarzan, you Jane' impression?" He thumps his chest while hanging upside down from his webbing.

"I thought we were here to...oh, I don't know...help King Kitty Cat..." he looks at Black Panther and shrugs slightly. "...No offense your majesty... and the Wakalakins, and prevent Iron Man's poorer brother from doing something bad with his ill gotten booty. But hey! That's just me."

"You attempt levity because you doubt yourself. You're not in control and you don't know who you really are." T'Shon said. "I don't need to be able to see your face to determine that." He added after a moment. "You insult powers you know nothing about because otherwise it's just all too much for you to deal with. I know, I was there once." Then the King turned and looked at Toretto. "As for you, mercenary, let's consider then, that everything from here on out is above your paygrade. I'd suggest you take your tongue and hold it, lest you say more to confirm the assumption that your intelligence or lack thereof should prevent you from remaining in the room."

He paused. "Or to put it in terms you two might better understand, you, you're a scared child, and you, you should let the adults talk and stop being an idiot."

He stared at T'Shon for a long moment, his large orb-like eyes almost seeming contemplative at his words. "Wow..." Spiderman says quietly. "...that, that just hurt, ya know. Now tell me something I don't know." He sarcastically finishes.

"Look, your royalness. While I might not know what the hell is going on, and the last few days are kinda blur to me between...let's see, getting shot at, blown up, by a guy that was suppose to be a best friend no less, nearly drown, developing strange 'abilities' and I'm walking around in a suit that I designed for someone else to use, which I'm now taking up the mantle of my all time hero Spiderman...yeah I know...wow, just...wow."

The waldoes release the webbing and he nimbly lands on his feet in front of T'Shon, whom he now has to look up at, he begins waggling his finger at him. "You got some huge hairy cat balls to diss the people that just came to your island to HELP you...and trust me BP, 'you' need the help, especially since for all your vaunted superiority and technology, you just allowed some Phantom of the Opera poser to steal a substance so dangerous and volatile that with the right amprage could literally blow this blue marble of a world to pieces....and you call us idiots?" He finishes his rant in almost an out of breath high pitched squeal. "You need to climb out of the litter box that you have set so high up on the Scratching Post, and recognized a helping hand when you see it."

He turns around and starts to walk away. "I need a Xanax...." He whispers quietly while rubbing his head, and the chaos of his thoughts.

"Cut the crap," Wolverine chimed in, arms folded across his chest. "We came here to offer assistance in dealing with a known threat. Throwing a pissing contest isn't going to help us take down the Tin Man."

"Thank you!" Spider-Man said, throwing up his arms in relief. "At least someone here is willing to see things from my -"

Burke gripped him gently by the shoulder. "I'm pretty sure he was talking to you."

"WHAT?! And here I thought we were just starting to get along. Under what authority do you have to be taking charge?"

Wolverine brought up a fist, and three adamantium claws popped out of his knuckles, the sound of metal sliding against metal resounding in the room. It grew quiet. "This is my authority," he said, clearly agitated. "Or do we need to go through another little demonstration?" There was a moment of silence. "Black Panther's house. His rules. You show some respect, or you get the fuck out."

"Fine... geez... but when this is all done and over with, I'm getting you some therapy."

The claws slid back in, and Wolverine turned to look at Black Panther. "So we track this vibranium," he continued, "but Wonder Merc here has a point. The longer this takes, the more of Doom's plan can be taken into affect. This ain't exactly something we can sit on our asses and twiddle our thumbs, waiting for something to happen."

Black Panther didn't acknowledge any part of what Wolverine had said outside of what was direct at him. Outside of the fact that this team's troubles were their own, he'd already moved past his issues with Spider-Man. "Unfortunately, it's our only option at the moment. We have no knowledge of where he might have gone, so we have nowhere to really go to look for information. This is our best bet."

"It's our only bet." Captain America said with a nod.

"Indeed." Black Panther said. "Unless Black Widow knows something and when she comes to, she can tell us, but for some reason I doubt it."

Wolverine hmphed. "SHIELD boasts the best intelligence and most accessible toys on Earth... and it can't even muster the resources to track down a well known international criminal with a ton of radioactive material in tow. Somebody just kill me now, and get this whole fucking thing over with...."

"And you were reaming on my ass for attitude," he heard Spider-Man mutter.

"'At's what I do, Sunshine."
