Re: Words of Radiance - Audible

I went ahead with it, and I'm enjoying the audiobook a lot. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are great narrators, and the same ones who narrated A Memory of Light , the last of The Wheel of Time series. I listen to it on my smartphone, and it's nice to have when I'm doing chores around the house or t...

Words of Radiance - Audible

Anyone here a Brandon Sanderson fan? I'm pretty excited about the upcoming release of his second book in The Stormlight Archive, Words of Radiance . I'm kind of short on cash and time to sit and read, so I'm toying with the idea of signing up for a free trial of Audible in order to get it for free i...

Ways the Shutdown's Affected Your Life

I'm a bit disconnected from what's going on in America these days, so my first clue that there was a shutdown was in my first Introduction to Management class at my college here in Jerusalem. Our teacher informed us that we can't receive our textbook from the library yet, as it is a new book that ha...

I'm guessing from the opening of that trailer that it was made before Lucas decided on the "...long time ago..." part.

Re: I just had to share!

When visiting brandonsanderson.com I came across these recordings of Brandon Sanderson writing a portion of his next book, Words of Radiance , which I thought were pretty neat. For those of you not familiar with Brandon Sanderson, he's an increasingly well-known author in the fantasy genre, both for...

One Armed Soldier

I saw this article on Fox News about my sergeant from advanced training. He has a very inspiring story. Re: Book/Reading Material Help

If you decide that you'd like to buy some of Sanderson's work, his book The Way of Kings is on sale for a month for $2.99 in Kindle format. It's a huge book, so that's a great discount. It's normally $8.99. You could also try to win a copy of the print edition by commenting on the discussion thread ...

Re: Book/Reading Material Help

I used my Kindle all the time when I was in the army. It helped me not go crazy, especially pulling 2-4 watches last winter on Mt. Hermon. I'd add the Mistborn trilogy, Elantris, and Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson to Palin's list. They're not only great writing, but they're very long. If you want t...

I saw this on TED and I thought it was pretty neat: HULC Exoskeleton . The main downside would be the logistics of rechargin...

Sounds like the same problems we have. We have another type that are called in our army slang "ninja" knee pads. They work great and don't have any of those issues, but they're relatively rare and I never managed to get my hands on any.

Hey Vague - Are those the knee pads you use when you are in active service? Do you find they work well for you? They look similar to what we have over here, and we have a lot of problems with them.

Re: Reforging Connections: Calm Before the Storm

Outside of a quick movement of fingers to bring the message contents to his view, both events were noted and then quick...

Couple of questions: 1. Did Delth give Cerin the custom communication device and datapad that he took off of the lead impostor's body, or is he only tasked with analyzing the data he collected from the Teamore servers? 2. Any thoughts on what we'll find in the data from Teamore? I got the impression...

Cerin felt as cold as he sounded. He always wondered if he’d have what it took to kill someone, and while he didn’t know how he’d feel after doing it like this, he knew he wouldn’t hesitate. And he knew that everyone else in the room knew it as well. Everyone had frozen except for Delth, whose light...

Cerin was really starting to wonder why Ardin had requested an aide to assist with handling Imperial protocols.
