Stormtroopers unleashed laser fire through the Montai Planetary Spaceport, taking down the poorly-trained commercial security guards with systematic ease. The inner chambers were slightly more difficult: some Mantooine Army elements had stayed behind to ensure the escape of the officials who opted to leave from here. Many of the higher negotiators went through the tunnels, staying with the troops and attempting to make it to the capital.

Still, the stormtroopers cleared the buildings out with low casualties, capturing around five minor officials (ooc: No one's here to RP the officials, so... these are just random people, no character in particular). Three CR-90s lifted off the platform as the stromtroopers raced outside. But the AT-PT escorts of the APCs were ready. The last one to take off was met with fifteen concussion missiles into the engine exhaust vents. The fuel tanks erupted in flame, and the crippled ship dropped down to just under 50 meters in the air before its reactor overheated, vaporizing the ship. The other two made it out safely into space, only to meet the blockade waiting for them.

The Overlord picked up the targets before they exited the atmosphere, and the first diplomatic covette was met by the full fury of the ISDs ion cannons, disabling it almost instantly. The tractor beam locked on and began pulling it into the docking bay, while the last corvette was fired on by the ion cannons of the other ships. The diplomatic ships were not to be destroyed unless absolutely necessary, as per their official objectives.

Third Wave was now 5 km from the city, the intermittent trickle of laser fire from the AT-ATs now expanding into a flood as the the other ground troops joined in, unleashing an inferno of death on the beleagured city. Buildings shattered and fell, spreading the already massive fires throughout the wreckage that encased the ground in the downtown regions. GT's released proton torpedoes in the middle of city blocks, the remains of the buildings within flying long distances before landing, a massive crater marking their former positions. The city was in its death throes.

General Krius looked at the map before him. It appeared that the ill-fated rebellion was doomed, at least planetside. He didn't know anything of the space battle, and unless his ship was concerned, he didn't really care. The Admirals had informed him of a 4th Wave being prepared in the Lord Republic. Almost immediately, he commed in his contact on the ship, Major Trimena (ooc: yes, same guy as before, just without killing the captain) and ordered him to stop the preparations. He was planning on the possibility that forces might escape, and using worn-out troops was suicide. The "4th Wave" wasn't really needed anyways, so they would wait until the next target was located.

ooc: That's not your fleet. Those are the emissary people who didn't leave in time: like I said, random NPCs that are being captured/killed. Your ships are FINE. If my ISD is even involved in the blockade battle, Bonaparte would be the one saying that my ship started attacking your group. Different set of corvettes entirely (ie. the red markings, "diplomatic craft"... I was trying to ensure that you were clear on the fact that those were not your ships).

ooc. fair enough aragorn, well time to end this in style for reasons explained in the OOC

The ship couldn't take much more, hulls and gears buckled as shield generators exploded and showered the unfortunate workers nearby with deadly rains of sparks and fire. Engines gave out and spluttered as the glowing blue flame within them slowly died as power drained slowly from the ship as more and more turbo laser fire scorched the hull.
Fighters were being shot down ever second, fighter pilots screamed over the comm as TIEs swooped down on them in 10 to 1 numbers, annihilating them with raking fire of green death.
Another Corvette, the resistance was pulled into the deathly valley between the two Star Destroyers by the invisable might of the tractor beams and destroyed with ease. Its engines fought to escape but turbo laser fire with the strength of thunder hammered into it from both sides of its hull, it was ripped to pieces in seconds as the explosion brushed the heavily armoured hulls of the deathly visions of the Star Destroyers.
His crew either lay dead or wounded, his ships destruction was imminent, warning lights and red alerts flashed warnings in vain to the remaining crew like the heralds of death that they were. The hull was black and punctured, his turbo laser batteries burnt out, and all torpedos spent. His fleet wasn't finished yet, but he was.
Dont forget the mission, just buy some time for the people below, so thats just what he was going to do. He may be as good as dead but he was going to take those bastards with him.
Slowly, Crey rose from his chair and barely managed to walk to the helm controls, with what respect he could manage he pushed the bleeding. broken body of his helm control officer to one side and brought the ship under his control. Slowly, with the grim determination of those that know they are dead, the ship turned towards the nearest Star Destroyer and drove forward with the last bit of might it could muster.
It pushed against the forces fighting against it, turbo laser fire raked the hull and armour stripped off as the corvette slowly fell apart. But still it pushed on, systems all around Crey exploded and the ship rocked like a star about to explode, sirens screamed their death knell as they got closer and closer. He knew where he was headed, straight into the bridge of that one.
Aboard the Star Destroyer, officers screamed commands at lower officials as the burning corvette flew relentlessly forward, men abaondoned their posts in terror in a desperate attempt to escape the juggernaught of burning metal coming toward them.
With a last contemptuos look, Crey flew it straight into their bridge.
It tore through the armoured hull and men scremaed, if only for a split second, as a burning fist of the gods smashed through their protection and detonated. Flame ballooned out from both sides as the Paladin breathed its last breath, explosions rocked the entire Star Destroyer as the entire bridge was torn apart from within.
The other captains could only look on then continue fighting to make such a sacrifice not in vain.

ooc. *sniff* well thats the end of crey, sorry guys but your going to need a new space commandant, sorry to leave you in this difficult position but that should at least stun the Imperials for some time. Later

---Aboard the Ascendancy---

“DEAR GOD!” Said Commodore Perring in complete disbelief. For this was the first time he had ever seen a star destroyer in flames of defeat. And by a mere corvette?

“Sir, the Impending has just been critically hit in the main Bridge.” Reported the Captain

“I CAN SEE THAT CAPTAIN. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.” the Commodore took a deep breath and leaned against a computer consul.”
“Damn them, DAMN THEM ALL. Rebels, insurgents, vermin, SCUM, PETTY LESS SCUM. How dare they. We must now teach these rebels a lesson. They must understand that vengeance is a nasty cycle.” Said the Commodore with a certain Imperial wrath in his voice.

“Captain, move to Launch Protocol 5.” Ordered Commodore Perring

“Aye Aye sir.” Replied the Captain

The captain went over to a communications relay consul and sent a transmission for all ships to switch to Launch Protocol 5. Very soon the rebels that were left from the enemy squadron would feel the pain and annoyance of a full compliment of TIE fighters. These rebels would be the first to experience the true might of an Imperial fighter wing.

As the launch actions were being conducted, the Impending with all systems null was falling like a horrendous monster towards the surface of Mantooine. The first great Imperial casualty had just been made.
