OOC: Thread Here - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10416

Smoke wafted up through the air and light played along the walls of the white ivory tower. Andry Redding watched as his home burned. Everything that was once pristine and beautiful in the capital city now stood in ruins. What wasn’t already charred remains of months of fighting would soon be. Andry had never known anything but war; however it had not touched him until earlier this year.

The Kingdom of Cira’Kor had long stood a bastion of light to those seeking refuge from the horde. Nobody knew what the Horde was or where it came from. Nobody knew when they had first attacked. The small planet of Tyribus was the last hope to the survivors of what had once been a prosperous colony. All seven of the other colony planets had fallen to the invaders and it looked like Tyribus was soon to follow.

The colony hadn’t known of anyone outside their solar system and were ignorant to the rest of the galaxy. While they did not know of the Jedi or Sith they did have similar teachings. If someone from the New Republic or Empire were to stumble upon the Colony they would be classified as part of the Unknown Regions.

Andry had been ordered to the tower by his father as the Horde had broken through the frontlines and assault the capital city. Andry would give anything to have been out there fighting for his planet with his brothers in arms. They were out there dying and he was watching from afar. It just didn’t set well for him. It would have been easy to unlock the door and best the two guards that had been left but to do so would be to dishonor his father.

Andry felt Nikolai before he even reached the tower. Picking up his pack he threw it over his shoulder. He knew what was to come. It had been discussed beforehand that if the city feel they would board a ship and escape into space.

Nikolai burst into the room breathing hard. Taking a few deep breaths before he started suddenly straightened up and said, “Prince Kitna, the southern wall has fallen we must leave immediately.”

Nodding the two left the room and quickly descended the tower on foot. Reaching the tarmac Andry spotted a ship he wasn’t familiar with.

“Nikolai where did that ship come from?”

Nikolai slowed his pace as he too took in the sight of the ship before he replied, “I am not sure Andry but the teacher told me to meet him on board it.”

With that the two made their way across the tarmac to the ship and boarded. The teacher was waiting for them. As they placed their packs in storage lockers on the side the teacher closed the ramp and left toward the front.

Moving to the bridge Andry stopped suddenly as who he expected to find wasn’t there. Sitting down in the copilot seat he stripped himself in before looking over the controls which were only vaguely familiar.

Reaching out he felt only two others onboard, his sister Andrade and her protector Tobin.

“Captain Whittaker where is the rest of my family?”

There was a long pause before the Captain finally responded, “Your sister is in the lounge, your father will join us on the Dauntless.”

Andry could feel that the Captain wasn’t telling him the complete truth but he let it go for he needed to concentrate on his duties as the co-pilot. He had his little sister to worry about and if his mind wasn’t on the task at hand it could cost them both their lives.

Several minutes later they arrived on board the Dauntless. The Dauntless was one of only a few of the remaining ships of the combined Colony Defense Fleet. Most had already been wiped out. The fleet hid among an asteroid belt that circled a moon nearby one of the conquered colony planets.

Andry waited on the bridge for his father to arrive.

A beeping sound erupted from one of the pits lining the front of the bridge shortly before a young ensign looked towards first the Prince and then the Captain, "Captain we have an incoming message, priority one."

Captain Whitaker walked to the center of the bridge where his chair waited and said softly, "On screen Ensign."

Suddenly a screen appeared on the viewport and Andry watched as his father address the Captain.

"Captain I am sure you are aware of how things are going on the ground. Please open the channel to all of the fleet."

Waiting a few moments as the ensign who originally opened the channel nodded toward the Captain. The Captain looked back toward the screen and said, "Sir you are live to the fleet."

"This is King Redding, things are not looking good in the capital. They have pushed us back into the Keep. Once the outer walls fall we will retreat into the Keep itself. We should be able to hold out for some time. The fleet cannot help us. You are outnumbered even more so than us. Your final mission is to make sure our people survive. We planned for this circumstance. We have programmed each ship with a set of unknown coordinates. We are unsure where you will go or if you will even survive. This is new technology and one we haven't tested. If you wish to leave the fleet you will be able to do so but know this, there is nowhere else to go. It has been an honor to fight with you all. I am proud of you all. "

At some point in the middle of his fathers final speech Andry remembered stepping forward to interrupt his father but a hand reached out and grabbed him by his shoulder and he could hear his teacher say, "Do not be foolish young Kitna, you will only embarrass yourself and dishonor your father."

As in most things the teacher was correct. Sitting his teeth Andry remained silent with his shoulder squared to the floor. The crew kept glancing at him as his father finished speaking. As the holo message disappeared Andry turned on his heal and walked towards the Captains quarters. As he approached the doors slid open. He was aware the teacher and Captain had followed him inside but he ignored them. As the door shut Andry spoke out loud, "Computer open the last communication channel with Radzyn Keep."

Several seconds went by before the computer replied, "There is no response to my query."

Andry stood in silence for a few minutes before replying, "Keep trying."

The teacher stepped up beside him and turned the computer off.

"Kitna your father wouldn't want to compromise our position. He knows what he is doing."

Without saying another word Andry spun on his heel and left both the Captain and teacher staring at his back. Making his way toward the hanger he quickly exited the lift and scanned the bay before picking out his prized fighter. Hastly moving through the throng of people he made way to it. Just as he was approaching the ladder to the cockpit a form appeared before him.

"Tobin if you do not move I will move you myself."

A tall dark skin male whose body rippled with power stood his ground and looked sullenly down at Andry. Suddenly Andry felt the bottom of his coat being yanked downward. He knew instantly who was behind him. Spinning around he sunk to his knees and gathered his little sister, Andrade, in his arms.

"Dee what are you doing here, you know this isn't a place for a little girl."

Dee was the only person Andry knew who could hid her presence from him. She had always been able to even when she was an infant. Pulling her away from him he said, "Listen to me, I want you to go with Tobin to your room and stay. Do you promise?"

Shaking her head she scowled at Andry, "Something is wrong, I can't feel momma anymore. Where is momma Andry?"

"Dee listen to me. Momma and Papa are at home. They won't be coming with us for awhile. Now I need you to do what big brother says and go with Tobin. You can wait in my room if you want."

Andry tried not to let his emotions show on his face or his presence but Dee could clearly see something was wrong. A tear formed in her eye and began to run down her cheek before she said, "We aren't going to see momma again are we?"

Andry's heart hurt. He hadn't really accepted that his mother had been killed. It was finally hitting him with full force. Fighting back his emotions he regained his composure he told Dee the only thing he could, the truth.

"No, we won't Dee, she is gone. She died fighting with Papa but she is in a better place. A place without the invaders. A place where she can tend her garden everyday."

Dee looked up at Andry and replied, "Can we visit momma, Andry? Can we?!?! Can we!?!?"

"One day we will visit her together but not today. Now go with Tobin, please."

Smiling Dee grabbed Tobin's hand and said, "Lets go you big monkey."

Nodding to Tobin he knew she would be in good hands. Reaching the foot of the cockpit ladder a new voice reached out to him through the force.

Where do you think you are going?

Startled it took Andry a moment to realize what was happening. Channeling his inner presence he searched for the voice before finally finding it. Thinking to himself he projected his thoughts toward that person.

Father I come to rejoin the fight. With my help we can retake the city.

No Andry, the City is lost. It is only a matter of minutes before they breach the keep. You must survive, you must make sure your sister reclaims the throne of Cira'Kor.

No Father I will make the difference.

You may be the Kitna son but you are still bound by the word of your King. Go now.

For awhile it was as if nothing happened in the hanger. Andry didn't hear the bustle of the people, of the equipment, or even the numerous fighters coming and going. Finally his father said.

I am proud of the man you have become. You did not receive the honor of becoming the Kitna because you were my firstborn. You earned that honor and you will make a great teacher one day. You and your sister must live so that one day you can return and reclaim what is rightly ours. What is rightly yours. Keep your sister safe. Your mother and I love you Andry. Now go.

Andry's only reply was,

The Kings word is law.

Turning around he saw the teacher waiting for him at the lift and slowly made his way to him. The Captain was there as well and Andry addressed him first.

"Captain you have your orders, commence them immediately."

Turning toward his teacher he said quietly, "I ask for your guidance wise one."

Nodding sagely the old man waved him into the lift. Soon the two men were gone leaving the Captain standing alone. Issuing orders loudly he told the crews to prepare for combat, all hands on deck. Quickly entering the lift he made way to the bridge where he issued the same orders to all of the ships in the fleet. It was time to run but run where was the question on everyone's mind.

Andry sat meditating in the center of his room. If you had known he had once been heir to the throne you would have thought his personal quarters would have been more lavish. After learning that he had become the new Kitna one would have realized why he no longer had material positions. Andry had advicated the throne to his little sister Andrade to become the Kitna. There weren't many laws that applied to the royal family but one that was set in stone was that no person could be the King and the teacher at the same time. The teacher was the most honored individual in the kingdom and they only person who did not have to obey the King. Kitna was the honored position of the teachers apprentice, the next in line to become teacher. Only the best, brightest, most talented pupal could become Kitna.

Andry's bother, Peter, had been selected to be Kitna orginally but he had been killed early in the war off planet when the invaders first attacked. If what his father thought did come to pass then Andrade and he would be the only remaining royals. Nobody knew what the invaders wanted, they only knew that they seemed to come in endless hordes of soldiers. Some had even been animals that acted if they possesed some sort of intelligence. The warriors who had been trained by the teacher had reported back that the invaders felt wierd. Like there were two presences in each of them. Which made absolutely no sense as each being only had one presence.

Standing up Andry quickly dressed in his flight suit. Giving himself one last look over he headed toward the hanger. He would make a speech to the fleet and then they would make a break for the outer edge of the colony into jump range. If they could punch a hole through the mass of ships that seemed to never end they would iniate the jump sequence. Something that had never been done before, no ship had ever left or come to their Colony until the invaders. This was the first time they had even attempted to use their new jumpdrive to leave. It could do nothing, it could even blow the entire ship apart. Nobody knew what was going to happen. The scientists who had created it reverse engineered it from one of the first invaders ships that had been shot down. It was assumed that the ship was gathering intelligence and just happen to have bad luck and be spotted by a group of academy students out on fighter training excersises.

After the speech he would lauch in his fighter along with the rest to try and make history and save what was left of his people.

The small armada made its way towards the edge of the gravity well all the while being harried by enemy vessels. Soon the vast armada was only a few ships still striving to make the edge of the system while protecting the command ship. Just as they approached the edge the last of the command ships escorts erupted in a ball of flame. Slowly standing the Captain steadied himself as his ship rocked once again from the onslaught of incoming laser fire and missiles.

Suddenly a huge explosion blossomed from the rear of the ship halting its forward progress. The Captain bellowed out, "STATUS REPORT!"

"Sir we have lost rear shields, the engines are offline, decks 3, 7, 9 are venting oxygen."

Cursing under his breath the Captain knew they were all but dead. Opening the comms channel to the entire ship he said, "All hands head for your fighters and escape pods. The ship is lost. We will try and divert the bulk of the ship back into the incoming fleet. You all know our mission and I expect you to do your duty."

Switching the comms button off he nodded to an ensign setting at a console who quickly switched on the abandon ship alarm. Many of the crew moved to leave while some remained. Smiling at those who had stayed behind he said, "Thank you for staying but you must go to your ships and pods. We must create enough of a distraction for the Mirage. It has been a pleasure serving with you."

The Captain saluted first which wasn't customary but the remaining crew instantly stood at attention and saluted back. As the past the Captain they said their goodbyes. Setting down in his command chair he reflected on his life, his family, his planet. All were lost. If the invaders didn't wipe them all out then his entire planet would surely become slaves. Their only hope was the royal blood line. The Kitna and the Royal Princess. Both whom he had been tasked with keeping safe. He had failed his job and it had been agreed that if it came to this point they would move to the edge of the system and initiate the drives that his government had reverse engineered from the invaders who had come during his great grandfathers time. Nobody knew what they did, it was theorized they were a means of faster than light travel. There seemed to be some sort of coordinate system used but his people hadn't been able to figure them out.

They planned to let the computer input random numbers. The Captain had argued it was sure death for his people but in the end they would die anyways if captured. Standing he moved towards the console and input his plan into the computer. The main engines were down but large thruster had been installed around the nose of his vessels. With the right amount of thrust he could swing his ship around and shield the fleeing fightercraft with his broadside.

Putting as much power into the remaining shields he initiated the command sequence and sat down to wait for the inevitable end. Soon he saw streams of escape pods and fighters launching from the bay. Several other fighters still in the battle soon joined up to protect the fleeing craft from many of the enemies own fighters. Smiling he noticed the sleek design of the Mirage as it raced ahead of the main group of ships. The ship was designed for speed and durability. It was the only non capital ship to be outfitted with one of the new drives. Hopefully it wouldn't rip the smaller ship to pieces.

Explosions started to rock the ship violently and the Captain looked down at the command board. The ship was starting to split into two pieces. Knowing that the Mirage would soon be within jump range he turned his attention back to the viewport. Explosions erupted around him and fires started across the bridge. The Captain paid them no head as he trained his eyes on the small craft. In an instant the craft was gone in a small flash. Smiling the Captain died as a blast of flame engulfed him as the reactor finally overloaded and the ship tore itself apart from the inside. The last thought through the mans mind was, Avenge our people Kitna!

Blackness... There was only pitch blackness. What had happened. The last thing I remember was the Mirage initiating the jump. Are we dead? Is this the afterlife?

Peering around Andry tried to make out any sources of light but none were to be found. Trying to step forward his feet stayed firmly locked in place. Calling out for help he was shocked as nothing escaped his open mouth.

Then this is death, or worse. Poor Andrade she didn't deserve this. She was to young to die. She hadn't fulfilled the purpose of her life.

Suddenly a voice rang out in the distance. The voice was distinctively wrong, evil was to kind of a word to use.

What destiny could she have Andry? You're people are DEAD... She has nothing left to do. Her purpose was to be born and die.

What!?!? Who are you?

Several seconds passed as Andry waited for a reply but nothing came. Several months passed as Andry tried to make sense of what was happening. He would try different things to escape his black prison but each time the crushing red aura would appear and the essence of something he had never felt before would crush him stopping every attempt even before it could begin.

I don't know who you are or what you want but I must get out of here. My people need me! My family needs me!

Suddenly a rumbling laughter filled Andry

At any cost Andry?

Yes, anything.

So be it, but when the time comes I will call on you and you will answer.

Suddenly the blackness was gone, replacing it with brilliant white lights. Andry quickly groaned as his eyes exploded with pain as the light pierced through his head. He would not close his eyes, he would endure this pain. He would not sink back into the blackness. Never again.

Several weeks passed as Andry withdrew within himself. Wrapping his mind in a cocoon he went to work repairing the damage his body had endured in the jump and what he could only assume was the aftermath. At last he had nearly completed his recovery but one stubborn spot remained. Again and again he attacked the spot trying to repair it but whenever he thought he had it the spot instantly grew back.

Finally giving up Andry admitted that at the current time there wasn't much use to continue. Perhaps the Teacher would have the answer. Slowly willing his body to become active again he unleashed the protective barrier he had created around his mind and opened his eyes. The light wasn't as harsh as before but he still squinted. Raising up on one arm he scanned his surroundings, which wasn't much. He was in a small room which was made of bamboo. Swinging his legs up and off the cot he grimaced in pain as his body hadn't moved in months.

As his feet hit the ground he curled his toes as they met the dirt. The only thing he could deduce was that whoever owned the hut was primitive compared to what the Colony had to offer in housing and medical care. He couldn't find a single piece of equipment which he should have been attached to after sustaining injuries such as his. It was a miracle he was even alive.

Standing up he noticed he was dressed in a dark tan robe with several different symbols on it. Reaching out with his essence he searched his surroundings and found he was surrounded by all sorts of people and animals. Slowly making his way toward the entrance to the hut he opened the flap and stepped into the light. Suddenly he felt a warning as if someone was approaching, it didn't feel threatening. Andry essence was dimmed still recovering from his injuries and the extreme use of healing himself.

Out of what seemed thin air a man appeared in front of him. Dressed in similar robes the man was of average height and in very good shape. The main feature you noticed first was the stark white hair spiked up above his head. Covering his head was a head band with more of the strange markings that covered his clothing.

"Greetings Kanji, my name is Toriyama of the Bakeneko Clan. I will be your guide to our village. Once we take a tour the elders would like to speak with you."
