I will say this much, in the foreseeable future I'll be making a new redesigning of the galaxy map (I'll discuss further elsewhere when it becomes more a reality than a plan.) So, if the first one wins, the NR can take their green back. Mostly because there's no one to argue from the GE side. :oldrazz:

Clearly people prefer Donald Grump (Combination of Green and Trump no political commentary) and Marco Grubio to the rest of the field.

Now those who wish to join Green Squadron, let us discuss and deliberate on how we should reform the squadron.

For starters I would question how much consideration should be given to the potential/upcoming reboot in regards to perhaps keeping some details.... wait for it .... vague in order to not end up with complications when the canon shifts. :bothan:

Here's a question, in the new continuity should Green Squadron be a Republic unit or a Resistance unit? We're not very likely to see action with the Republic unless it's like pirates, or something, which has its benefits but the squadron may also be too green to go up against the First Order right from the start. Poe was recruited because he was an exceptional pilot which sort of suggests there's some kind of criteria that has to be met so Green Squadron might not really qualify if we're all just rooks.

If we were to vote for it I would vote for Republic to start and maaaybe a shift to Resistance later.

Whoa whoa whoa.

First you're assuming that this restart of Green Squadron is not going to happen in the soon to be Old Exodus Timeline and will be in the New Exodus Timeline or NET.

NET is trademarked by Mir and Associates.

I'm still very leery and curious at the same time to see the more detailed picture of republic vs imperial remnant vs first order vs resistance. To get a grasp on the ratios and who stands where and all of that.... so it's definitely a relevant question

From what little I've ready by the time of TFA the galaxy is split pretty much fifty fifty between the Republic and the FIrst Order. Leia formed the Resistance after repeatedly failing to convince the Republic that the First Order is a genuine threat and a lot of that has to do with the First Order having spies in the Republic senate but also the fact they just got through a big galactic war and probably didn't want to start another one so soon. The First Order being what they are is pretty much a worst case scenario of the Germans doing the exact same thing during World War 2 where they retreated their ships to regroup.

I guess I'm not sure where I picked it up by I really though that the Republic and the Empire were still the dominant forces in the galaxy and that the First Order, while obviously more radical/martial was a smaller group in comparison on a galactic scale...

I haven't really seen much information on the Empire, like I think some form of it is still there but it's definitely the smallest of the three governments and with the Republic being as disorganized as it is the First Order is arguably the most powerful force in the galaxy in this time period.

There is no Empire:

"That all came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again? What could be born of that? Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn't get done?"

The First Order is basically Nazi Germany. The Germany after World War 1 couldn't possibly fight a war of that scale again but then Snoke comes along and does a thing and suddenly Germany's capable of fighting a war on three fronts.

With the Empire limited in its ability to wage war and reduced to a mere fragment of its former glory, Imperial warships began jumping into the Unknown Regions in an effort to escape the prying eyes of the New Republic. There, distanced from the galaxy at large and facing a vast and unexplored frontier, the First Order would eventually be formed from the remnants of the Old Empire, being inspired by the principles of the fallen government and led by many of its former officers.[3]
Kylo Ren and Snoke

Supreme Leader Snoke commanded the First Order from the shadows.

With many of the Emperor's servants carrying some of the regime's greatest military secrets to the Unknown Regions, the First Order began a massive militarization effort to produce a technologically superior military to the former Galactic Empire, keenly aware that it lacked the superior numbers of the former state. Numerous shipyards, bases, and research facilities were built on newly explored star systems and colonized worlds as the Order slowly multiplied and plotted its eventual return to the galaxy at large. Growing in size and strength, the First Order would come under the command of Supreme Leader Snoke, a powerful dark side user and served by his apprentice, Kylo Ren. With Snoke's successful manipulation of Kylo Ren to the dark side of the Force, his apprentice and the Knights of Ren would destroy Luke Skywalker's attempt at restarting the Jedi Order, with subsequent purges and hunting down those with Force affinity, much like the previous Inquisitorius of the Old Empire.[3]

For the three decades after Endor, the First Order would largely escape galactic attention, with many in the New Republic Senate believing that it posed no real threat to the galaxy at large, with Chancellor Lanever Villecham arguing there was no need for concern as long as it adhered to the dictates of the Galactic Concordance. Despite this, the Order blatantly defied the accords by ushering in the mass mobilization of superior stormtrooper forces, along with violating Republic bans on the sale of weaponry to the First Order and its rules governing capital ships. Testing the resolve of the New Republic, small skirmishes would occasionally erupt between the First Order and Republic, all while the Starkiller operation would seek a suitable planet for implementation.[3]

With the First Order's growing threat and rapid mobilization for war, prominent members of the Republic voiced concern over this successor state, with the most vocal being Leia Organa. Scoffed at by the Senate at large for being an alarmist and warmonger, Organa used her influence as a prominent member of the former Alliance to recruit many former military officers left forgotten by the Military Disarmament Act passed by the Galactic Senate. Funded by like-minded senators who shared Organa's fears about the First Order, the Resistance would come to serve as the opposing force and checkmate to the Order's growing power, sparking the First Order–Resistance conflict.[3]

Despite this, members of the Republic Senate were mired in corruption and bureaucracy, with senators such as Erudo Ro-Kiintor colluding with the First Order for promises of wealth and power, with large sums of credits being discretely transferred to him through the Corporate Sector Authority. As a result, the Resistance was forced to work on its own until it could obtain irrefutable evidence of First Order violations of the peace that could be presented to Republic Command.[9]

Government

The First Order was a military junta inspired by the former Galactic Empire.[1][10] Led by dark side user Supreme Leader Snoke, he and his right-hand man Kylo Ren would oversee the colonization of the Unknown Regions and destruction of the last Jedi. Much like the former Empire, Kylo Ren existed outside the formal command structure of the First Order, and frequently came into conflict with military officials owing to his agenda consistently trumping military objectives. In this way, not only would fear be maintained within the Order's upper ranks, but Kylo's placement in the hierarchy would intentionally resemble that of Darth Vader's during the reign of the Old Empire.[2] Despite having Force-sensitives within its ranks, the First Order did not employ the use of Sith or Inquisitors like its predecessor.[10][2][3]

The First Order would lack an official capital as its Supreme Leader would constantly move his base of operations, thus administration of the government would exist on an amalgam of planets within First Order territory. With the construction of Starkiller Base, the Order would possess an unofficial headquarters for its expanding power.[3]
[edit] Foreign affairs

The First Order was one of the remnants of the "Old Empire" that had emerged in the wake of the Galactic Concordance. Since the Concordance limited the Empire's ability to wage war by imposing strict disarmament treaties and punishing reparations,[3] the First Order despised the New Republic as an illegitimate regime that tolerated disorder in the galaxy.[2] Despite the First Order's frequent violations of the Galactic Concordance by intruding into Republic space and building illegal weapons, the New Republic did not believe that the Order posed a threat.[9]. Despite intelligence reports to the contrary, several Republic politicians in the Senate Intelligence Committee and senior military leaders such as Major Lonno Deso dismissed the First Order as an ill-organized, poorly equipped, and badly-funded group of Imperial loyalists who used propaganda and fear to exaggerate their strength and power.[9]

In an effort to subvert the New Republic, the First Order was also known to channel funds through shell and third-party corporations in the Corporate Sector to corrupt Republic senators like Erudo Ro-Kiintor, who blocked motions advocating sanctions against the First Order and increasing support for the New Republic Starfleet.[9] Consequently, the First Order's main military adversary was the Resistance, a private military organization founded by General Leia Organa in response to the Republic's unwillingness to take action against the Order.[3] The First Order saw its primary mission as restoring order to a "lawless" galaxy and viewed the Republic and Resistance as obstacles to achieving these goals.[9] About thirty years after the Battle of Endor, the First Order launched a preemptive attack on the Hosnian system in order to destroy the Republic and force the wider galaxy into submission. Later, the First Order made an unsuccessful attempt to destroy the Resistance's base on D'Qar.[2]

The First Order was also known to have dealings with other entities like the Corporate Sector Authority[9] and the Guavian Death Gang.[2]
[edit] Military

Blue Glass Arrow Main article: First Order military

With its rapidly expanding military in clear violation of the Galactic Concordance and Republic laws, the massive militarization effort of the First Order would continue throughout its tenure in the Unknown Regions. There, military bases and shipyards would be constructed to churn out some of the technologically superior weapons and starfighters utilized by the Order's military. To avoid treaty restrictions banning the sale of weaponry to the First Order, galactic arms manufacturers BlasTech Industries and Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc spun off a subsidiary known as the Sonn-Blas Corporation, which manufactured much of the First Order's weaponry within First Order space. Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems would also help produce vessels such as the Upsilon-class command shuttle and TIE/fo space superiority fighter, along with its two-seated variant the TIE/sf space superiority fighter. Sinear-Jaemus Army Systems would manufacture the widely used AAL which could ferry twenty stormtroopers into combat, while the Aratech-Loratus Corporation developed the LIUV;[3] on ground the First Order also used some four-legged walkers similar to Imperial AT-ATs.[2] In violation of New Republic laws regarding capital ships, the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer would be developed by Kuat-Entralla Engineering and feature more than three-thousand turbolasers and ion cannons, and was specifically designed to evoke the fearful image of the Old Empire's Imperial-class Star Destroyers.[3]
Phasma FN Corps training

First Order Stormtroopers were indoctrinated from a young age

Like its predecessor, the First Order employed the use of stormtroopers, including variants such as snowtroopers. It also utilized specialists including megablaster heavy assault troopers, flametroopers and riot control stormtroopers and selectively had one of the three variants placed in every ten-member stormtrooper squad. Unlike the inconsistent academy standards of the previous Galactic Empire, training of the new generation of stormtroopers emphasized improvisation and counter-insurgency operations, including guerrilla tactics. With the First Order lacking the numerical superiority of the Galactic Empire, better equipped and trained soldiers resulted in higher trooper proficiency than the previous Galactic Empire. Soldiers were often trained on capital ships and underwent vivid simulations to create the most loyal soldiers, which was an extension of the ideas of Commandant Brendol Hux and his Commandant's Cadets.[3]

One of its primary bases of operations was known as Starkiller Base, an iceplanet converted into a stronghold. Seeking to rule the galaxy through fear, the base housed a superweapon capable of destroying entire star systems by firing a planet-destroying beam through hyperspace, and was led by an unofficial triumvirate of General Hux, Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma until it was destroyed in the Battle of Starkiller Base.[2][11][3]

With the rapid expansion of its stormtrooper ranks and military capabilities, the Resistance believed that more trooper specializations were yet to be discovered, and ships even larger than the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer were in existence.[3]

I will have to read all of that. Places I've been getting my information from are spending more of their time focusing on Episode 8 rather than 7 and I don't really have an interest in spoiling that movie for me like I spoiled the other one. I got the information I wanted about a, ahem... certain character and now I'm satisfied to just sit back and be surprised with everyone else. >.>

Green Squadron is a group of former Rebel Alliance pilots/fighters who, after the victory at Endor became part of the New Republic. But after a while, they realized that the NR is focused on the big picture now, of governing and that there are still pockets of Imperials who still rule systems and sectors and that someone has to look out for the little guy.

Green Squadron has become the A-Team of the galaxy.

I love it when a Vote gets tallied.

Vague voted to have a Liberator-class, maybe a refurbished one or one that's was decommissioned from back in the day. He also voted for an Imperial Light Carrier, aptly named the Quasar Fire.

I'm thinking towards a hodgepodge of older fighters for the squadron, maybe a mixed squadron. So like....5-6 X-Wings/Z-95s, 3 A-wings, 3 B-Wings.
A nice mix of scrappers, interceptors, and interceptor/bombers.

Mir votes that each member of Green Squadron comes up with an Imperial holdout/warlord/target for us to take down, thus giving us a number of plots to run through.

So like we fight Pryngles' Warlord whose organization uses a Tree logo and are evil. So "Evil Tree"
Then we fight Vague's criminal organization who are known as the Bears of The Perlemian, known for their ferocity and use of '85 ships.

Vague, +10 if you go with Bears of the [Insert Trade Route Name Here].
Deep down you know you want to.

I vote for an X-Wing! Ya know, cause reasons. Also, I vote that Nimbus makes a reappearance and since he seems to get passed around between my characters a lot this time I think I'll team him up with her... For the new canon, at least.

As we're getting closer to the reboot, I am getting pretty amped up about it. I am contemplating rebooting the Red Dagger Fleet that has been sent out as Exploratory Task Force by a certain Bothan, that will be freelancing in the Northern parts of the Galaxy, and away also serving the certain Bothan as a group that is freelancing and basically away from the prying eyes of certain NR Senators that don't have the best interests of the New Republic at heart.

The Liberator Class ship is big enough, and not 'too' big, and would serve as the flagship of the fleet, while 1 of its support vessels would indeed be a Light Carrier (Quasar Class). Which...it just so happens...needs a crack squadron group.

Would the Green Squadron be interested in such a home?

Not really sure. Why don't we have a vote on it? :P

The only thing really, is that we are re-attaching ourselves to the NR when the original idea was to be totes freelance. So that's mainly what we're voting on.

Room for one more in Green Squadron?
My horse's feet are as swift as rolling thunder,
He carries me away from all my fears;
And when the world threatens to fall asunder,
His mane is there to wipe away my tears.

There's always room for more in Green Squadron. I have to ask, though, how do you feel about democracy and are you a fan of voting? :P
