A Couple of Quick Questions

Post by xfiend1013 » Tue Sep 04, 2012 1:55 pm

What's the governmental situation on Corellia?

The wiki says that Mirr is the go-to guy for CEC, but I'm just gonna have them do some light work for me.

It may go poorly for them.

Also, I'm thinking riots on Corellia. I'm in a riot mood.

Are riots on Corellia a really bad thing for anyone in particular? I think they could liven up the Drugs, Jedi, and High School thread.

I would imagine that the Commonwealth probably became absorbed into the NR... but that's just my guess.

Personally, I wouldn't mind it be put aside for my eventual conquest of it.

... Wait, did I say that out loud?

There is almost always someone on Corellia pissed off at the current galactic government and attempting to violently "Take Corellia back... FOR THE PEOPLE!" which always turns out to be utter bull shit. Though in our time line the biggest trump card they always used, centerpoint station, is now destroyed.

So far the only thing I know about the government is that Isis Sinclair is the senator representing the planet. Other than that I got nothing.

The Corellian Commonwealth was absorbed into the NR shortly after the Second Civil War during the beginning stages of the Xen'Chi War.

CEC was nationalized and has a NR Economic Council and NR Trade Council appointed CEO. The CEO is given rather free reign in what he/she/it does with the activities of the company, provided that they follow and continue to follow all NR laws and ordinances.

Yeah Jessica Trobane is still around just resigned from CEC making room for Mir's character. Taking more time for her personal life to raise her family since she lost both Coret and Cameron. But would say her voice still carries weight and she knows now Corellia can't do it alone and swung her support to the NR since they were already allied. And yes there will always be Corellians that are stubborn headstrong and all that about there right to independence.

Interesting tidbit, Isis is fairly pro NR to a point. Obviously she's not hardcore about it because she left the military before her career ever really began, but at the same time I know she is very much pro-Corellia. So depending on the reasoning and the circumstances there's a possibility she might side with the rebellion. It would have to be a very good reason, though, she wouldn't turn against the Republic on a whim and it would have to be something the majority of Corellians want. A small fraction isn't going to motivate her to side with the people.

Thought i'd bring up that there have already been a few planets that were RPed into leaving the republic, though it was "peacefully". Seeing how they were able to do it, the corellians are likely to get it into their heads that they want to do it as well.

Personal note: I like the idea. The Republic is fragmenting, on the verge of war with the Imperials, (Though it doesn't really seem like it to the greater galaxy.) Could be chalked up to the Republic losing Coruscant. After all lore states that a galactic government is/can only be legitimatized by having coruscant as its capital. (Though my personal view of coruscant is that of a poor credit sink. The damn planet can't support its self, utterly relys on imports, and is mostly controlled by criminals. I say that last bit because the under sections of the planet are given a blind eye by just about any and every government that has "controlled" the planet. Its a shitty place to live unless your upper class. I'd like to see the city world reduced to rubble and rebuilt into a proper planet. But thats a whole other discussion.)

Seems to be the repeatable story, the Republic is dealing with so many damn problems at once, but manages to over come them in the end...

Can i destroy coruscant as we know it and rebuild it? :P

I admit, I only skimmed briefly these last two posts... but I've been toying with the idea of doing a "Five Worlds"/"Confederation" kind of deal in the future. I dunno if it will happen, but given contexts and whatnot I was toying with doing it with the Corellian System (only 'cause I'm a sucker for Corellians :P), or possibly revisiting something else... ?

I actually really like the idea of fragmenting the NR. It is always seen as the stable government of the "Big Two". Why not fragment it some? Maybe go with the True Republic as a fragmented version. In the end it could come back together but I like the idea...a lot.

I have to say I like this idea too (and no it's not because i'm a staunch Imperial RPer...shoo, shoo! ).

Something like a breakaway faction could easily play into the 5th Column faction on the Empire's side in terms of problems springing up either during or after another major conflict with the Imperials. When was the last time the NR ever had a nice little civil war?

That's actually what I was thinking, as well. You guys are all about this whole "balance of power" thing going on... why not mirror what the GE is doing with your own splinter group thingie?

Doesn't have to be me... I just want to see it done, brownie points if I get to do it. :)

It's an interesting concept. With all the wars and all but since Mir is FC of the NR I'd like to hear what he has to say. Will it just be Corella or can it splinter beyond. If so how is it chosen. An interesting concepts.

Just a personal opinion..observation.

We have the Summit coming up, which will bring enough of a time sink for writing, but we also have the NR/GE War that will begin after that.

Writing on the board has been..sparse..to say the least. This is mainly due to back to school, new jobs, and even a couple of our writers that just got married.

I think that bringing 'another' major upheaval to the MBT at this juncture would be another cog (or thread) in a machine that is already getting bogged down.

Something like the fracturing of the NR 'after' the conclusion of the NR/GE War, would be better. But for right now, I think it would only bog things down even more than they are right now.

Personally I'm indifferent to a Five Worlds storyline. If it were to happen, awesome, if it didn't, awesome. If it were to happen, the only thing that concerns me is when it would happen.

Due to the nature of the beast and the sheer size, economics wise of the Corellian System, this is something that would effectively be board wide. I don't see how it could be simply localized. The power and economic strength of CEC alone would bring multiple interested parties. People would be trying to steal blueprints left right and center, being one of the things that pops into my mind at first.

As it stands, time wise, we're very busy. We have the NR/GE War, then we have Phase one of Cadden's storyline and then we have my storyline. I know that obviously for the NR/GE War, we need a unified NR, and I know for a fact that for my storyline, we need a unified NR. So that has to factor into this decision making process.

I merely brought this up as a matter of convenience, as per X's questions. I don't mind seeing it wait for a while. Matter of fact, I'd kinda prefer it, for the exact reasons you stated, Mir.

Yeah I completely agree with this. No need to have an NR civil war and an Imperial insurrection concurrently. It'd probably be more along the lines of the upcoming NR-GE war sowing the seeds of instability further down the road within the NR.

I might even have a character of mine that could play a role in that.

You know this could play into triana side as well with the 5th column just need someone at CEC or someone powerful on Corelila to put a hit on her. Or make it look that way.

Raxus Prime, being located in the Tion Hegemony, was established as being governed by them when Halcyon was running that show. Beyond that, there's really nothing going on there. If nothing else, I would establish it as neutral.

Sienar has a Refinery there but other than that agreed with Cadden list it as neutral now. Sienar doesn't claim it but does patrol there own facilities.

Actually, as far as I am aware, Tion is under SE control since Sirena was dethroned as Sith Empress. Thus, if Raxus is part of Tion... *shrug*

Negative. Last I talked to Adam about it, Tion Hegemony was still its own thing. He never said anything otherwise, and as I had a small stake in what was to become of the Hegemony as a whole, he would have definitely told me if that happened.

You might want to take a glimpse in the SE forum then, Cadden. I mean, we even talked about how to integrate Tion more after Sirenas fall. Now - I don't know what Beorht and Halcyon talked about about go's and no go's, but according to what B has written, Tion seems to be under SE control - so far, in fact, as to be folded into it officially.

Granted, there was so little done IC about Tion - to my knowledge - that its rather nebulous either way. Might want to check with Beorht and Halcyon about it, too.
