Re: Not sure how I feel about EP7 *SPOILER ALERT*

Ya know, all this "bad" that people keep echoing is the same kind of bad Episode IV got away with. You had zero explanation for anything in that movie as well. There's the opening crawl that sets the scene and then action. Now Force Awakens does the same thing and suddenly it's bad? They can't expl...

Re: Neverwinter Nights 1 Persistent World

The game itself is, with a few exceptions, in english. What we haven't translated is mostly stuff such as webpage rule entries, a few descriptions, and a scarce few examples of ingame stuff - two or three spell descriptions, a placeable or NPC here and there. What's there is perfectly playable in en...

Neverwinter Nights 1 Persistent World

Hey folks, Some of you are aware that I have been part of an NWN1 server team for quite some time - since 2003, to be exact. Over the past years, the german-speaking NWN community has been in a steady decline, to the point where only a handful of german-speaking players remain, spread across far too...

I'd suggest adding the Emerald Way, with it being the primary trade artery from known space to the three Unknown Regions governments around it. There's a wiki article on it.

Re: Remember Midpoint Summit?

Yes, thats what I meant Vox. In essence, you need a pretty highly developed planet to afford ISDs - and you'd still need to ask whether it would make sense for that planet to field its own ISDs. I mean, even if, say, Germany could afford its own carrier... why the frack would they want to? It runs c...

Re: Rebelling Against Star Wars

Funny, I really, really enjoyed the second Abrams-Trek Film. The first one was a slap in the face in my eyes - it waltzed through Star Trek as I knew it and for one completely ignored setting logic, second barely explained several items such as why a fricken mining ship was able to tear through wars...

Re: Remember Midpoint Summit?

What Mir said. A carrier is a good comparison relative to single countries, but an ISD is several orders of magnitude more involved than an aircraft carrier - starting with it being a spaceship and being just a liiiiiittle bit larger.

Re: Mon Cal Cruisers

It's just numbers, really. I've given up on trying to bring various game stats into accordance - if necessary, I just say "this fighter is slightly more fragile than an X-Wing, but a bit faster", or "this thing is equal in firepower to an ISD1, but has slightly weaker shields". There are too many so...

Oh, yes, one has to be realistic. I mean, the swiss 'lost' to Milano at one point. Given the fact that it was 16000 vs 2500 and the Swiss STILL killed more italians than vice versa, I don't really count that as 'lost' :D

Re: Remember Midpoint Summit?

First off - random game experience has very little relevance to Star Wars and simple logic. Games are dictated by game concerns, such as balance. I mean, I could craft you a very convincing argument about the weakness of Borg cubes based on game experience, despite the entirety of on-screen Star Tre...

Will have similar concerns. Especially the financial ones.

And, of course, I somehow still can't fathom why a planetary government (or mercs) would need or want a star destroyer.

Re: Remember Midpoint Summit?

Pretty much. The primary support I could see would be in form of synergies or easing the maintenance. Selling out docks for temporary amounts of time. It is, after all, easier to just rent an NR dock than build one of your own. But even then, I couldn't see the NR helping merc companies finance star...

I wouldnt even say that pro peace activists would try and block it, but that EVERYONE would be opposed to a degree. Re: Remember Midpoint Summit?

Even the point defense ion cannons of a Providence-class had a firepower per-shot comparable to a 4.8 megaton bomb. You can be quite certain: Every ship with turbolaser batteries can level cities. And continents. And worlds. Some just do it quicker than others. @Idea: Who wants to please what public?

Something else to consider: Why would most mercenaries or companies even want to maintain large capital ships? They don't have much use for them, and they cost ridiculous amounts of money, not to speak of logistical nightmares, especially with maintenance. I mean, mercs are not going up against othe...

Re: Remember Midpoint Summit?

I could see the NR doing it actually - exactly because of the Empire and the SE. Essentially, band together with smaller governments and try to form a better defended front versus likely future enemies. They'd be picky about it, I guess. No supporting people likely to ally with Empire/SE instead and...
